Oh okay. Here's another bug, maybe it's cause by the missions, but as Liu Bei, early in game while traveling to Jing Province, I try to bride the character Hu Ban, but he instantly died when he joined my faction... O_O
I’ve never seen that before, so I’m not sure. Sometimes reloading save games can cause adoptions to not go through, so perhaps this is similar to that?

Is this with modified files?

It is, but I don't recall having ever change anything that concerns the unaligned faction or its character, except this :
Could the faction I doubled a character, Sima Hui, cause them to die when bribed? And anyway, it was already doing this with Liu Bei before I touch those lines.Code:character J-3002-SimaHui, named character, male, leader, age 32, x 6, y 155, portrait A125, battle_model wenrentraits JbAAAA0100 1 , Lz-3002-0 1 , Jn1000 2 , Jn2001 2 , Jn3001 2 , Jn4001 2 , Jn5001 2 , JnA1000 4 , JnA2000 4 , JnA3000 4 , JnA4000 4 , JnA5000 4 , JnA6000 4 , JnA7000 9 , JnA8000 9 , JnA9000 1 , Jnxg6000 2 , B2050JnRZ-A 3 , B2060JnAM-A 3 , B2120JnDB-A 3 , B2160JnDC-A 3 army unit JiangJun_YongLiang_Aa exp 4 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0 unit Minbin exp 2 armour 3 weapon_lvl 3 character J-3002-SimaHui, named character, male, heir, age 16, x 8, y 155, portrait A125, battle_model wenren traits JbAAAA0100 1 , Lz-3002-0 1 , Jn1000 2 , Jn2001 2 , Jn3001 2 , Jn4001 2 , Jn5001 2 , JnA1000 4 , JnA2000 4 , JnA3000 4 , JnA4000 4 , JnA5000 4 , JnA6000 4 , JnA7000 9 , JnA8000 9 , JnA9000 1 , Jnxg6000 2 , B2050JnRZ-A 3 , B2060JnAM-A 3 , B2120JnDB-A 3 , B2160JnDC-A 3 army unit JiangJun_YongLiang_Aa exp 1 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0 character J-3001-ZuoCi, named character, male, age 69, x 147, y 109, portrait A472 ;, battle_model Ls_zuoci_general - model does not exist traits ZuoCi_general 10 , JbAAAA0100 1 , Lz-3001-0 1 , Jn1000 2 , Jn2001 2 , Jn3001 2 , Jn4001 2 , Jn5001 2 , JnA1000 4 , JnA2000 4 , JnA3000 4 , JnA4000 4 , JnA5000 4 , JnA6000 4 , JnA7000 9 , JnA8000 2 , JnA9000 1 , Jnxg6000 2 , A1050JnJM-A 3 , A1070JnFS-A 3 , B2150JnJY-A 3 , B2160JnDC-A 3 ancillaries 6shu-921 army unit JiangJun_YongLiang_Aa exp 4 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0
I don’t think having the same character listed twice is a good idea, as it could have some unforeseen problems. But I don’t think it is the cause for the death issue, although it could be. Not really sure. I’ve never had this issue before, with any faction or character, so I couldn’t say why it is happening. If I had to take a guess, it could be because of the bodyguard unit not transferring over when bribed and, since the character is required to have a bodyguard unit to exist, it kills the character. I know you have modified bodyguards for your submod, so that would be the best place to start looking.

Oh God. I hope it is not that... I'll bring back the vanilla lines for the unaligned character to check if it changes anything. But here's another thing, that might confirm what you just said : When I started a campaign with Liu Xie (the Han emperor), 90% of my general dies instantly when the campaign starts... but most still have their model on the campaign map.

EDIT : What could explain that the bodyguard unit doesn't transfer to my side when I bribe the character? I just hope that I won't need to put again the general_unit attribute, because it will decrease the number of men drastically (especially for the infantry general). I guess if there's no workaround, I'll have to remove all infantry buqu.
I would put money on the lack of the general_unit attribute.
Keep in mind that, when a character transfers from one faction to another (ie: bribe Unaligned character to join the Sun Clan), that character will use the default bodyguard unit (first bodyguard unit for that faction listed in EDU) of their new faction. The exception is if the new faction has ownership of the original bodyguard unit (as defined by EDU) of the character being bribed, in which case the character will keep whatever bodyguard unit they have. So if there isn’t a default (or any) bodyguard unit defined for a faction (by using general_unit attribute), the character will not get a bodyguard unit and they will die.

Quick Question:
I was testing out Jiaozhou and noticed that Hepu and Longbian home starting regions begin with -100% religion. Theses regions are set to Han Revival and Nanhai (And one other I forget the name) has dominate isolation, which gives the region a positive number.
If this is correct, I would think the -100% would be foreign culture.
I can’t check the faction’s religion, as I’m not at home to check the files, but that is obviously an error. I’ll get it fixed for 4.0.

Not sure if this is a bug, but I noticed that officers like Xu Shu, Zhuge Liang, Pang Tong, Sima Hui, and Zuo Ci are listed in the unaligned faction list in the descr_strat.
Yet, when I have played through campaigns, I did not see them anywhere.
I was wondering if this was intentional?
The last two are meant to keep the faction alive and are not attainable. The first three can be bribed, like all other Unaligned characters, but are hidden. You’ll have to search forested areas in northern Jing province to find them.
