Good for them, the release is a reverse Rome 2, lukewarm promotion, mild hype at best, delay after delays with bad preview footage, yet they delivered a polished product at release.
How many copies out of that million were from the Chinese, Korean, Japanese and East Asian markets?

Well Deserved! Good on ya CA!
Shrewd move on C.A.'s part, I imagine this game was aimed at the Asian/Chinese market....accolades to C.A. and all that.
"No problem can withstand the assault of sustained Dufferism"
Well, we can start thinking about future. Rome 2 was the last trully succesful historical title. Attila+ToB are mostly flops. Wh(s) and 3K are massive hit. Will be interesting seeing next title after WH3....
Victorian, boxer rebellion?

I have them all and I consider Attile and ToB to be both massively undervalued by players. I love Attila and ToB is also quite good, both games have their own problems but that is similar for any TW. So you are disagreeing with what exactly? I was speaking merely about selling numbers. R2/Whs/3K/Empire are massive hits in sales while Attila/ToB are not. :-)
Yeah, I personally like both Attila and ThrOB, but they didn't do particularly well.
Looking at the mechanics of Three Kingdoms, things like having sub-generals, and the larger focus on characters, and the improved diplomacy, I can see it going in two direction. Medieval 3 seems like the obvious choice, with better feudal system, and more interesting vassals, and things like that.
But on the other hand, I think a Victorian Total War might work just as well. Being able to have a large army with brigadier-generals, enhanced diplomacy, a bigger focus on trade and colonization, and a modular structure the same way that Warhammer's Mortal Empires campaign works, where each new game in the Victorian series comes out as it's own independent campaign (European theater, the Scramble for Africa, Colonial India, the American Civil War, etc.) but then they all combine their maps to form one mega, global campaign.
"Rajadharma! The Duty of Kings. Know you: Kingship is a Trust. The King is the most exalted and conscientious servant of the people."
18th Century to late 19th Century Empire, Napoleon, Victorian campaigns with todays mechanics would be epic! imagine all of the DLC's spanning those eras?

I personally don't think they will touch Medieval 3 until they do another Empire TW style game.
Ja mata, TosaInu. Forever remembered.
