Default Is it possible to 3D print Total War models?

Hello there, first of all I am not sure if this post should be here, but I am unsure where to post it. I collect miniatures for wargaming, and I've been thinking how cool it would be to actually 3d print Total War models, be it from the older versions or from more recent ones, whatever would work best.

Does somebody know if it would be easily feasible? I know you need .stl or .obj files to print, and that they would have to be converted. I suppose, more complicated, they would have to be posed, loading the skeleton. Has anybody tried something like this?

I've got no idea how 3D modelling or printing works, but I assume you'd use this tool to export the models from the later games such as Rome 2, Attila, Thrones of Britannia and maybe Warhammer and 3 Kingdoms:

I've got no idea how you'd then turn the files into 3D printing-friendly files though.

All model formats can be converted to OBJ format, it's just a matter of finding a converter to get them back to a more conventional format.

I think you can use Paint.NET for that and I know Paint.NET can open/convert a .dds file.

I'm afraid I can't be of any help (knowing nothing of 3D-printing), but, if you do manage to print any of the models, please do post pictures. It'd be cool to see what they come out like.
