Is there no way to get the Papal States to HELP me?

I have had a perfect relationship with the Pope, throwing money at them, gifting them with map information and I have my fairest Princess who has probably slept with half the Clericy in Rome and do you think I can get the Papacy to assist me with a COMMON enemy, Milan? Noooooooooo.

The Papal states have armies upon ruddy armies standing around It's not like they are hard pressed or anything!

I think the reason for that behaviour is that Lands to Conquer uses Ultimate AI mod which intends to make Pope passive and he shouldn't ally with anybody. The player can still ally with Pope but just because there is no way to prevent that.

The Pope's not to help you by sending his limited defensive force, but by excommunicating every bastard that declares war on you and enable you to launch crusades against them. Works a charm. In my french game, the Pope is my #1 ally and the one that makes me untouchable.

Look whilst this is true, I could seriously use some help against Milans monster stacks. I am going to have to abandon my cities in the MEast so I can concentrate my forces in Northern Italy. The reason I am going after the Pope for assistance is because of his close proximity to the wretched Milanese. I mean I can get Poland or Hungary to help me out but they never do even after agreeing to help. It's maddening I tell you.

While playing as HRE, I actually saw Pope and French form an alliance (didn't really matter since I was Popes ally too), French happens to be strongest military faction atm (makes some sense).

Of course they decleared war to me (immeadit excom to them) and I actually we decleared ceasefire in very same turn (well my turn), without any harm came to either of us and now we are allied... Occasionaly odd stuff happens.

About Pope not attacking, on my game his forces actually attacked and drove off Milanese troops from my land, then halting there...

Uhm I have the problem with all factions. Made a contract between Hungary and me to to attack Byzantine Empire, they marched with a full stack against them but just across the border they turned and didn't attacked the Byzantines

As catholic factions the pope has always behaved in what I would consider a normal fashion (playing 1.2). But now I am playing a Turkish campaign ... and have good relations with the papacy and yet he sends a crusade against me holding constantinople (sp?) ... my mission statement says he has send this crusade against me and suggests I sue for peace but I am not at war with him so I cannot ... the few faction that have gone to war with me by crusading I am also not able to make peace with. Only the hungarians who I share a border with no less asked me for peace which I was happy to grant them. I guess I just have to wait for the Pope to die? Maybe as a islamic faction the use and training of good assasins could really pay off?

Well, i remember, that, during my campaign as Milan, The Papal States attacked and seized Rebel Florence, it is indeed strange, since i thought that His Holliness, Pope Gregory VII had loved justice and hated inequity

It is some what randome how the Pope acts, but mostly he just sit there and excom everyone and everybody who just looks at you funny (when you have an alliance with him). But sometimes, just sometimes, he goes completly wild - he will seize rebel and even excom factions provinces and he will forcefully march the hole map to help you if need be. I even have a campagine going in which the pope himself whent on the crusade.

Only when You ally with the Pope he become rampaging marauder.
If you want peacefull Pope don't ally with him.( for more look at Ultimate A.I. Mod)

You know, I don't have any Alliance options with His Holiness! Not even given the perfect set of relations I mentioned earlier! Is there a cheat code for this?

Strange.Is he allied with other faction ? It is no cheat you can be ally with the Pope.

Actually I made a mistake I am already allied with the Pope, but I wish I could see this aggressive behaviour some people are talking about. I mean he has stacks upon stacks sitting around waiting for something.
