I agree, this is well done, I enjoyed reading the rise of Sir Farwil Indarys.

    The False Emperor

When Emperor Uriel Septim VII and all Septim heirs were assassinated by the Mythic Dawn and Mehrunes Dagon unleashed his daedra minions all over Tamriel, the Empire was headless. High Chancellor Ocato and the Elder Council temporally took over the administration, until a new Emperor was crowned.
Cyrod nobles from Nibenay, Colovia and every corner of the Empire were eying the Ruby Throne. Despite the ongoing invasion from Oblivion, background machinations were taking place at the fullest. Without a Septim heir for the first time after four and a half centuries, anyone could have a claim on the throne. The Empire was craving for a hero, and among that chaos, it was Dorald Jarol who grabbed the opportunity.
With Prince Geldall dead, he usurped the glory of the Black Marsh campaign. The only campaign at the time that was a complete victory for the Empire. He was always close to the action, but never really a part of it. But unlike Ocato or Sir Farwill Indaris, he was the only human. And only a human could be accepted as the new Emperor.
So, he became Dorald Jarol, Prince Geldall’s favourite companion, commander of the 3rd Legion, hero of the battle of Fort Blueblood, conqueror of Argonia and Morrowind. It was him who brought the first victory to the Empire against the Hist-crazed An-Xileel, standing his ground on top of the hill outside Fort Blueblood. It was him who warned Prince Geldall on time of the imminent Argonian ambush at Gideon. Not only he saved the prince’s life, but he was the cause of the crushing Argonian defeat. He courageously marched through the mud and swamps into the Black Marsh heartland, capturing argonian cities and castles one after another. When the living gods of Morrowind declared war on the Empire, he was the one who sailed with his legionnaires from Black Marsh and drove the Telvanni mages out of Morrowind’s mainland, by capturing their last foothold at the town of Praloris, better known as Dragon Glade.
That’s where he was stationed, when the Emperor was assassinated and the barriers between Mundus and Oblivion were removed. Unfortunately for him, a Gate appeared outside Dragon Glade and overwhelming Daedra forces stormed the town. Unable to win the battle, in his first and last act of heroism, he sneaked his way into the Oblivion Gate and managed to shut it down, sacrificing himself in the process. Cut off from reinforcements, the few legionnaires fended off the Daedra, who scattered in the region. His body was later discovered next to a mysteriously appeared barking dog. He had a hero's funeral, for he was after all, the real hero of Dragon Glade.
Had he survived, everything was in place for him to become the new Emperor. The Sunguard rebellion in Skyrim was just over, and Skyrim was still healing from its wounds. The civil war in Hammerfell between the Forebears and the Crowns was still raging, and of course High Rock was constantly in a state of war between the various kingdoms. The legions in Vanderfell were fending off Dagoth’s creatures wave after wave, while Cyrodiil was the epicenter of Mehrunes Dagon’s invasion. Dorald Jarol would easily walk into the White-Gold Tower of Imperial City with his full 3rd Legion and everyone would be forced to submit to his rule, unable to give him any resistance.
Some say that Dorald Jarol had accepted a deal with Clavicus Vile, the Prince of deals, pacts and power. It is said that during the Oblivion Crisis, Dorald Jarol was Clavicus Vile’s pawn in his attempt to gain power and influence over the mortal world. Betting on Mehrunes Dagon’s defeat, Clavicus Vile would help Dorald Jarol become the new Emperor, as part of a deal that would eventually backfire in the Prince’s favor, as it always happens. The Oblivion Gate in Praloris was the last needed accomplishment for Dorald Jarol to gain enough fame and power for his challenge to the Throne to be undisputedly accepted. Maybe the Daedric Prince himself convinced Dagon to choose that location for the Gate. What happened inside that Gate, we don’t know. Some say that Dorald Jarol regretted his part and chose a true hero’s death sacrificing himself to close the gate, others believe that he simply failed.

I like the twist in the tale that there was someone associated with pacts and power behind Dorland Jarol's rise to power, and yet Dorald still had the capacity for a heroic act.
