Default WIP: India 1500: Total War

Hello all, I’ve been working on a India mod for the last two months, I had my external hard drive fail so it's still in a very alpha stage and any suggestions are welcome.

=Set in the early 16th century, India is Fractured into Several Hindu and Muslim Ruled Empires. Babur the Timurid begins his invasion from Afganistan. The Portuguese, the first European traders to establish trade colonies in India, have just started their wars against the Muslims. Great effort, always wanted to do a mod about India myself. Never got beyond the basic map though, I guess that's the one you are using? Will be nice to see what you do with it.

Note: flood events permanently disable the building of forts and towers in the region as well as reducing movement. It's the reason why most mods disable it.

Thank you Gigantus! It is your map!
Yeah I just found that out about the flooding, that is quite unfortunate

Absolutely! trying not to add many more to the Delhi Sultanate though as they already have quite a few to start to with

Just remembered: you can simulate seasonal flooding by enabling winter season for climates without winter. You then use 'winter' textures with flood effects and apply traits that reduce movement points.

Looks promising. I think 1648 and Broken Crescent might be good mods to draw assets from; they're usually fairly generous with giving permissions.

    Good luck!

    @Gigantus Ah that's a good idea! Thanks!
@Metal.Pigeon Thanks! I'll check in with them
Also if anyone has an interest in helping, we could definitely use a modeler/custom battle map maker/texture help/ or anything else

Coincidentally, I did make quite a few 16th century Portuguese units for some mods I'm working on, using assets from the Italian Wars. Here's some pics and suggestions for unit names:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Piqueiros ("Pikemen"):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Aventureiros ("Adventurers"): A pike unit, just like vanilla. I made a "knightly" variant as well as a model more in-line with their vanilla appearance.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Escudeiros ("Shieldbearers"):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Montanteiros ("Longswordsmen"): The montante is a Portuguese sword that wasn't used much on the battlefield, but I decided to make a unit using it anyway.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Besteiros ("Crossbowmen"):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Arcabuzeiros/Mosqueteiros ("Arquebusiers"/"Musketeers"):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Lanceiros ("Lancers"):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Encubertados ("Covered"):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Besteiros Montados ("Mounted Crossbowmen"): Alternatively, you could call them Cranequiniers, which would refer to men using cranequins (cavalry crossbows). Cranequinier is a French word though.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Couraceiros ("Cuirassiers"):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Dragões ("Dragoons"): Proper dragoons technically didn't exist until the 1600s, but the Portuguese (and Spanish) did use mounted arquebusiers in South America during the 1500s.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I'm too busy to join you in the long-term, but I'd be happy to lend you the unit models. They use assets from the Italian Wars mod, so you'd have to ask them for permission (they're generous too).
