Icon8 Trouble with Optane interface / SATA SSD

Anyone noticed weird performance issue with B250 chip / Optane capable + SATA SSD?

I bought that SSD when I was on Windows 8.1, with MSI B250M motherboard. Everything was perfect, with the usual speed 300-400MB/s

Then I installed latest Ubuntu 18.04, performance went to garbage grade - for SATA SSD only. M2 is not affected at all. It's barely 30-40MB/s and at that rate the system almost freezes as new disk I/O operations are blocked.

Then Windows 10 and Server 2019. Same problem.

Then a BIOS upgrade and change of interface in BIOS from AHCI to Optane. Speed problem is now solved, but I/O blocking problem remains. When I copy file at 30-40MB/s the entire Windows is slowed down (usable, at least new apps can open).

I Haven't seen anything similar to be honest, but I'll take a look later today.

I wonder if your security software may be playing a role here?

Perhaps you need to update the SATA SSD driver for the Ubuntu version.

Well, I haven't found any similar reports. My guess is that something is probably ''baked'' in your SSD's firmware after the update.

The name is AGI Agility. I cannot find the official website let alone any driver or firmware info. It's sold in a big chain store. Will not buy from there again.

Well, that's unfortunate. Especially if it's not under warranty. I would suggest a more trustworthy unit next time.

Looks japanese / Asian to me @AqD

Never heard of them, only OCZ (which also makes an agility ssd it seems).
