It isn't just Rotherham. It's many larger English towns and cities, from as early as the 1970s, systematically ignored by the police, social services and local authorities. The same patterns have been uncovered in Rochdale, Telford, Huddersfield, Oxford, the list goes on.

It seems that if governments engage in activities like this, it is time to stop viewing them as legitimate governments. People under such governments should view that as being under occupation and act accordingly.

She should have just kept her mouth shut for the sake of diversity (according to Labour MP Naz Shah).

    Right guize?
Owen Jones wrote that, Shah retweeted it. She got spanked for it. Another person who considers rape amusing is one Carl Benjamin, who for some reason is defended on so-called free-speech grounds. Milkshakes all round.

The Dutch Migration Minister involved resigned two days ago. According to DutchNews.nl:

    https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2019/0...-crime-report/
Last week’s report showed ‘fake’ asylum seekers who come from so-called safe countries, namely Morocco and Algeria, were responsible for almost half the 4,600 incidents requiring police intervention. While most cases involved shoplifting or pickpocketing, police also registered cases of physical abuse, threatening behaviour and a further 1,000 incidents listed as ‘other’. The Telegraaf reported on Thursday morning this total included 79 potential sex crimes, including 47 cases of sexual assault, five allegations of child abuse and four alleged rapes plus a string of other violent offences.

Whatever the melodrama from Basil, there does seem to be a problem here and that problem is people shielding controversial information from the public.

The Prime Minister tweeted his reaction to the resignation.

Rutte tweeted saying though he "respected" Harbers' decision to quit, it was "incredibly regrettable that the cabinet must say goodbye to such a talented and committed liberal."

I presume Holland has a Freedom of Information Commissioner, or the equivalent. If there is a problem, one could write a letter, sorted, job done , the only obstacles are lawful exemptions.

How the OP extrapolates this straightforward clerical procedure as impacting to a liberal government (it's conservative) and being relevant to other so-called liberal governments (certainly the US and UK and many EU countries don't have them) is laughable.

"Police were called for .... 31 cases of murder or manslaughter."

Interesting choice of words. You wouldn't guess from that that in reality there was one fatality, which was the result of what judges later ruled to be justifiable self-defense. Oh well, it's the Telegraaf...what can one expect.

So the Telegraaf is not telling the truth about figures it claims are untrue?. Such is spam.

The Swedes also have been covering up stats for years. Even their police are complaining about it.

    Isn't XYZ a conservative government.
No party west of the Slavic states is conservative, least of all those that claim to be.

They would not be so careless as to openly lie, but they don't shy from being selective with the truth to the point of deception, as in this case. While the Telegraaf does not openly align itself with any political party, they do have a rather outspoken political agenda of their own on certain topics. For instance, any politician proposing measures resulting in car ownership/driving becoming more expensive better tread carefully.

For what you and I would probably call 'quality journalism' (if only for being nuanced) in the Netherlands I'd suggest NRC, Trouw and, perhaps, Volkskrant for current affairs (though their opinion pieces, of which there are too many, are often cringe-worthy)

Hey, in Italy we are trying really really hard. Our model is Orban.

Baudet in the Netherlands is pretty neat as well, but he has a long way to go to reach government.

Trust me, the last thing you want to do, ever, is bringing up the United States as comparison when it comes to incarceration rates. Someone else did it in another thread and it turned out into a pathetic debacle. Let's stick to the Netherlands.

Judging from the stats, there isn't much to discuss.

It's always good to be tough on criminals. White liberals living in lily-white, crime-free neighborhoods don't understand this, but it's one of those life lessons that people learn either the easy way or the hard way. A low incarceration rate can only be justified by a high execution rate.
