Thread: CTD's on battle load screen and after deployment screen

Default CTD's on battle load screen and after deployment screen

I have a steam copy of MW2 TW Kingdoms and have followed the steam compatible installation kindly setup by Gigantus (https://www.twcenter.net/forums/show...eam-compatible). However I am getting the following CTD's:

    1) CTD on the loading screen to start a siege battle against Oxford whilst King Charles is garrisoned in the town (CTD happens whether there is reinforcements or not)

    2) CTD after I click press "Start Battle" after completing the deployment phase

The one I have investigated at this point is the 2) one above.

    Cause:
    1) My Royalist troops on the bridge between York and Leeds (one closest to Leeds) are attacked by a parliamentary army. 1x square behind this bridge army I have reinforcements. The enemy has no reinforcements

    2) Game loads up the battle and puts me in the deployment screen where I deploy my units

    3) I press the "Start Battle" button and I get a CTD with it saying the game closed due to an unspecified error.

The relevant part of my log file is the following:

It appears that the file 'battle_reinforcements.tga' could be the cause of the issue but

Unsuccessful attempts I have tried to fix it:

    1) Replace 'battle_reinforcements.tga' with a version from a different mod:
    - As there is no file named 'battle_reinforcements.tga' in the vanilla game I saved a backup of the FKoC version of the file copy and pasted a file with the same name from Europa Barborum 2 into the relevant folder but this did not change anything and I got the same error log

    2) Replcaing 'events.dat' and 'events.idx' files:
    - I followed the steps from DanDaViking's fix (https://www.twcenter.net/forums/show...Update-Crashes) of replacing these files with the vanilla version but this did not fix it either. I know there is nothing in the log to suggest these files were the issue but I did it anyway

    3) Create a folder with the path 'C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\fkoc\data\ui\generic\eventpics' and store 'battle_reinforcements' in there:
    - I attempted the above but still got a CTD. My new log file is:

Potentially the line "16:07:02.559 [system.io] [trace] file open,,14DB06B0,217308" could suggest an error in the script?

    4) Lower Graphical Settings:
    - I have tried lowering the graphical settings to the lowest possible, in conjunction with step 3) but I still get a CTD

Would anybody know any other possible solutions?

I have the same problem fighting some battles - I was knocking the S*it out of the Royalists up until a few days ago and then crashed after I finished deploying my troops and clicking "Start battle" sometimes it's an unspecified error or just a prompt with no erro listed and then I have to force quit the game.

Is it only happening with those two battles, or every battle you encounter. Have you tried the bridge battle without reinforcements?

Its been a "few" years now but I remember that some bridges were a bit dodgy and often resulted in CTD for inexplicable reasons. and should be avoided. Dorset & Cornwall being one, maybe York & Leeds is another. None of those UI issues should really result in a

"will help build battle station for food" - or rep

Many months later and I am having this issue.

It is definitely something to do with reinforcements. I deleted the advisor information, and when I tried it again, the game still crashed. The logs seem to mention a lot of missing items, from cameras to units to overlays and more. Could it be these?
