What good has that done? We're decades behind space exploration schedule, no more fund for orbital weapons, nuclear fusion, mind control experiments, ...

And 90% of Internet power is probably wasted on porn. Without Cold War the Internet would probably never have existed because there is no urgency for anything.

One cannot simply fund science solely for the advancement of human condition, one needs an enemy who does the same, so that one can beat one's enemy and say to one's enemy, "Haha... First!!!"

Travelling to & settling on mars would mean exposure to a lot of radiation, the brown surroundings might look nice for a short while, but you'd get tired of it quickly, plus you'd be hiding underground as much as possible and rarely venture outside. You'd also have a very limited pool for mating, probably one with a big fat 0 next to "hot singles in your area". Wormholes might work in theory, probably not that easily in RL. So the only hole you'd enter would be the one leading to your basement right after landing, because *AAAAAH! THE SUNLIGHT IS LITERALLY KILLING MEEE!*

In other words: We already have this on earth. It's called the TWC experience.

We don't have the capability to visit other solar systems. So right now space exploration is pretty limited. It costs so much, but we only get to see so little. Maybe we should first try to develop better propulsion technology and then revisit the issue.

Besides, wormholes are only theoretical.
