    Claims list
    - King Eldacar II (claimed by Della)
    - Claimant 1 (see below) (claimed by Dirty Chai)
    - Claimant 2 (see below) (claimed by Jokern)
    - Claimant 3 (if necessary, see below) (will be claimed by Barry Goldwater if no one else does)
    - Steward of the Reunited Kingdom and Prince of Ithilien (claimed by Oz) (Ith)
    - Prince of Dol-Amroth (claimed by Gandy) (Dol)

    Claimant Backgrounds
    - A nephew via a sister of Eldacar II (background claimed by Dirty Chai)
    - A cousin descended from the brother of Arahael (background claimed by Jokern)
    - A cousin descended from a child of Aranuir
    - A cousin descended from a child of Aranarth
    - A distant relative who has lineage with one of Eldarion’s sisters (he had two of them)

Please be aware that the moderators have discussed this, but we will not be taking claimants who aren't members of House Telcontar. The reasoning behind this is that there were two (or three) occasions where there were Queens of Numenor, yet their heirs remained members of the House of Elros and not a new royal family that took the father's name. This means that males would marry into the royal family of their wives rather than the other way around. Granted, there are no instances of Queens in the following Arnor and Gondor, but would probably still allow female descended claimants to take the throne.

Mirionionath - House of Mirion, Heirs of Angbor the Fearless, Lord of Lamedon
The Lords (and Ladies) of Lamedon, from Angbor to Cúnamir.

    1. Angbor I ‘the Fearless’ (T.A 2,969 to Fo.A. 53): known as ‘the Fearless’ for his iron heart at the sight of the Army of the Dead, Angbor is well remembered among the other heroes of Gondor who fought against Sauron and his dark forces. A seasoned commander, Angbor served King Elessar well during the beginning decades of the Fourth Age. He died at the age of 103, an uncommon age among Gondorian.
    2. Angbor II ‘the Noble’ (Fo.A. 53 to 160): Angbor II continued in his father’s footsteps and sought a military career that mirrored the Fearless Lord. He rode onto various battlefields for the remainder of Elessar’s reign and the beginning of High King Eldarion. He was known as ‘the Noble’ for his good manner and brave heart that matched that of his late father. Angbor would die at the age of 107 and would be succeeded by Axantur.
    3. Axantur ‘the Long-Lived’ (Fo.A. 160 to 289): Axantur was among others who welcomed the reign of Eldacar I, the South-Victor, and actively joined in the martial glory that could be gained from such a ruler. He was among the commanders who joined in the reconquest of Harondor and the many campaigns against the dreaded Haradrim of the South. Axantur died at the great age of 129, the oldest of Angbor’s descendants to rule. He would be succeeded by his grandson, Tarondor.
    4. Tarondor ‘the Unfortunate’ (Fo.A. 289 to 330): Tarondor’s reign started off well, but ended in tragedy. Unlike his noble grandfather, Tarondor did not have the desire to fight nor the will to take up a sword. Instead, he wasted the wealth of his father and grandfather on idle pursuits. It was said he died after drinking some wine, the culprit being poison. He was succeeded by his more able sister, Yávien, and her noble husband, Baranor.
    5. Yávien ‘the Loving’ (Fo.A. 330 to 437): The Lady of Lamedon, famed for her beauty and strong will, revitalized the House of Mirion after the unfortunate reign of Tarondor. Debts were paid, criminals were arrested, sycophants were thrown out, and the Lamedon was put to right. Baranor represented her in battle and beyond the lordship’s boundaries. It was said that, even after his death in 410, at the hands of Easterlings, she remained a loving and caring person. All was set when she died in Fo.A. 437 for her son, Angbor, to take over.
    6. Angbor III ‘the Steadfast’ (Fo.A. 437 to 529): Angbor, son of the Loving Lady of Lamedon, inherited his father’s spirit and joined in the campaigns of Rómendacil. Like others whose fathers and sons died against the Easterlings, Angbor drew his sword and rode into countless battles, gaining much fame and fortune that was repeated and praised in his home of Lamedon. However, there was a downside to this military lifestyle. He did not marry nor returned to Lamedon often, for the battlefield was his home more so than his late mother’s castle. He died of wound sustained by the long campaigns in 529 at the age of 92. He would be succeeded by his cousin Súlimar, who was descended from a brother of Axantur.
    7. Súlimar ‘the Wise’ (Fo.A. 529 to 630): Súlimar was an odd one during the last of the war-loving Lamedon lords that lasted till Tarondor III. He had lived in the shadow of his martial cousin and tended to the lands of Lamedon in his stead. He knew numbers, languages, writing, and all other pursuits that enriched Lamedon. Though viewed as an idle ancestor, he still sent capable leaders and men to join in the campaigns of Aranuir, among them, his son, Angbor. He died at the age of 101 years.
    8. Angbor IV ‘the War-Spirit’ (Fo.A. 630 to 758): Angbor is viewed as the revived namesake, Angbor the Fearless. His rule of Lamedon saw the reigns of two great High Kings, Arciryas and Aragost. His sword was cutting down men as Umbar was reclaimed after a lengthy siege in 688 and his spear pierced the hearts of Dunlendings and Easterlings as he rode from battle to battle. All believed he would outlive Axantur, but suddenly, Angbor died at the age of 128 in Fo.A. 758. His glorious career having revived his household to seek military careers just as their noble ancestor did. He was succeeded by his son, Tarondor.
    9. Tarondor II ‘the Restless’ (Fo.A. 758 to 800): Tarondor II was born a warrior, his robust body fidgeting in the arms of his noble father upon his birth. He was always a reckless and restless boy growing up, fond of swordplay and riding more so than anything. It was even said that he rode into town one day, pointed at a noblewoman, stating “together, we will have a warrior son!” That lady became his legal wife some years later. He fought well under Aragost, but lost his life in the same battle that ended his liege’s life as well in 800 Fo.A. He would be succeeded by his son, Gaerdon.
    10. Gaerdon ‘the Unwilling’ (Fo.A. 800 to 833): Gaerdon was nothing like his father had promised. He was born sickly and feared the sword greatly. Tarondor desired greatly for Gaerdon to take up the sword, going as far as yelling at the boy when he refused. This resulted in an unloving relationship between the two. Even upon his father’s death, the boy did not want to rule, he wanted nothing to do with it. However, he was forced to take up the lordship. Nothing significant happened during his reign. Yet, Gaerdon was found dead one morning, which was believed to be the result of illness. He would be succeeded by his niece, Emerwen.
    11. Emerwen ‘the Majestic’ (Fo.A. 833 to 914): the reign of Emerwen over the lands of Lamedon were considered the twilight years before the coming of the short reigns of her descendants. It is rumored that her husband was secretly a Black Numenorean, others believed he was not truly Gondorian, but a half-bred son whose mother’s heritage likely ensured the lesser years of his descendants. Whatever the case, Emerwen ruled well and just after the short reign of her uncle, Gaerdon. She died at the age of 61 and was succeeded by her son, Tarondor.
    12. Tarondor III (Fo.A. 914 to 968): Tarondor, the third of that name, was well educated and wise male who ruled for 54 years. Nothing of significance happened beyond the cultivation of the land and ensuring the prosperity of Lamedon. He would be succeeded in 968 by his son, Angbor V.
    13. Angbor V (Fo.A. 968 to 1000): Angbor V was a short reign of 32 years and was considered a well educated man like his father. During his time, he continued the policies of his father and ensured the prosperity of Lamedon. He would die at the beginning of the first millennia for the Fourth Age and be succeeded by his brother, Angbor VI, rather than his son Ostomir.
    14. Angbor VI ‘the Idle’ (Fo.A. 1000 to 1020): How Angbor the Idle came to rule rather than Ostomir might be because his nephew was off in Minas Tirith at the time. For twenty years, the Idle Lord of Lamedon let corruption grow and led his nobles do as they pleased. Over time, he became fat and plagued with gout, ensuring little mobility and a reason to continue to do nothing. Angbor VI is not well loved and often disregarded by many. His death came suddenly in 1020, he was neither mourned nor was his body attended while it was buried. The following day after his death, Ostomir returned to Lamedon to take up the Lordship of his late father.
    15. Ostomir ‘the Able’ (Fo.A. 1020 to 1135): Ostomir rule of 115 years was what Lamedon needed after the short and insignificant reigns that followed Emerwen, his grandmother. Angbor VI left the lordship corrupted and neglected and thus ensured a great task for Ostomir to come. Yet Ostomir, encouraged by his wife, would meet this challenge head on and proceed to return his ancestral lands to prosperity. He worked hard to root out corruption, forced taxes to be paid, and arrested individuals responsible for this neglect. Angbor VI’s favorites were deprived of their favors, titles, and exemptions. This forced them all into severe debt before being driven out of Lamedon and to the far reaches of the Reunited Kingdom. Ostomir continued to rule ably and well, ensuring that upon his death in 1135 that his children, Cúnamir, Tarondor, and Morien inherited a prospering lordship.
    16. Cúnamir “the Fair’ (Fo.A. 1135 to ???)

The House of Mirion has ruled the lands of Lamedon for many centuries. Their origins, like that of any Gondorian, are rooted deep within the rich Numenorean heritage that they are descended from; their ancestor being a nobleman known as Mirion, who followed the Faithful to Middle-Earth and fought during the Last Alliance of Men and Elves. Yet none are greater in deed than Angbor, later named ‘the Fearless’ by Aragorn, the future High King Elessar Telcontar. His nickname came from an encounter with the Army of the Dead as Angbor and his men fought against corsairs from Umbar and Harad. Though his men fled at the sight of the Dead, Angbor alone stood firm and faced the dead himself. Gathering up more men, he heeded the call of Isildur’s heir and rode north to aid Minas Tirith. During the beginning of the Fourth Age, Angbor continued to ride as one of Elessar’s seasoned commanders, ensuring the realm was secure against the remnants of Sauron and those who had evil designs upon the reunited Dunedain realm. He died in 53 Fo.A. at the age of 103 years. His son, also named Angbor, would marry a kin of the Northern Dunedain, revitalizing the line of Mirion with the blood of an Arnorian.

In the history of Mirion’s Household, following the death of Angbor and the rise of the Fourth Age, a number of warriors would rise, attempting to honor the deeds and legacy of the Fearless Lord himself. Yet, this would result in a number of issues, both at the times of Tarondor and Gaerdon. Tarondor died young, due to poisoning, and resulted in the succession of his sister, Yávien, whose husband married into her house. Another occasion, under Gaerdon, resulted in his niece succeeding to the lordship as Lady Emerwen. As the times became more peaceful and idle, however, the lives of the Lords of Lamedon were no longer threatened, yet so were the days of the Great Victors and the immense martial glory gained. Lamedon was safely situated within the interior of Gondor, unthreatened by the many foes that laid upon the borders. As a result, Emerwen’s heirs became more educated and less prone to the martial traditions of their past. Though a couple were idle, the line endured until the rise of Cúnamir, son of Ostomir. Though an educated Gondorian, he desired to see Angbor’s legacy revived. It is known that, during his youth, he joined the Gondorian Army and eventually became a guard within Minas Tirith. His brother, Targon, also favored these desires, following his brother into the military, but gaining a career in the Reunited Kingdom’s navy instead. It was odd that the son of Ostomir desired this return as threats began to grow around the Reunited Kingdom… and even within the realm itself. For with the idleness and descending madness of an heirless King, Cúnamir feared the repeating of an event that broke Gondor in half. He needed a stronger arm with the storm that loomed over the horizon.

House of Uzbur the Easterling, Uzburnas
There are many converts to the Ways of the West. Many primitive natives of Middle-Earth who were forced by the sword or diplomatically persuaded to see the error of their ways and join the Reunited Kingdom. During the reign of Araglas, an Easterling known as Uzbur was captured and his tribe converted to the Ways of the West. Some of the tribe say he was forced to do it with sword pointed at his throat, others claim he saw the necessity in order to live. Whatever the case, his clan was partitioned and sent to the various corners of the Dunedain's dominion. His main section of the family came to settle in the northern parts of Ithilien, near Cair Andros and a place close enough to their roots. However, as time went on though, they moved further and further south until his descendant, Gizik, found himself living in the shadows of Osgiliath. From Gizik rose three children, Kaidu, Araslan, and Oyna. Once nomadic warriors, they have come to the city as mercenaries. Though they are lesser men, a mercenary's life has enriched and ensured that they do not go hungry. Some traditions remain such as burying their grandfather in their homeland and understanding the ways of horse, bow, and sword as their ancestors before. It is hard to say if their ancestor would approve, but it is better than being dead.

    Kaidu Uzburnas, son of Gizik

Your ancestors have long opposed those who follow the Valar over Morgoth and Sauron. The dark stain on your ancestry makes many weary of your family, though you turned to the light and accepted the ways of the West. Your ancestors were considered to be barbaric and primitive. Halboronionath - the House of Halboron, heirs to Hirluin the Fair, Lords of Pinnath Gelin

In the ancient days of the Second Age, mighty Númenor reached out to the indigenous Men of Middle-earth, who even then were defined as 'Middle Men' and 'Swarthy Men' like their descendants. At first the Númenoreans came with benign intentions, liberating these enslaved peoples from the grasp of Sauron in an alliance with the Elves under Gil-galad of the Noldor, and establishing colonies along the western coast of Middle-earth in peace...but in time, their worldly power and ambition (chief above all their ambition to avert the inevitable death that all Men went through) corrupted them. The colonies which had originally been founded as peaceful trading hubs evolved into militarized strongholds; negotiations for trading contracts became demands for tribute and vassalage, backed by Númenorean swords and longbows; and fleets sailed up Middle-earth's rivers bearing legions of Númenorean soldiers not to protect and liberate those they came across, but to conquer and enslave without mercy. These policies began under Tar-Ancalimon and accelerated under Ar-Adûnakhôr, the first King of Númenor who did not take a Quenya name. Even later on, as silent, subdued reverence for Eru Ilúvatar was replaced by ostentatious temples consecrated to Melkor who these fallen sons and daughters of Númenor named the 'Lord of All and Giver of Freedom', the native Men of Middle-earth were collected for horrific sacrifices to the new God of Anadûnê (as the growing majority of the Men of the West, who followed their Kings into error and tyranny, now insisted on calling their homeland). Such was the gravity of old Númenor's crimes against the peoples of Middle-earth that it poisoned the hearts of the ancestors of the Haradrim and Easterlings with an undying hatred for all things Westron, and to this day their descendants are frequently still at odds with those descended from Númenor.

But not all Númenoreans were like these 'King's Men': a minority still remained humble enough to hold on to their reverence for Eru Ilúvatar and their friendship to Elvenkind, and to not lose sight of things beyond life and power in this world. Of these 'Faithful' the best remembered are Elendil, his sons and their followers who moved to Middle-earth just in time to avoid the Downfall of Númenor when their liege Ar-Pharazôn dared to invade the sacred Undying Lands; but they were not the only Faithful to have migrated to Middle-earth, nor the first. Many preceded them, fleeing mounting persecution by the arrogant and iron-fisted King's Men at home, and these earlier generations of Faithful are best remembered for founding Pelargir. Less well-remembered among their ranks was Halboron Hadorion ('Halboron son of Hador'), a nobleman of the forests of Hyarrostar (southeastern Númenor) who sailed for Middle-earth with all his kin and retainers early in the reign of Ar-Gimilzôr. Finding the coast of Anfalas already dominated by the colonies of the unfriendly King's Men, they made their way further inland and settled in a region that they aptly named Pinnath Gelin, the Green Hills, for its...well, green hills and forests. There they strove to befriend the locals, reaching out to and trying to make peace with even those so traumatized by the actions of their corrupted cousins that they shot at Númenoreans on sight, and to protect them from the depraved depredations of the King's Men to the south however they could. When Elendil came and assumed kingship over the Dúnedain still in Middle-earth, Halboron's great-grandson Vinyaher readily swore allegiance to him, and his descendants have not broken faith with Gondor ever since.

Pinnath Gelin is a naturally beautiful land of hills, forests and small rivers, but not particularly rich. Furthermore it is a quite remote region of Gondor, stowed away in the kingdom's northwestern corner with few roads or settlements of note: most of its people, descended from the native Middle-men, live in scattered villages, farming in the valleys or fishing in the streams or chopping down timber for a living much as their ancestors had. The Halborionath, or House of Halboron, have married with their subjects more than a few times, as much out of choice as out of necessity due to the unwillingness of most Dúnedanic houses to send their kin so far to their remote and politically insignificant corner of the Kingdom, and so in their veins the blood of Númenor has been diluted (the uncharitable would say 'polluted') to a greater degree than most of the rest of the realm's nobility. Regardless of the opinion (often found coming from houses vastly younger and less established than theirs no less) that they were mongrel hicks however, the descendants of Halboron have never shirked their duties to the realm, and famously Lord Hirluin the Fair rode from the Green Hills at the head of a company of 300 green-garbed lancers to take part in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields as part of the Aragorn's army. There he laid down his life for the man who would be King and for the freedom of all Gondorians from evil, a death his descendants can be proud of as they extended his millennia-old line into the radiant Fourth Age.

Lords of Pinnath Gelin from Hirluin I 'the Fair' to Hirluin III 'the Good'

    1. Hirluin I, called 'the Fair' (reigned 3A 2965-3019): Nicknamed 'the Fair' for his winsome looks and manner, which made him one of late-Third-Age Gondor's most eligible bachelors - a rarity for the usually isolated and forgotten Lords of Pinnath Gelin. During the War of the Ring, he organized a troop of 300 of the bravest and most skilled riders of the Green Hills and set out to fight in the East, joining his strength to that of Aragorn and the Grey Company as the latter made his way up the Anduin. He then perished at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields soon after, felled by a mûmak rider's arrow as he charged to aid the faltering Rohirrim that day.
    2. Mablung II (r. 3A 3019-4A 180): Hirluin I's son, who rode at his side on the Pelennor Fields and fought to keep his body safe from rampaging Haradrim and Orcs after he fell. He subsequently took up the lordship of Pinnath Gelin at the relatively young age of 32 and returned to live in peace with his family and people among the idyllic Green Hills, where he died in his sleep at the ripe old age of 212.
    3. Mardil (r. 4A 180-290): Mablung's son. He was content to laze about the Green Hills like his father had before him, and was thus reluctant to participate in King Eldacar I's war of expansion against the Haradrim. Nevertheless, he did his duty and furnished a regiment of spearmen and lancers from his lands for the conflict, sent forth under his son's command. To his great relief, said son returned home alive and safe, though the same could not be said for over half of their warriors.
    4. Mirendur (r. 4A 290-410): Mardil's son. A reckless hothead in his youth, he jumped at the chance to command Pinnath Gelin's contingent in the future Hyarmendacil's war with the Haradrim, and thus participated in the victorious reconquest of Harondor. Nevertheless, the sight of the brutality of battle and the deaths of over half his men traumatized him and he returned home a changed man, having hung up his sword and committed himself to peace and healing. Near the end of his life he committed only as few soldiers to the war-effort of King Artamir against the Easterlings; however his eldest son Huor, whose daughter Esteliel had married Prince Aranarth and who reminded Mirendur of his old, youthful self, had gone with them - insisting on representing the House of Halboron on the battlefield so as to not disgrace the family name - and died in the same battle that the King and Steward Turin the Fair had. Huor's death broke his elderly father, who wasted away of grief a week after hearing of his death.
    5. Borondir, called 'the Bold' (r. 4A 410-501): Mirendur's grandson through his son Huor. Following his father's death in battle and his grandfather's from grief, he committed himself and the strength of Pinnath Gelin fully to the war with the Easterlings. Alongside his brother-in-law King Aranarth and their allies from Rohan, he helped clear southern and western Rhovanion of Easterling rule. Alas at the moment of the Reunited Kingdom's great triumph in Rhovanost, the victory which made Aranarth into Rómendacil or 'East-victor', Borondir was struck by a poisoned Easterling arrow and died of the festering wound a few months later in early 4A 501.
    6. Hirluin II, called 'the Homely' (r. 4A 501-603): Borondir's son, who got his nickname from his less than stellar appearance, in sharp contrast to his ancestor the better-known Hirluin. Him having a face only his mother could love did not prevent him from faithfully serving his uncle Rómendacil and cousin Aranuir, though.
    7. Boron VI (r. 4A 603-685): Hirluin II's son. He did not follow in his father's martial footsteps, taking little part in the wars of Aranuir and then the latter's son Arciryas. When at long last he ran out of excuses and captains to send in his stead, he reluctantly took command of the Pinnath Gelin contingent in the latter's war with Umbar and tried to steer clear of the fighting, nominating himself to lead the defense of the royal army's camp while they laid siege to the Haven of Umbar. Ironically this attempt to guarantee his safety got him killed instead, felled in a Black Númenorean night raid while the majority of the King's soldiers were doing fine (more or less) in the siege lines in front of him.
    8. Halboron XII (r. 4A 685-747): Boron VI's son. He took over command of the Pinnath Gelin regiment in Arciryas' army following his craven father's death and participated in the successful final assault on Umbar's walls. Though content to retire to the Green Hills afterward, he did not hesitate to join in Aragost's wars when this new and warlike King assumed power...and died almost immediately afterward, slain while repelling an Angmarim ambush of the royal army's vanguard in the far north of Middle-earth only two years into Aragost's reign.
    9. Boron VII (r. 4A 747-782): Halboron XII's son. Following in his father's footsteps, he fought ably beneath Aragost's command in his many wars, making a name for himself as a brave and determined cavalry commander. He died in one of the undefeated King's many battles against the Easterlings, and was given a hero's burial even as the rest of Arnor and Gondor celebrated his liege's latest triumph.
    10. Thalion (r. 4A 782-800): Boron's son. He too served in the wars of Aragost/Hyarmendacil II, and like the past two generations of Lords of Pinnath Gelin, died in them - in his case, he was killed directing the reserve into action in Hyarmendacil's penultimate battle, weeks before the next battle in which his liege was actually killed. The lords who followed him, mindful of how their line had shed its blood in wars far away from home three times in rapid succession, were wary of committing the strength of Pinnath Gelin to the Reunited Kingdom's future struggles - and often too consumed by internal strife in the normally idyllic and peaceful Green Hills to do so even when they wanted.
    11. Elboron II (r. 4A 801-888): Thalion's son, born posthumously; he had been conceived only three months before his father's death in battle. Before his birth, there was a conflict between his mother Ithilwen and his uncle Gwindor over the succession to the lordship of Pinnath Gelin. King Arahael interceded in Ithilwen's favor, ruling that her and Thalion's child should sit as Lord or Lady of Pinnath Gelin, but Gwindor seized the Halboronionath seat with his armed retainers and locked Ithilwen and Elboron out of the latter's rightful keep for some years until the King's wars had ceased and royal men-at-arms could be spared to drive him away. This they did bloodlessly, for Gwindor saw that he could not withstand them, but he and those who still followed him became outlaws in the hills and troubled Pinnath Gelin for years to come. In 4A 888, when these brigands' depredations could no longer be contained, Elboron marshaled a small force and set out to suppress them, but was lured into an ambush and killed at his uncle's hand.
    12. Labadal (r. 4A 888-960): Elboron II's son. He rebuffed his great-uncle's assault when the latter, fresh from having killed his father, came to seize the lordship which was his by right and law; but, the royal court of Kings Arahael and especially Araglas was loath to once more bestir itself to get involved with distant and poor Pinnath Gelin, and so Labadal was unable to finish the bandits off. Even after Gwindor was ridden down by Labadal's retainers, the outlaws persisted under his son (Labadal's first cousin once removed) Maeglin.
    13. Halboron XIII, called 'the Bad' (r. 4A 960-1043): Labadal's son. He was a severe and paranoid ruler who, having been told (as had his father before him) by the court of Minas Anor that he should sort his own backyard out, governed his people harshly and was ever on the lookout for conspiracies centered around placing his first cousin twice removed, Maeglin, in his chair. At his order, his men ruthlessly questioned anyone who he suspected of harboring sympathies for Maeglin and his outlaws, innocent or no. Ironically, the thirteenth Halboron's tyrannical rule actually generated a successful conspiracy to oust him; in the 83rd year of his reign, his servants allowed Maeglin's men into his keep, where they promptly murdered him and imprisoned the rest of his family. All of the latter conveniently and inexplicably died in Maeglin's custody over the following years save for Halboron's young grandson Turendur, who another servant had taken pity on and spirited away at the cost of her own life.
    14. Maeglin, called 'the Accursed' (r. 4A 1043-1070): Halboron XIII's first cousin twice removed, and son of Thalion's brother Gwindor. An old man upon his successful usurpation of the lordship of Pinnath Gelin, he was never recognized as an official lord by the realm, but by this point King Eldacar II had sunk into a deep depression over the death of his wife and the royal court had vastly more important matters on their hands to deal with over the Green Hills. Though the smallfolk of Pinnath Gelin had supported Maeglin's overthrow of Halboron XIII because of the latter's tyrannical ways, Maeglin proved no better and soon earned the resentment of the very same people who put him in power, which he dealt with even more brutally than Halboron ever had even at his worst. Turendur, Halboron's grandson, had been allowed to escape Maeglin's custody as a child thanks to the aid of one of the servants put off by the realization that the new boss was even worse than the old boss, and returned in the late 1060s as a grown man to reclaim his birthright. The people of Pinnath Gelin readily rose up in Turendur's name and lynched Maeglin's own son, Malbeth, when the latter made the mistake of trying to terrorize a village back into line with too few men at his side. Maeglin was determined not to flee back to the woods where he had been born and grew up however, and feigned surrender before having Turendur (who had let his guard down) assassinated. When this enraged Turendur's vastly more numerous supporters into attacking his keep rather than disheartening them, he threw himself off the roof rather than surrender.
    15. Hirluin III, called 'the Good' (r. 4A 1070-present): Halboron XIII's great-grandson through his grandson Turendur and oldest son Hirgon. He assumed the lordship of Pinnath Gelin after the assassination of his father Turendur at the hands of the usurper Maeglin, who killed himself almost immediately afterward. A welcome refresher after the atrocious reigns of his great-grandfather and distant cousin, he has proven to be the exact sort of amiable and kindly ruler his people needed - hence his nickname - but one who was most reluctant to involve the Green Hills in affairs abroad or even to travel far beyond his borders. He married locally and expected his only child to do the same, but young Hirgon grew up to be a restless and rebellious young man and struck out to travel the world as an officer of the King's army, winning acclaim in his own right on foreign battlefields and marrying the sister of the Lord of Lamedon while his father continued to sit in Pinnath Gelin doing little of note. Father and son have since found themselves at odds, with the spirited and daring Hirgon eager to see Pinnath Gelin take a more active role in the Kingdom's affairs (especially now, with a mad King and a struggling court) while his conservative father is content to remain in their little corner of Middle-earth, always welcoming of visitors but unwilling to change or involve themselves for their sake.

    Hirluin Hirgonion Halboronionath, Hirgon and Morien's son, age 5 (b. 4A 1135)

Ornendil Ostoherion of the House of Telcontar

Ornendil comes from a cadet branch of the House of Telcontar, descended from the Prince Elendur Aranuirion - second son of King Aranuir and brother to King Arciryas Umbardacil. For over 600 years this branch (from now on referred to as the 'Elendurionath', or House of Elendur) has faithfully served their royal kin in duties great and small, whether it was governing distant provinces, tending to the royal ships or handling the treasury in Minas Anor. Ornendil's father, Ostoher, had fallen in the first category: he was one of Umbar's captains when the city was raided and Prince Falastur killed some fifty years ago, and died sounding the Haven's largest bell to warn of the attack. Ornendil could not find it in himself to mourn for the man beyond what custom demanded; at the time he was but six years old, and had almost never seen his constantly-busy old man.

Ornendil has since grown into a dashing young (by Dúnedanic standards) man. He is not lacking in the looks department, being conventionally very handsome for a Dúnedan - tall and well-built with long limbs, a healthy amount of muscle from hunting and riding that was belied by a smooth grace, and a fair countenance that contrasted with his long straight dark hair and silver eyes. Coupled with his easygoing and friendly manner, Ornendil has found it very easy to make friends and catch the eye of the opposite sex since he was young. Unfortunately that is about all he is good for, as the man is only a little more skilled at sums than arms. It is not necessarily that he cannot hold his own in a fight - he does well enough in the training yard - but he blanches at the sight of blood (especially his own) and, though he would never admit it, doesn't have the stomach nor brains for a sustained major battle. Consequently he found himself a comfortable niche in the Reunited Kingdom's diplomatic corps, spending time in the courts of Rohan, Rhovanion, Dorwinion, Dale and Nurn assuaging the local kings' fears and assuring them that there is everything to gain and nothing to lose from maintaining the friendliest of relations with Minas Anor. And, of course, helping himself to the local vintages, delicacies and women while he was at it.

It was in these foreign courts, so far away from the prying eyes of the Steward and the King's loyal men, that the idea of assuming kingship entered Ornendil's mind. After all, King Eldacar's behavior - or lack thereof - had become known even in these distant lands, and many were the foreign kings and princes who feared that the Reunited Kingdom would falter & fail in protecting them, while the Kingdom's enemies grew bolder. Were he to successfully propose himself to succeed old Eldacar and sit the great white throne, their friends would have no need to worry, while surely their enemies would have every reason. Besides, how hard could ruling really be? As far as Ornendil has figured, he could always leave the most difficult and unglamorous tasks to his Steward and servants, while he preened about basking in the awe of a people grateful to be under the rule of a new, younger and far better-looking master.

-Ecthelion IV Húrinion, Prince of Ithilien, Steward of Gondor-

Ecthelion IV isn’t a merry man. He has endured hardships without measure as the sole ruler of the Reunited Kingdom for many, many years. Burdened, he has aged prematurely, silver crowning his temples and gracing his jaw. The steward is increasingly unpopular, as the misrule of the kingdom is always associated with bad advisors, not a King unable to fulfil his sacred and high office. But, he is also tainted by bastardy, incest and his unfortunate marriage. Ecthelion’s grandmother was Beruthiel, the Harlot, the sole child of Faramir II a man of great fortune, great fame and greater appetites, who just collapsed one day over his meal. Once he died, his daughter and heiress was forbidden and barred from claiming the stewardship, instead the office was decreed to be held by her husband, in her right and on her behalf. The first man of many to hold that title and become her husband was one of the king’s leading courtiers, her maternal uncle, a very elderly man who also happened to be his paternal cousin. The marriage soon proved to be a poor match, with Beruthiel refusing to yield her status and bow before a man. Also, she often indulged in the pleasures of the flesh, out the wedlock. One day her husband died, grasping his chest, pain twisting his face: officially his weak heart was overcame by the joy of his wife’s pregnancy’s, but many whisper he had discovered his son was not his. Whatever the truth might be, his widow remarried soon thereafter, to her handsomest retainer, a man of great mirth and charming smile. Unfortunately, for him, he wanted to rein Beruthiel and when her husband threatened the heiress of Hurin with revealing to the realm the extent of her immorality, Eärcil was executed under fabricated charges. Not before he could father a daughter of infamous fierceness, a child who was said to be her mother’s very image, in all but debauchery.

The King, alarmed at the behaviour of Beruthiel and the loss of a second acting steward, nobleman of note none less, married her with his own uncle, a stern man, Araphor, of the House of Telcontar, the only one Beruthiel wasn’t daring enough to defy or cuckold, at least openly. After he died in battle the fourth husband caused a major outrage, for Brandir was a mere commoner, picked up as lover by Beruthiel and married out of lust. He thought himself to be a grand lord, naming himself Minastir, princely name, and when pleasure died out, the daughter of Faramir II quickly disposed of him, poisoned. He fathered a son, much reviled by the court, the smallfolk and her mother alike, a harsh, cold and unforgiving man, Belecthor. Her next choice of a husband was again not hers, truly, but the king’s, trying to appease the kingdom’s nobility and reinforce the ties with Arnor. He, however, acted as steward merely few months, as Beruthiel divorced him, alleging he was a lesser man, simple-minded and unable to perform in bed. At her very elderly age she married for the last time, forcing her second husband’s grand-nephew to spouse her, taken as she was for his beauty and the faint memory of his long-dead relative. He was surprisingly kind and the most beloved steward to have ruled since Faramir II. Beruthiel simply retired to her forebears’ halls of the dead one day, at the break of dawn, and she gave up a life that was too much of a burden already.

Her son, Elboron II, succeeded as steward immediately, but he couldn’t rule for long, for he was killed by the Haradrim when Umbar was attacked, alongside the Crown prince, his own sister-son; for whom he was acting as tutor. Since the King retreated into melancholy and drowned in sorrow, Ecthelion, the new steward, had to take up the mantle of his forebears and act as regent of the kingdom. His policies were of sage intention and good will, trying to hold and keep the realm together, a kingdom who was hastily falling apart in all fronts. The steward’s very unpopular match to a woman of the House of Eorl was part of his grand scheme, renewing the friendship between Rohan and Gondor and an attempt to secure the northern borders of the later realm. The marriage to the steadfast Hild yielded two sons, but she was a wild spirit, indomitable, who liked to ride like a flame through the hills of Ithilien and wished not to settle in any place. Alas, lady Hild died in an accident, her skull cracked when she fell of her horse crossing a stream. Their eldest son, Cirion, inherited some of her mother’s traits, and many saw that as the symbol of the steward's line decay in both blood and grace, no matter that he proved able, quick and upright. As to silence rivals, the second born, Denethor, was of Numenor’s blood in every sense: tall, grey of eyes and dark of hair. However, the inherent Grace of Faramir I’s line, of Hurin’s blood, that of Númenor, is better seen in the determined gaze of Turin, rather than in Denethor’s indolent, pleasant nature.

What is bound to happen next is not known to any men in Arda.

A troubled man, for troubled times. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Ecthelion IV and Cirion Roquenar in the steps leading to the throne.

The stewards ('ARANDUR') and their years in office: from Faramir I to Echtelion IV (0-1140 FA).

    1. Faramir I the Great (2983-82 FA). Hero of the War of the Ring, first Prince of Ithilien. His son:
    2. Elboron I the Elf-Friend (82-182 FA). Son of Faramir and Eowyn of Rohan. Cultured and noble, he enjoyed the lasting peace left by Elessar and continued by his heir. His court in Emyn Arnen was said to be one of the last places on earth where men could dance and feast with the music of elven-kind, when the numbers of Legolas’ companions were still great in Ithilien. His son:
    3. Barahir II the Magnificent (182-278 FA). The steward and personal friend of Eldarion, the son and heir of King Elessar, he survived his King and kept living some decades into Hyarmendacil’s reign, but he was never the same and retired in old age to Emyn Arnen, bequeathing his title and office to his heir while still alive. He’s remembered in folk tales as the archetypical wise steward. His son:
    4. Ecthelion III the Relenting (278-319 FA). He firstly refused to support the King into conquering Harondor, for he saw greater trouble than benefit in such an enterprise, finally, he relented and personally swayed the council into the campaign. He lost both sons in the conquest of Harondor, who the King embalmed with his own hands, remorseful. His nephew:
    5. Turin III the Fair (319-410 FA). Brother-in-law of King Artamir, for he had married Turin’s twin, his identical and equally beautiful sister. He had little to boast of save his proverbial looks. He died in battle against the Balchoth and the Jangovars. Unlike the king’s, his body wasn’t recovered. It was said the Easterlings skinned his face before he was killed and that his boiled skull was turned into a cup for a chieftain. His younger brother:
    6. Thorondir II the Brief (410-411). He died in battle against the very same people his brother did, he was in office for merely eight months. Thorondir died while slaying with his own hand the chieftain that once killed his kinsman. His son:
    7. Turin IV the Old (411-555). Initially called the Young. In dire contrast with his father his reign surpassed every known rule by any steward to date. He grew to very old age and served both Rómendacil and Aranuir ably and diligently. Turin IV’s rule marked the fifth centenary of the Reunited Kingdom and alongside the King presided the jubilee. He is also known as the Historian, for he left a detailed written account of his days and recorded the events of his time thoughtfully. He was friend of a certain Ferumbras Took, a hobbit, who in his later years lived with the steward and acted as his personal scribe and page. One day the steward simply gave up his life, laying to rest in Minas Tirith’s Houses of the Dead, never awakening. All the stewards from this point have Turin V as their common ancestor. His grandson:
    8. Turin V the Younger (555-600). Unremarkable. He wasn’t suited for any office or responsibility. He was said to enjoy the Hobbit’s pipe-weed and spent most his time in menial tasks, like fishing or gardening with his friend Bilbo Gardner, Ferumbras’ sister-grandson. He delegated all his affairs to his most immediate relative, his uncle, who died but two weeks before Turin, never getting to inherit the stewardship. His cousin:
    9. Barahir III the Sailor (600-701). Shared the glory of the victory against Umbar. He was said to favour Pelargir over other cities to stand as seat of the court while the King was away from Gondor. Loved the seas and sailed through all the West, travelled as far North as the Grey Havens, the Blue Mountains and the Bay of Forochel, visiting the dwarves and the savages who once harboured the first chieftain of the Dunedain. His undoing came during his last travel, when he pretended to sail beyond Umbar and explore the vast South. It’s said troll-men devoured him in their strange and remote realm, alongside his whole crew, turning the chewed bones into dices. His cousin:
    10. Eradan II the Lame (701-750). Died of a long, simmering, debilitating illness. Usually-bedridden and sick, couldn’t marry or begot any children of his own. He was a dutiful administrator, writing or dictating from his own bedroom, where sometimes the council was held. His brother:
    11. Cirion II the Patient (750-810). A good counterpart and balance to Aragost, or Hyarmendacil II, a most bold and impatient King, who rushed into action, his rule being almost contemporary year by year to the king’s. His calmed demeanour spared the realm much trouble. His son:
    12. Faramir II the Hunter (810-907). Pleasant and voracious, his appetites were inherited by his only daughter, who he left as sole heiress:
    13. Beruthiel I the Merry (907-1011), alongside: Beregond II, Eärcil I, Araphor I, Minastir I, Beren II, Araphor II. Her story is long and colourful. Her son:
    14. Elboron II the Loyal (1011-1090). He was an upright, honourable and fundamentally good-natured man, albeit not the brightest. Elboron carried his duties responsibly and died defending his royal sister-son, whom he tried to save making a last stand to allow him board into a ship. The harbour was already taken and the ships burned. His son:
    15. Ecthelion IV the Weary (1090-present day, 1140).

Later on, Faramir I had it repaired by the dwarven smiths of Gimli, with inlaid mithril, same material they used to repair the massive gates of Minas Tirith. Ever since, it has been a heirloom with renewed legacy and carries even more significance. House of Imrazôr
    Princes of Dol Amroth

The men of Dol Amroth in battle against the Haradrim.

The line of Imrazôr and the Elf-maiden Mithrellas is numbered amongst the oldest and proudest of Gondor's Numenorean blooded nobility, its founders being the most prominent amongst the Faithful that followed Elendil east during the Downfall. Their city, named for the fallen Elf-King Amroth, became the jewel of the bay of Belfalas, a hub for trade flowing up the Anduin towards Pelargir and Osgiliath. After the rise of Umbar and the loss of Gondor's hegemony over the southern lands, Dol Amroth became a shield against the corsairs of Umbar, who were the bitter foes of the Princes for many centuries until the fall of the Dark Tower. The men of the Swan bled for the both the Kings and Stewards against the armies of Sauron, be they the Easterlings and Haradrim or the foul pit-spawned Orcs that marched forth from the east under the banner of the Great Eye. During the War of the Ring, Prince Imrahil valiantly led the men of Dol Amroth in aid of his brother-in-law the Steward Denethor at the fields of Pelennor, before later taking up arms again under King Elessar at the last battle at the Morannon, the very mouth of Sauron's domain. He is remembered amongst the greatest of the Princes, one of the great heroes of the War of the Ring that fought to preserve the freedom of men. A statue of him stands within the city as a monument to his wisdom and heroism.

Since the restoration of the line of kings, the Princes of Dol Amroth have known only prosperity. With Umbar crushed and the kingdom in good order, trade renewed and the coffers of the Prince swelled dramatically. They are firmly within the King's inner circle of advisors, as they have always been, perhaps second only to the line of Stewards in courtly prominence; the Prince of Dol Amroth commands much sway on the council, especially among those lords and petty nobles that have domains in the west of the Kingdom. Whilst the Stewards often remained at home in times of war, the Princes of Dol Amroth were the first to heed the call to war, summoning the famed Swan Knights to ride into battle against whatever enemies the all-conquering High Kings would bid them strike down. They boast not only of these previous glories but of the pedigree of their bloodline - on three separate occasions has a daughter of a Prince been taken as a wife to one of the High Kings of the House Telcontar. Long years of victory has made them proud, perhaps even haughty, and they jealously guard their position as the most powerful of Gondor's nobility. During the troubled reign of Eldacar, the Steward has thus far been able to preserve the political support of the fickle Prince Minastir, though with the King's ailing health and the succession in doubt, none can tell if this fragile consensus within the council will hold.

    Lineage of the Princes (WIP)

Prince Imrahil TA 2955 - FA 34 (100 years): One of the heroes of the War of the Ring. Saved the life of his nephew Faramir and fought at the fields of Pelennor and at the battle of the Morannon. Became great friends with King Eomer of Rohan, with the latter wedding the Prince's daughter Lothíriel. He remained one of King Elessar's most valued counsellors and one of his chief commanders until illness took him at the age of one hundred. Was succeeded by his eldest son, Elphir.

Prince Elphir TA 2987 - FA 67 (101 years): Remained at Dol Amroth during his father's exploits during the War of the Ring to defend the city. Only ruled Dol Amroth for a short while and was a less warlike man than his father, but was nonetheless respected for his patience and wisdom. Married again later in life to the daughter of a Dunedain nobleman, his political influence and impeccable bloodline ensured that their daughter Emelisse was betrothed to the Prince Eldarion, son of Elessar. Through her, he is a common ancestor of all High Kings that followed hence.

    Prince Alphros
TA 3017 - FA 95 (99 years): The last of the Princes to be born during the Third Age. Was only a child during the War of the Ring, and grew up during the prosperity of the Elessar's reign. Sign of the aratar:
You are considered wise beyond your years, able to remember much and many with a simple glance. People come to you for advise and counsel, for your mind is full of knowledge. However, your personality is not the brightest. It is grim and cold, some think you are always unhappy and without heart. This is just merely a misunderstanding for those who do not know you well.

The Kings of Arnor and Gondor are a rich tapestry of history and legend that many within Middle-Earth know of. Valiant kings, wise rulers, experienced soldiers, and even the most hardened of villains exist within this very history that is told to all. Their legacy is still seen today in many places such as Minas Tirith and Osgiliath and they continue to serve as an example for future generations.

Your family has jewels; rings, necklaces, the sort. Yet one stands above them all, in both beauty and craftsmanship. This piece is unlike any other and it uniquely crafted, ensuring that it has stood out for generations. It has been worn by your father and his father before him. Perhaps something inherited by your mother from her family. Wherever it came from, it is beautiful beyond compare and serves as a symbol of your family's legacy.

    House of Lothrandir
Lords of Linhir and Heirs of Lothrandir of the Grey Company

    Legacy of Lothrandir
During the War of the Ring, Lothrandir was a Ranger of the Grey Company. When Aragorn, son of Arathorn, liberated Linhir from the Haradrim he fought alongside him. When Aragorn moved on Pelargir, he fought beside him. He held a love for the shore, having fought in the wilderness for so long, and longed to return. By the end of the War of the Ring he bade farewell to King Elessar and went south. Linhir was in need of repair, and still vulnerable to outside invasion, so he helped orchestrate its repair. After deftly handling the rebuild and having been without a Lord for direction, the people looked to Lothrandir for leadership. His new title was granted and blessed to him by King Elessar. The war did not end bloodshed for Lothrandir as he had to unsheathe his sword multiple times in defense of Linhir.

    Ethirandir- Age 60

In Southern Lebennin he is known to be harsh at times but fair to all. They never heard of an affront to their lands that he did not personally tend to. Pirates and bandits all have been dealt with by sea and by land. He has several trusted advisors that sit on his counsel and tend to the goings ons of Linhir but he makes himself available when need be. When people flocked to Linhir in recent years he made a home for them as well. His family had long held a relationship to the King going back to the days of Elessar but as time has past that relationship is little more than a remembrance. Now, with the tide of the Kingdom feeling of swift change, Ethirandir watches the waves ebb and flow over the shores, wondering where the Kingdom might turn for leadership.

Caladir, son of the Nimdilreth, is a friend of the north. For the past century it has been that a flame-haired son of a Telcontariel has strode the north, famously visiting as far west as Tol Morwen, setting eyes upon Gundabad, and washing his sword in the rolling waves of the sea of Rhûn. He was born of a love between a mountain-climber and a princess, and raised in the halls of Imladris. He is said to speak multiple tongues in a fluent flow, and is a rather famed musician. Caladir has given much of his life to the service and aid of folk in the northern realms, making well-known and well-connected in Arnor and Rhovanion.

Amal, known as the Nimdilreth, was a famed bard like his son and a carrier of the blood of old Beorn. Eldîs, still yet living, was once a scarlet princess of Minas Tirith, but her desires and wants pulled her to the north to Imladris where she resides to this day, having long ago resigned from the world of men. Their son, Caladir, takes after his mother.
