How to change standard resolution

I have monitor with 1280x1024 max. When i set this resolution in game, the picture become extended down. When i nstart with 1024x768 resolution, it's ok, but fonts looks terrible. I tried to find some info in internet, change resolution in preferences file, but didn't get result. May be someone have some ideas about to how to get normal picture wth max resolution or change it to 1280x960 for example?

As I said in the other thread - try the 'wide screen' option in the graphic setting.

Otherwise try the various 1280 settings that are available to see which will display best.
