    Default M2TW Battle Map Modding on the Wiki

    As well as the tutorials in this forum there are some useful articles about battle-map building modding on the TWC Wiki.

    The articles are in the M2TW Battle Map Modding Category.

    Battle Map Buildings - M2TW helps to explain the loading sequence of the files, and some of the quirks about which building textures are used, which are relevant for avoiding snow covered buildings in deserts etc.

    .worldpkgdesc - M2TW explains how this file controls the selection of battle-map models for settlements, techtrees and ambients, and how the file can be edited with IWTE.

    Techtree - M2TW gives more detail about how the models for 'techtree' buildings are loaded and their relationship to export_descr_buildings.txt entries.

    If you're struggling to figure out why a particular battle model is (or is not) loading, the above three pages may help.



    descr_geography.db gives some very basic details about the geography files for RTW and M2TW


    .world file - M2TW, .worldcollision file - M2TW & .animinstances file - M2TW give some details about the content of these binary files. IWTE automates the processes needed to edit these files so you are unlikely to need to understand these files for general modding purposes.
