I started 285 campaign Carinus Empire steam version.

Lets see some of my first battles.

Legio II Parthica ready to kick some of the Diocs finests legions

Maximus Decimus Meridius hiding in the woods with the Equites Legionis

General surronded by pretorians watch the advancing enemy

Enemy Equites Lanciarii running into the arcuballistari fire

Enemy elite cohorts hesitate to attack my spearwall

Their infantry decimated before even reach my lines

Run for your lifes it will be short

When my reinforcement arrive the battle is over. Equites Scutarii devastate them with their javelins

My heavy cavalry Equites Promoti run down the runners

    ROMA VICTOR!!!

The field is all purple and red

Legio XIII Gemina was destroyed by Iazyges invaders.

    Roman counter attack has failed.

Legionary Eagle was taken to Tisia.

    now Ulpia-Traiana-Sarmizegetusa is empty...

Promising Roman commander Tribilgildus Classicianus was killed in battle..

and coward general Decentius fled back to the fort.
start with 5000 men.. but only 200 remains after the battle.

Sassanid betray us. and allied with barbarian franks..

at first, they invade the Edessa. but they retreat back to nisbis by all mighty legions[Legio VI, Legio XVI] of Rome.

so we have a bloody battle at the field of Nisbis.

almost 10000 soldiers[both armies] lay on the field of battle..

I think it will be great to change Roman faction leaders' loyalty to authority or disable for them if it's possible.

    Default Re: RO Screenshots

Just thought I'd share my Diocletian campaign, currently 308 AD. My first full play through before I decided to have a go at Claudius (who got to live a little longer thanks to ignoring the script) before the game became bogged down in a CTD that I have not been able to get past. Probably a good thing as I was WELL and truly over the ridiculous amount of Bosporan death stacks that just showed up and refused to bugger off even when their heads were kicked in. That and a hideous swarm of Persians.

The map looks bonkers thanks to my backwards solution to fixing an issue when I couldn't recruit Roman legions anywhere even once I'd built the relevant buildings. Instead of reinstalling the campaign first, I accidentally deleted the map.rwm file first and now ended up with the below. The 293 AD campaign isn't as hard as the others but still has had its challenges.

Despite the fact that the All Men loiter within the Empire's bounds, they where humbled after much hard fighting, been the first to feel the wrath of a resurgent Rome. I actually handed back a city after the reinforcement script started to add even more stacks (something I ignored when it came to the lazyges). The Franks were humbled as well and now have two legions stationed in their former territory in case they get uppity again. Carausius was kicked off the continent fairly early and his realm has contented itself by sending the occasional touring parties to, I dunno, collect sea shells? See the countryside? They do nothing back stand on the coast. Occasionally the Gaels decided to land a half stack or two but they are taken care of quick smart.

This part of the Danube was long a thorn in my side and the scene of many bloody battles. You can see the lazyges have greatly benefited from the reinforcement script but thank Mars they are happy with peace and just standing around doing nothing. I don't want to hand back Tibiscum as the upgraded Sarmatian horse archers are very handy in a tight spot. They had been a pest early but a few carefully chosen battles and Rome emerged triumphant. The Carpi on the other hand where reminiscent of my Quaddi nightmares in IB SAI and they were a serious menace and caused a conniption fit at the obscene loss of men they had caused. They were seriously a tough enemy. It required new tactics and a different army (more horseman and archers) and carefully chosen battles. Gradually Aurelian and Diocletian himself before his death wore them down by isolating and defeating them one by one. Now this front is heavily garrisoned in case they decide to have another go. Never again Carpians, never again!

The western stretch of the Danube hasn't seen much in the way of anything, aside from the occasional Juthungi attack but the garrison at Aquincum is experienced and numerous and the pathetic Juthungi are no match for the mighty Primae Adiutrix.

The Berbers must have thought that Rome was weak when they were able to capture a couple of coastal citites but the African legions and a good helping of auxillary troops (and mercenaries) blunted the Berbers and pushed them all the way back to the depths of Africa after a long campaign. The Berbers could not stand up to even the auxillary troops with their poor weapons/armour and low morale. They have a few extra stacks courtesy of the reinforcement script but they have no power here. I am training up a couple of extra armies to finally put them from their misery. The legionary bases at Capsa and Anfus and what I am assuming was Dimiddi (which is I renamed Castellum Aureliani for some reason) will no longer be needed to watch the deserts.

For a rather unsettling amount of time, the descendants of Sassan just watched the borders and did nothing, as I dealt with irritating Armenian raids at Trapezus (I mean, come on...its Rome who is supposed to do the invading there! Just who do they think they are??). Ever nervous of their seemingly endless swarms of heavy cavalry, I gradually built up a considerable eastern army replete with the more than useful Hatrene cavalry and Ohsroenian horse archers (those Syrian noble horse archers go alright too with a full upgrade as well) before they finally attacked and launched an all out war that was highlighted by a legendary defence by the garrison at Amida after they had breached the city but were stopped in the streets by the unnamed legionary units (may be a bug). They attacked again, the city seriously weakened and 100% destined to fall, so it was time to invade. This drew away the besiegers and whilst I won every encounter I did suffer moderate casualties.

I was able to score a victory outside Nisibis, killing the garrison commander and most of his army which allowed Rome to march in triumphantly and put everything to sword and flame. Though several large armies are east of Nineveh, Rome will now march through here to take the city and then onwards to Ctesiphon. I have no idea what awaits over there but have no doubt they will spam more stacks so more men are currently been raised throughout the middle east and Anatolia. Though I knew they were nearby, the Alans showed up in a greatly weakened state just to wander the desert and take in the sites. I briefly held Dura Europa but it was a cesspit of treason and chaos and soon lost it before the Arabs took over. They also took Bostra and for a time where no trouble before they decided to mess with Rome. They haven't been terribly tough opponents and I was able to advance as far as Al-Hirah and capture it and evict them from Bostra and defeat them in the occasional battle. They have attempted to take Yatrib but to no effect.

I didn't take a screenshot but Africa has been interesting. The Auxumites showed up one day for a bit of sight seeing and the chance of plunder and there has been constant warfare that the Romans have gotten the better of, despite their elephants. I invaded with two armies, one largely comprised of mercenaries and the other with the African legions. I had advanced as far south as Meroe and both armies were soon accosted by angry Axumites. I went to fall back to a better position so I wasn't been attacked from all sides but made a serious error in movement points judgement and in an instant, the two armies where lost to the wilderness. Though annoyed, I did not fret for long as I decided to postpone the conquest of Ammonium (on the back of crushing the rebels at Berenice-Troglodytica. Roman rebels ALWAYs get the full treatment) and take the Secundae Traiana legions and built up another army (with more mercenaries) to go and avenge the lost legions.
