Default 24 Examples of Filial Piety

My ancestor had collected 24 stories of exemplars of filial piety.
    24 Examples

Each one makes me shed a tear.
And we should each share a true story of our respect to our parents.

"Once there lived a young lad named Weegee, his mother was a dumb old lady who thought she was learned because she could repeat phrases from ancient poets, kings, and philosophers. In order to not humiliate her with his talent, Weegee turned down his only chance to work for a fortune 500 company for 6 figures so he could sell his mother's long pamphlets of unoriginal essays at road intersections. He never made a single dime. But one day a he was cold, until a bolt of lightning came down and struck the pile of pamphlets into a fire lasting 30 minutes. Such was his reward from God for being a loyal son."

There are morally suspect "exemplars" among those 24. Particularly disturbing is the example of the guy who buried his own son so that his mother could eat.

Guo Ju lived with his mother, wife and son. He was known for being very filial to his mother. However, his family was poor and Guo became worried when he realised that his family's food supply was unable to feed four people. After discussing with his wife, they made a painful decision to bury their son alive, so that they would have one less mouth to feed. He also felt that he and his wife could have another child again, but he could not have his mother back if he lost her. While Guo was digging, he discovered a pile of gold and a note which said that the gold was a gift to him from Heaven. With the gold, Guo was able to provide for his whole family.
This truly sounds like medieval logic. It made sense to think of children as dispensable, since most of them died in childhood anyway. But is this objectively moral? I think not. The worst part is the part about burying him alive. Why is this necessary? Just kill him.

No, man must starve the masses thereto that they may have faith.

The child's screaming and struggling are absolutely required to maximize the pain of that guy. Filial piety is supposed to come with great pain.

Sometimes I wonder why my ancestors didn't just end themselves.
