Default Planning a trip to Russia

Hey guys, I could use some advice from anyone from Russia or who's been to Russia before. Me and a few of my friends are going on a completely regular and ordinary roadtrip to Russia on the 22nd of June and we were hoping to get some pointers on places to go and places to avoid. We're planning on making it a really quick trip since we'd also like to have time to make it back to Western Europe to meet up with some friends from America. We're planning on hitting all the stops on the way to Moscow; Minsk, Smolensk, Stalingrad, and Kiev; as well as Airports, Train Stations and other pointers of interest (What are your favorites? And where are they?) We're planning on travelling fast and light so we're not planning on needing to much cold weather clothing (We plan to get to Moscow before winter.).

If it helps there's about 4,000,000 of us and we're traveling from near Berlin.

    Thanks again guys!

My advice would be to leave moscow alone and go directly to the Caucasus... I`ve heard there is some good stuff around Baku.
Some of your friends may sit around St. Petersburg doing nothing. They shouldn`t stop there, this City is worth a visit.

Have you consulted your Japanes Friends about your travelplans?

@Flinn: It won`t be cold, the coldest will be around 5 Celsius. Ich Schwör
But if Italians take part, make sure they bring their Horses.

Maybe OP should ask some French or Swedes about his travelplans?

Noted. If it were up to me the entire Italian peninsula would have been separated from the rest of Europe a long time ago and set adrift somewhere near Greece or Mallorca.

I'm not gonna lie, Mallorca is probably going to be completely submerged or at least riddled with tsunamis when Italy gets moved into the mid-Mediterranean (Miditerranean?). However I'm also not going to lie and say that I don't consider that to be a completely acceptable loss if not a victory in and of itself. The Spaniards have rested on their laurels long enough. Maybe when Italy is in the Miditerranean they can re-elect Berlusconi and do an Italian-Brexit (or what ever the portmanteau of Italian and Exit the media chooses).

This entire topic has become decidedly anti-Italian and that wasn't my intent. Although once again I'm not going to lie and say that I'm not pleased about that.

Hi, me and my friends are NOT planning an invasion. Please delete this post as we are NOT planning an invasions and we wouldn't want to give Russia the impression we are invading since we are NOT invading. If you have any more advice NOT related to invasions please let me know.

    Thanks

    P.s we are NOT invading

See? This is what I hate about Australians. Can't 4.000.000 Germans have a chill trip to Moscow without it being a war? So racist.

Akar, I don't think you'd enjoy Moscow btw. It's too big. The countryside is nice, but after that you should turn south. The food scene isn't so great in Le... St. Petersburg either, but the countryside is dope. But generally speaking, a trip to Russia can be kinda rough. You should visit such cultural landmarks as Vienna and Paris first. Much better food. Then if you still feel like continuing your trip, Russia is definitely the way to go.

I appreciate the advice but I'm very confused about all these references to "St. Petersburg" that I'm seeing here. I'm not entirely sure where or what that is so if anyone could fill me in thank you.

Ah so we're all of the opinion that during 1939-1945, the German people were merely touring Europe?

I know that Hitler probably had that photo taken with the same mindset as a hunter who takes a photo with their kill, but I like to think that he was actually very giddy to get a chance to see the Eiffel tower in person and wanted his photo taken in front of it as a memory.

FYI Stalingrad definitely isn't on the way to Moscow. I'd recommend skipping it altogether.

And this reminds me of the sort of thread Heinz would make, although he would probably have managed to make it a lot funnier somehow.

"For what it’s worth: it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."

This post is not intended as a joke so I'm sure anyone who wanted to make it funnier would be able to. Me and my friends are simply asking for advice for a trip and I don't appreciate the rude and unwarranted comment.

That being said your advice regarding Stalingrad has been noted, we may simply have to miss out on visiting it this time.

Definitely avoid Moscow. It's a complete tourist trap.
