    Default Carthaginian Civil War

After having created the Mercenary War event lines, I had now the idea of creating a Carthaginian Civil War, but I would like for help regarding the details of how it could happen.

The background of the War would be something like:

After Carthage was victorious over Rome, the Numidians and the Celtiberian peoples, the Iberian Carthage would continue to get stronger, becoming something like a second capital of Carthage and the frictions between the Oligarchs mainly in Africa and the Democrats in Iberia would increase, generating a conflict of interests regarding what type of citizen policy to follow, the control of lands, slaves and political power, demanding that the player decides what political group we should support.
Depending on what group takes power, the other would rise against them. However, taking the opportunity that Carthage is busy in an internal war, other conquered peoples would rise, some by themselves, others supported by the promises of independence of the other political group. So the player would now face rebel armies all over Iberia, Africa, Italy, Sicily, etc. The Punic citizens in the colonies and other settlements outside Carthage would also rise in demand of more political rights.

With this, the player would be able to build a new policy in its settlements with effects that would vary according to what groups he supports. Citizenship rights to Punics and +10 Happiness, -5% Law and more monetary costs if he goes for the Barcids (maybe some core troops in those regions). Increased Carthaginian surveilance and influence in the lands, +10% Law, -5% Happiness and increased monetary gains if the player goes for the Oligarchs.

Therefore, the war could happen after turn 300 and with Rome, Numidia and Celtiberia either destroyed or with 1 settlement only (meaning that their territory has been conquered). Carthage should also be on peace state.

What you think guys? Any idea on how it should follow?

Personally, all these events you are working sound great, as they provide more and more depth. As long as there is historical precedent. Keep us posted.

Historical precedent seems to be hard to find, especially since EB 2 games are not determined real life results.

Indeed. Therefore I think the Lusitanio's approach, that is based on "plausibility", is a good one.

Well, thanks for the support guys!

I was actually asking for suggestions regarding how this "civil war" should follow x)

I have already created a script for it and started a campaign to test it, it will take some time because the event only happens if Rome is destroyed and both the Numidians, Lusitanians and Celtiberians have 1 or no settlements at all. Besides that, the FL must be a Barcid and Carthage must be at peace state.

I created quite a fun story telling the events, but still needs to be improved, so if someone likes to write, I could put here the texts. Still, the story is that with the expansion of the Punic control over Africa, Iberia, Sicily and Italy and no enemy strong enough to challenge Carthage, the political groups keep disputing political offices, military commands and the control of the provinces, with the main parties being the Barcids and the Hannonids.
Seing that they are loosing their importance in the "political war", the Hannonids plot against the Barcid leaders, creating rumours that the Barcids want to impose a tyrannic regime in Carthage and with the compliance of much of the aristocrats who want to gain possession of the lands in Iberia and Italy that belong to the settled veterans, they demand that the Council of the One Hundred and Four summons the Barcid leaders to Carthage. However, thanks to good fortune, the wife of one of the conspirators, having fallen in love with a Barcid officer, tells him about the plot. After discovering it and knowing that their leaders would be crucified if they went to Carthage and their lands confiscated, the Barcids prepare an army to go to Carthage and arrest the conspirators.

However, accidentaly, this action by the Barcids gives reason to the rumours and most of the Hannonids supporters flee Carthage and assemble an army with citizens, Liby and LibyPhoenicians, as well as many mercenaries and allies from Africa.

War has started and it is up to the player to decide which side to support!

On the next turn, all the Carthaginian Generals decide which side of the war they support and most of the settlements riot, the opposing side does treaties with many of the subjected communities, promising independence if they join their side and, consequently, strong armies composed of soldiers from Punic, Iberian, Sicilian, African and Italian communities appear...
