    do you maybe have access to another pc, where you can test if it works there?
    I know it may sound far fetched, but i had once a similar problem between my desktop and my laptop with TVB.

    I finally manged to download your mod and now this

    getting a medieval II encountered an unspecified error message when trying to launch the game
    launching als administrator led to the cannot find medieval2.exe error

    is this the log you need/want?

    oh noes

    but thats the wrong log

    look where the medieval2 exe is located, the you will find the right log and post the last few lines, we will see if there is a solution.
    At this point I suspect that there is a problem with the bat file working for the cd version. I suspect you are using the cd version?

    Open up the provided bat with a editor notepad or something like this
    delete everything in there and put this in instead:

    cd ..\..
    kingdoms.exe @mods\banana\medieval2.bananas.cfg

    then try if it starts, otherwise post the log i mentioned above

    The data folder itself, and not sure if it's mentioned but maybe set those files to 'read only' as well?

    Yeah, I would need the trace. As the normal log indicates no error.
    But I have the feeling that it will stop again at the derscr_names.txt.

    Maybe the read only thing helps, let me know if that worked.

    ok, next try would ne, delete the names.txt.strings.bin in the txt folder to let the game built it up again.
    and could you send me your descr_names.txt so i can have a look at it

    I will have a look and see if I can find the issue that plagues some people here.

    Meanwhile you could try a clean Medieval 2 install, maybe that works.
    Or hopp over to Total Vanilla Beyond 3.3.3 if you manage to download it and have some fun there

    OK, it is a shot in the dark.
    I removed the entries for normans and saxons, maybe that was the issue
    take this and replace the old file

    @Atthias, since you last installed a clean copy of Medieval 2 (disc or steam?) have you added or removed any mods? Some mods alter the files in the base game and make other mods unplayable sadly

    shall I try verifying MTW2 files although I doubt it will do much sine it is a clean one aside from my own modifications
