For multiple reasons, i was annoyed at how loosely spaced units are in Medieval 2, including Third Age Total War. This mod changes spacing for all infantry units to 1 and 1 (gap between units side by side and front to back) and cavalry to 1.5 and 3. In other words, everyone, especially cavalry, is now as tightly packed together as possible without clipping. It may be little too extreme, but i like it way it is, and this was supposed to be just personal mod.
Trolls and other large units are not affected.
This makes units way better at holding the line and staying in formation. It should be much harder for units just pass through your entire formations. That does still happen from time to time though.
This should also make it much easier to move your units in siege battles, especially on huge unit size.
Installation:
Extract and copy and paste file to /mods/Third_Age_3/data and overwrite.
for:
Vanilla: 3.2
MOS version: 1.7
Mos Enhanced: 1.7 patch #5
Possible issues:
-cavalry charge may be too effective, especially against non-spearmen. I may have to tweak unit mass to compensate.
-Pikemen maybe too strong now
-Archers may be too strong, some units maybe too woulnerable to ranged fire
