Thread: CTD after campaign finishes loading

Default CTD after campaign finishes loading

I attempted to add some new regions and got the error. I removed the regions and the error persisted. The error occurs when the campaign finishes loaded no matter which factions is chosen, though not when a campaign is loaded. The log does not give an error. Can someone tell me what the error is or what type of error it is.

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Please describe how you proceeded to add the region, there are multiple steps where a fatal mistake can be made.

I added the regions using notepad. I believe it is regions however I have been unable to find the type of bug(on the CTD page) that causes a crash after the campaign(starting a new, it works when playing a saved campaign) has fully loaded then immediately CTDs with an unspecified error. Sorry if I'm missing something very obvious.

My bad, I meant what all did you edit, file wise. Using or referencing a wrong RGB value in descr_region will lead to a crash for example. A wrong RGB value for th esettlement pixel will lead to a crash. And that's just the graphic side of it. A save game will ignore a great number of changes, foremost descr_strat edits. If you haven't deleted map.rwm then any new entry in descr_region can lead to a crash. The possibilities of a crash a rather ample.

Have look at the relevant part in my tutorial on how to set up a region. Some in depth info can be found here.

I think I added the regions correctly or more or less that I can't find any bugs. I haven't been able to find the type of bug on the CTD help page. What type of thing causes this bug?

    Let's start from the beginning:

    1. Have you set up a separate folder in which you are modding?
    2. Have you made copies of the files before editing them?
    3. Have you unpacked the game?

I've set up a different folder and unpacked the game and I think have backups though they are old.

If you have unpacked the game then delete the two geography files in the data folder, they will cause a crash in battle.

The crash just when the loading bar is full will be a result of a faulty edit of the map files. If it is a problem in desc_strat then you would get back to the menu instead of the desktop so lets start with the other files.

    1. Have you deleted the map.rwm file?
    2. Did a new map.rwm generate after the next start?
    3. Did you create a new region in map_regions?
    4. Which editor did you use to work on map_regions?

If a new map was generated then the problem might lie in the connected text files.

Did you edit the map_features file?
Does your region have a port pixel in map_regions?

Please copy your entries for your new region from descr_regions as well as descr_strat here. The same for it's entry in imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.
