Default Rome and Naples in the summer

Heyo! I'll be travelling with my family for a weekish to Rome and Naples, and I'd like your top tips for a good experience, what to look out for and what to avoid, what's worth seeing and what's overrated etc. I know the basic rules of travelling etc, but If there's any specifics for these cities do tell

    Oh man..

Well, it really depends on how many days you'll have and of course on what you'd like to see, but in general there are few places that you shouldn't be missing:

    - The Roman Forum https://parcocolosseo.it/en/area/the-roman-forum/; you can also buy thickets directly on the website I linked (do that, it will be faster and cheaper)
    - if you ere interested in Fascism period, you should definitely visit the Foro Italico and the EUR
    - if you are up for religious stuff, you can't of course miss the Vatican and the Vatican Museum
    - for simplicity, just check this site, plenty of stuff to pick

I'm not really familiar with Naples, still

    - the center of the city, the Vesuvio, Pompei, Capri.. all places worth to see
    - check here for a comprehensive list

let me know if I can help you in any other way

ps. would you like to come and have a drink with me in my vineyard?

Have only been once to Rome (to see Scotland beat Italy at rugby ), and haven't been to Naples yet.

Rome area things to avoid: day trip to Anzio - seemed like a good idea at the time, really wasn't...

I'd 2nd go to the Roman Forum, we found it more interesting and somewhat less overwhelmed with tourists than the Colosseum.

you could have seen that at home, I don't think we ever remotely had a chance to win a rugby game vs Scotland

Heard the same about Anzio.. though I as well heard that the Nero's Villa is a must see

true again, though I know that they have recently opened up an underground area at the Colosseum which is just awesome

If your fit, you can take the walk up to the Citadelle in Naples.... its a superb view from up there and the Fortress itself is quite interesting.
And you get a free workout.

Roma is a big tourist scam, avoid.

that's an unfortunate truth, though it's not about the things you can see but about the services (hotel, bars, restaurants, taxi) they supply you... I mean, too often tourists are cheated on prices, but if one is used to travel that shouldn't be a problem (and certainly it does not happen only in Rome).

I mean... You just have to do Rome right. Avoid the expensive places, if you go from the famous piazzas a few corners away, the ice cream & coffee prices will have dropped to normal levels even though you're very close (at least it was like that when I travelled there, which is many years ago).
I was in Naples, that much I can report. But I forgot everything.

One does not exclude the other. His husband Sporus being a eunuch did, however.

Ahh, okay it doesn't look so odd to me from the other angles. the towers look way more proportional when you can see the thickness of the walls.

    (thats what she said?)
