    And now time for something completely different...



    Ebru art is a technique of paper marbling, initially practiced by Turkic and Iranian people (Persian, Tajik) in Central Asia and even propagated in Ottoman Anatolia. It could be used for calligraphy and decorating books, but its main use, especially nowadays (usually in Cappadocia, for touristic purposes), was for dyeing luxurious silk clothes and embellishing them with elegant geometrical and floral designs. From an international perspective, Ebru remains quite unknown, with the exemption being the Westerners who visit the area to fly with air-balloons. However, in my opinion, apart from the magnificence of the final product, even the process of observing paper marbling can be very pleasant and relaxing. As this appropriately Oriental video demonstrates, there's nothing a talented and imaginative artist cannot create: from pigeons and roses to remarkably chubby camels:

    Thank you for posting it. It really is an art that should be better know, and not only is thr final product beautiful, you are right about watching it's creations.
