Default Rule Brittania 1.7 - Steam compatible

IntroductionHaving noted that the mod was not Steam compatible I decided to port the mod to Steam and also try to address issues that were raised in the Q&A threads. While at it I also set it up for use by the Mac version of the game.

Please note that this is based on the original mod (1.7) by AJStoner. As such the original permission for the mod applies.

InstallationThis is one of my 'click through' installations.
    • As long as your registry is fine the installer will find the correct installation path. If not, simply follow the instruction displayed in the installer.
    • At the end of the installation a file verification will take place, allow it to finish, check for error messages, close it and finalise your installation.
    • Steam users: no need to do anything - simply start the mod with it's desktop shortcut

    Edit History25 July 2019
    - Steam compatible, no further action is required
    - all files are small caps to support Mac installation
    - assorted graphic elements added to distinguish from earlier versions
    - compiled from 1.7 download plus Scotland fix
    - minor fixes and adjustments:
corrected mismatched historic_event texts (causes crash)
    corrected invalid EDCT references
moved declaration of counters before first use (script)
removed invalid script references to buildings
provided full set of sound text files for proper sound generating
provided missing 'xyz_name' entries in export_buildings
    provided missing unit sprites
    corrected invalid code in script
    provided missing character name entries
removed surplus files (lookup, enums, model files)
    provided automated installer
Mod OverviewFor an in depth run down of all the mod's features please see here.

    Thanks very much Gigantus.

It looks as if another mod has forced the display of names. In that case the use of the short cut to disable it will only last for the current game.

    Proceed as follows:

    1. open the CFG file in the Rule Brittania directory (...\mods\rule_b) with Notepad
    2. in the game [section] add the two lines below, it will disable the display of names and enable the display of settlement names
    3. save and play

    label_characters = 0
    label_settlements = 1

Hi, my question is about AI reinforcements control. When I attend with two armies a battle, I can't command my reinforcement where they're going to go or determining where they are standing. Normally I can do this.

You need to select that option on the prebattle screen, it's not activated by default.

Edit: just checked again - the necessary file entries are present.

    Hi Gigantus,
What I mean not entirely control over the AI reinforcement army, but limited control.
Normally, I able to determine where the AI r. army would stand, though I give to control to AI in battle. When I click the AI support forces icon at the top right in the beginning the war and select anywhere on the battlefield, then the army goes to the point. But in the game, an "x" symbol appeared.

They are "completely" out of my control.

That's curious - do you have any symbols at the upper right on the screen representing your allied army? If not then somehow that feature is disabled although the required files are present.

    Sure: https://eksiup.com/p/76369743x249

Would you try to attend the game with two armies (selecting comp. option for your reinforcement on the prebattle screen) command the reinforcement where they'll to go?

You'll see your reinforcement completely independent of you.

By the way, same problem exists in Broken Crescent.

I am afraid I have no idea how that happens - but then I usually click on a space in the radar map when I want the army to go somewhere, not directly in the screen. Like: click portrait, click radar map.

Really great work man, can't wait to play it. My only question is, is this compatible with For King or Country? Since I also see you've ported that mod aswell, and I'd love to play them both. There was talk of compatibility with FKoC in that mods dedicated thread, but I couldn't find any mention of it being resolved.

Both are mod foldered - meaning they each get installed into a dedicated directory, no interference.
