What does Christmas mean to you?

Jesus of Nazareth was born in March. One of the few things we know about the man.

We do know that His birth date was not 25th December and the one thing we do know is not when He was actually born so March is a possiblity. Now if you know better please tell us how?

The practice of searching the omens has been with man from the fall if that is what you are getting at? The signs and wonders about Jesus' coming are an example of how true some are. That's what makes Christmas so special because the omens came true and the rest is history, real history.

I'm actually fairly content throughout the year. I'm not a fan of the holidays though, but that's just because I can't stand my extended family. I just stick to myself on Christmas and Thanksgiving and go to a park or drive somewhere interesting for the day.

Bummer thanksgiving is a time to go out on a cooking limb to the best of finances... Even your crazy great uncle and his rants can be enjoyable (for one night) or a turkey overcooked to a crisp. Its really a non religious day of well thanksgiving that you are still breathing and something to enjoy in any possible way with any possible community. Christmas is obvious a more coded religious holiday but realistically you can morph it to your needs - try poker and bring your own beer and casserole night and just meditate with friends and family you enjoy and the cool bit where you are able enjoy all the nifty stuff of the world and hope for the best on one day instead all the other crap. If it takes one religion's belief in baby Jesus to get you the day off don't knock it enjoy it but with other people.

It's sad because one of the great gifts given by God is the family. Christmas is all about a family and one of the reasons we celebrate it. Of all the family gatherings that are celebrated, Christmas is the greatest of all because of its exclusitivity and no-one should be alone then if at all possible.

Oh other religions have tried their best to copy it and every single one has failed and fails miserably. First off He got Himself killed by the Jewish leadership who manipulated Pilate into doing so. So please if you're going to try to make a case for yourself please do it in English. Secondly, all Scripture is a back reading as is all other history. Thirdly, the story of us is by God for God, us being bitpart players in it. How silly you are about that was written even before the worlds were made. That's the power and majesty of God. The fall of man is an allegory, not a factual description of events. People who read into it literally should either read again or do so with ill intent.
