    Default Changing General Portraits

Ok , so since i feel like doing something, i would like to try and change some portraits for generals with my custom ones.

Where can i find exactly the General Portraits location? I know they should be in the data/ui folder but i cant seem to find them.

I will try to add portraits from Mordhau character creation since i can juggle with equipment and helmets , for now it will be for personal use and if it all goes well i may post it here , if it's necessary i can ask permission from the Mordhau Develeopers before i make it public for the mod.

Right now i want to try to see if i can do that, thanks for the help

We usually don't answer to modding related questions. Not because we don't want but because there's a dedicated forum for such enquiries: the Workshop.
Most of the answers can be found there as tutorials, modding tools, resources, etc... (list here).
So, by respect to the members who have spent time for that, I prefer people to use that forum rather to ask here

Anyway, to answer to your question, check this. It might help.

If that's what you're looking for, my sub-mod of SSHIP, KCC 0.9.3 modifies the portraits of generals and other captains.
The path is long: mods / SS6.3 / data / ui / southern_european / portraits / portraits / young (or old, or dead)
You can also edit the portraits of the eastern_european folder and to change the captains this one: captain banners

IMO, it'd be great if you'd make such a submod that could be used in the SSHIP.
But please, make it historical (I don't know how Mordhau characters look like)

Maybe you can, eg, have a look at the units' cards?I think that in some cases there'd be better options than currently in the SSHIP.

Here is my first try, obviously i will perfect them but what do you think?

Should i close up the image to the face more ?

As for the units, thats a difficult thing since mordhau doesnt have a specific animation for me to crop as a unit card , but i can try with a few units (like the zweihander , seems preety easy)

In my opinion, making portraits with helmets poses a problem: what historicity if your character wears a helmet from the 15th or 16th century when your game begins in 1132 ?

Your 1st character wears a helmet from the end of the 13th century, beginning of the 14th.
Your 2nd character is at least from the 15th.
Your 3rd character is from the very end of the 15th and first half of the 16th century.

I agree with this. Most of the game will be played in 12-13 century, with helmets much less advanced as in the pics.

I can change that, i can add chain coifs , keetle hat , enclosed helm , spanghelm and conic/nassal helm. Also the greathelm was used starting from 1220 AD so it's not that innacuratee , unfortunately there is no way to change portraits mid-game so all in all. Im also trying to use helmets because Mordhau's no-faced helmet is a bit ugly imo. I will post another ones trying to mimic the vanilla ones, and let you decide

Also, isnt the game ending in 1550-ish ?

Game ends at 1550 but I most of the players play the first century(ies): 12, 13. So it's better not to break their immersion.

Think also about aging - the faces should age, there're three stages of life, afair.

Personally, I don't like no-face helmets. The generals in-game should be disctinguishable by their faces.

Am i improving at least ?

Also, i noticed even some vanilla portraits have houndskull bascinets , bevors and klappervisors and those were after 1330, so as long as they look ok i may introduce them too , since i plan to make alot of portraits and i need diversity.

I may repeat myself, but with my KCC 0.9.3 sub-mod already modified all the portraits to avoid the anachronisms contained in the vanilla version( https://www.twcenter.net/forums/show...logy-Costumes) ).
For this I took all the young, old, dead portraits and I deleted all the late helmets to replace them with faces. Here is a small sample:
