Hope i'm wrong, ooh so sad about ancient empires, at least they must keep the data/their works and maybe inherit to other who can continue this massive mod.

About Troy total war, i hope i wrong too, i very worry that game will be like "Age of Mithology" game, where a region called mount Olympus and maybe Delphy ask regular tribute and will give Your heroes/heroine favor from the Gods.....

I will only hope not! Ancient Empires is easily one if the most beautiful mods! Very top tier! Let's hope they will make an announcement sometime in the future!

Yeah it is, but needs a ginormous team to solve all his problems and for this reason I also think it's

I don't get this, how can they leave one of the biggest TW mods to just die...

Ya to be honest this mod dying has been one of the biggest surprises in the TW world, they seemed like a very solid team

I never thought the mod was that popular? I personally would like to see Rome not as big starting out the game and the building system was atrocious. I enjoyed it for a few months but went back to DEI and now am fiddling with REM. If they fixed the building system and reduced Rome's starting size then it would be better. I couldnt even figure out how to build archers for the Romans for f$#%@ sake. Good luck in the future though

Earlier start date for Rome wouldn't work on the Attila campaign map. Starts out around the same size as Carthage, Ptolemies, Seleucids anyway.
I don't get what is supposedly so confusing about the building system. It was intricate and as realistic as it could be in this game. It was simplified (over-simplified imo) in the latest updates anyway. Only problem with the building system is AI stupidity.
The Romans didn't train archers or even use them much until the period in which the mod starts when they began using allied Sardinian and Cretan archers - which are aor units in the mod.

In case you missed it, there was a patch on steam workshop about an hour ago.

EDIT: Adding the changelog from steam since there is no official post about it.
Ancient Empires Public Release v1.2 will be released April 10th, 2020

**Main goal of this patch is to stabilize the current game for those who have reported issues.

    Proposed patch notes:

    Visual:
Fixed Multiple missing campaign building models for slots
Fixed Roman Marian and Augustan "Purple" Clothing in custom battle
Fixed wolf pelt texture issue for Roman Generals in winter
fixed Kush officer animation on elephant
    Small fixes to Celtic UI
Corrected Pontic Generals showing barbarian variants
    New flag for Parthian rebels
    Corrected some Eastern unit cards

    Campaign
Removed random Cimbri Spawn at turn 200 with vanilla units
Corrected Achaen League's control, heir, and political positions bug - You can now place family members in political positions as previously this was bugged.
    New scripted invasions added
Removed Cholchis rebel faction that is causing crashes
Slight tweaks to campaign to encourage more armies for larger factions
    Reduced colonization costs
    Custom Map Updates
Update to Tyros map - fixed many bugs plaguing this map plus added additional aesthetics
Update to Ephesus map - fixed many bugs plaguing this map plus added additional aesthetics
Update to Antioch map - Fixed some minor bugs and towers - plus added additional aesthetics

    Stats & General Bugs
Tweaked stats on Onagers vs Ballistas
Fixed battle crash with persian transports

    New units - Parthian Swordsmen

*Crash reporting fix - I have identified some issues with factions, specifically civil war or rebellion factions causing late game crashes - Although, i have not been able to identify the EXACT root of the cause, i did identify missing items in our database tables regarding these factions. I do apologize for the inconvenience, as these crashes are just as frustrating to the AE team as anyone. However, happy to say that I have tested previous crash saves provided from the community (huge thank you), and confirmed this fixes issues related to this CTD. In particular, the most recent reported crash is with EUPATRIDOI TES KOLCHIDEOS or the Cholchis Civil war faction. So far I have seen this as being fixed.
Please note that there still could be some future CTDs, but that will be the result of unreported issues at the moment. If reported, we will fix asap.

Items upcoming in a future patch:
Script, similair to the the kingdoms feature in Charlemagne, the Roman Republic will be able to become an Empire - Name change and additional effects once this is triggered
Working on a Conquest script - This will effectively be War weariness; but with opposite effects - The more you conquer/win battles the more the people will like you and praise you. However, be weary of rivals as this may result in civil war.
Continuous bug fixing - Campaign, battle, visuals
    Fixes to battle mechanics

so thats what it was in yesterdays Attila Steam workshop update? i assumed it was 1212 AD. good to hear, was just about to uninstall AE after having my playthroughs ruined by the CTDs. glad the mod isnt dead (and i wish i the future the team added campaign map walled settlements models to reflect the fact that all cities are walled, like in 1212). thanks for sharing

i never found how to recruit agents(champions, spy, assassins..) ,anyone has a clue ?
Are the imperial legions recruitable as well, i only see in the custom battle , augustean legions available ?

To recruit a spy you need a "forum" => Lvl 3 Forum Comitorium. The other specialists i dont know as well

The biggest mistake they did in this mod is size of Rome itself ,no one need Rome already overpowered have territory in Iberia and army in north Africa threatening to destroy their best rival in one turn ! mod doesn't give you challenge that's a big deal , i wish to change this start when they come back ,this mod is a great idea and a lot of work sad to see nobody of team concern about , other thing make variety in successors states's units , seleucid and ptolemaic almost have the same roster

Yeah I mentioned this earlier, I also think people have grown tired of the Rome Era..Wish we had a Redo of Napoleon, but not from CA.

AE is potentially the BEST of all TW roman mods!
Only a few still playable today tho: EB2 is still great but ancient, I never liked DEI that much, also Attila looks so much better than Rome2, map, units, UI, all look way better than Rome2. And not just how it looks, Attila mechanics are superior to Rome2 (pity that CA abandoned Attila so quickly), units are amazing, not to mention I like this particular period more than overused ~270BC scenario. AE simply has it all, it's destined to be the ultimate TW Roman mod (at least till Rome3).

I really hope it will be finished (and polished) eventually.

Just my two cents on this, having worked on the mod since the early days. The hard truth is, we've been down to two modders working on this project for the last couple of years (UMC and me, periodically a third member). As you all can probably imagine, that requires a lot from you in and of itself, and is unsustainable in the long run as work/university demands your full attention.

For me it's heartbreaking to disappoint - it's been one heck of a journey and so much fun working with different people as well as seeing the support from you guys here.

It's not that I'm officially pulling the plug on this one. But apart from the rare update here and there with months of radio silence in between, this is the situation now. Personally I cannot afford to invest the same long periods of time (we're talking months on end of preparing for major updates in the past, which I did despite studying full time). So I want to make it clear that while this project means a lot to me, I'm no longer actively involved and haven't been since last year. That's probably not going to change anytime soon. On a brighter note, William (responsible for many of the mod's unit rosters and several of its factions) has recently returned with renewed interest and is, to my knowledge, working on an update. When or if this update will be out is not for me to speculate.
