I am currently making a RTW portrait submod (for EB 1) and have completed Greek, barbarian and eastern ones. Roman, Carthaginian (semitic) and Nomadic ones are in the making.
I am making the portraits in the same style as the Third Age Total War portraits.

Ok, nice. Can you show them?

Would you guys prefer more historical illustration portraits or ones of reenactors or celebrities with added ancient clothing/armour like the Ewan Mcgregor one?
Im currently working on the Greek ones again

I've actually removed most of the reenactors portraits. They don't suit well with the other portraits and actually, I disliked the portrait with Ewan Mcgregor because seing celebrities in the game ruin a bit the campaign for me, that's also why I've already removed most of the celebrities I had on my own build.

Here are all the non celebrity/reenactor Barbarian portraits
I worked on these portraits for quite a while so im hesitant to delete them, you can just pick and choose which once you want. You can also work more on them if you like.
I will later upload the whole package when i finish the other cultures portraits.

I know your feelings mate. I also worked hours on the reenactors portraits and it hurted when I had to delete them. At least I left some of the best in other agents, for example, diplomats and spies have more reenactors portraits and in case of Carthage, the rebel Generals from the cul_7 also have a lot of the older reenactors portraits.

Thanks for the portraits! They will be very useful to add more diversity to my project. I will credit you too

Anyways i will make two kinds of portrait folders, one exclusively photorealistic (historical movie actors or reenactors) and the other ones just illustration portraits. Then you guys can choose the ones you prefer (:

Those portraits look great, THG170! That's +1 rep. Also belated +1 rep to Lusitanio since I wasn't able to do that initially.

I'd like to chime in once again by confirming beyond shadow of a doubt that yes, the portraits work fully as intended if you start a *new campaign* instead of using them in an existing campaign. The Romans now have tons of different portraits and from what I can tell I rarely see family members with the same portrait during the same generation. There are so many portraits that the likelihood of that diminishes greatly. It's fantastic! It really gives a very personal feel to the game and the faction, instead of the cookie cutter portraits from vanilla RTW where almost everyone looks the same.

I even like the sillier portraits, such as Aragorn from LOTR sneaking in there, along with Sean Bean.

Please PLEASE tell me that they snuck in James Purefoy and Ciaran Hinds from Rome. Even better...Michael Palin as Pontius Pilate.

    Thanks Roma_Vitrix!

I will also add the last Dacian portraits to the submod.

I do have good news for this submod, because I kept working on it. Currenty I'm playing a long Carthage campaign to test my civil war script but I keep adding or replacing portraits. I also have the experience of playing with the portraits and I must say that I do not miss the old portraits. You will still see a lot of the old ones because there are many factions who still have it, and the Romans have at least still half of the old ones, but the celts, Greeks and Carthaginians had a full replacement with awesome portraits, the Iberians and Numidians had most of the portraits replaced, and it looks great.

By the way, one of the artists of which work I will use (and he gave me permission to do that) is JFoliveras. He is really good, check his page on DeviantArt, his last portrait of a Carthaginian will be in the game as Hasdrubal Barca https://www.deviantart.com/jfoliveras

I have finished making my UI Portrait Submod which was intended for RTW but i figured they can be put to use in EBII as well. These are all taken from illustrations and artwork for other Hellenistic period strategy games, some are also edits of Leonis portraits from his submod for RSII.

I added cooler backgrounds for all of the portraits , many of the Greek and some of the Roman and Carthaginian portraits have a Greek city in the background. Some of the Eastern portraits also have Babylonian architecture as a background.

Im making another version of this UIsubmod which will be entirely photorealistic, i have made many portraits for the Greeks where i used modern Greek athletes and added Greek style armor or cloaks to them. Im also doing the same with the Carthaginians, using a Lebanese basketball team for some generals, (Carthaginian ancestors came from the area of Lebanon). Will probably look for some north Africans or other Levantine peoples for Punic portraits.

Ive added download links for the UI Submod, which was too large as a whole to upload so i had to divide them based on culture. I worked for several weeks on these portraits and i consider these the best portraits i have made. I hope you guys enjoy them!

I think I've seen Purefoy (Mark Antony) before although I don't think I've seen Ciaran Hinds who played Caesar in HBO's Rome. I've definitely seen actors from various other TV shows and films, though, such as Troy and Alexander. I've had multiple generals with portraits of Jared Leto and Colin Farrell.

Yes, his artwork is very good, I definitely used a few heads from his artworks in my own portraits submod.

Very cool, but do you think you could give us a preview of how they look? Maybe upload a few images to Tumblr or Imgur?

Your work is very good indeed, for now I only saw the Carthaginian one and seems quite good, I have almost all of the portraits that you have there but I would like to add around 8 of them and I haven't yet seen the portraits for the other factions x)

One thing that I really like is that you added nice backgrounds to the faces, which improves a lot the feeling. Sadly I don't have time to search on my portraits for the same faces and replace them with yours.
