Default How do I reskin a unit in ntw?

    Hello everyone,

I am a big fan of ntw and have played it for many years now with a lot of different mods, and since I'm also a full-time digital artist and history buff, I would like to try my hand at re-skinning some of the french units in ntw.
I've never made a mod before so I don't know how I'm going to start doing this, that's why I need your help!

The things I want to mod:

Re-skinning of different models in a ntw french line infantry unit
slightly adjusting the model (making the backpack bigger, adjusting the position of the ammo pouch and adding a pompon to the shako's)
Saving it properly so that it's playable in-game (obviously.)
And saving it somewhere online as a sub-mod for the game when it's finished.

    Thanks in advance!

    Reskinning : easy
    Adjusting models: a little harder
    Adding a pompon : a lot harder
    Saving ; easy

You need PFM (or RPFM) to open pack files, and extract files from it.
Then gimp or photoshop to edit texture.

Milkshape and the plugin to edit existing meshes.

Do you just want to edit the textures of existing units? Ir also add units, edit their stats?

I suggest you start by reading the various tutorial in the workshop.

Hi Steph, thanks for your quick reply, Where do I get PFM or RPFM? I think I would want to add a unit (by copying and adjusting an existing unit) since I want to use it with other mods.
For the pompon, it is already in the game it's just going to be a matter of finding the pompon model and placing it on the unit (I think.)
Also, could you tell me where I could get Milkshape and the plugin? And lastly, could you give me a link to the workshop as well for a tutorial?

    Thanks already!
