Any way to turn a "Bad Leader" into a decent one?

My current king is considered a "Bad Leader" (despite having a high rank and being quite the force in battle), which is giving me some faction-wide nerfs. Is there anything I can do to turn him into a less sucky leader (other than assassinate him and hope that his successor will be an improvement; or putting him back in command of an army, so he's not directly involved in government)?

It is based on his personality. These can change but its rare.
