What is the difference between submod and The Cold North? Both are listed as V3 for DaC.

The Cold North is the name of DaC V3, just as 2.3 was The Rise of Gundabad

The Mod is "Third Age" and the submod is "Divide and Conquer". Third Age Modifies Medieval 2 to Lord of the Rings and Divide and Conquer ads factions and a ton of other stuff.

I don't think you understand. There are two DAC downloads for DAC. One is called "The Cold North". One is called "submods"

submods of DaC change some aspects of "The Cold North" which is name for v3 of DaC, one that you are refering to changes all factions to neutral at game starts and allows for wars between fe. mordor and harad to happen, there are however many others that do different things

Do you mean it has some other changes but that The Cold North is the official Vanilla mod for DaC?

the cold north is currently the latest DaC version, meaning its the most up to date mod build
submods that are for v3(The Cold North) change some aspects, you have the total war submod which removes alliances and wars, you have mods that add spikes back, mods that add cav bodyguard back etc., but then there are some more complex mods that add more content to the game, for example my mods that add 1 new faction each.
