Im almost done with my mod and I realised that I have no idea how to make an installer or even where to start, so any help would be much appreciated

I'm a big fan of archives (zip, rar, 7z) over installers for a few reasons:

1) Sometimes you just want to have a look at the files, or grab just one or two of them, without installing the whole thing somewhere.

2) Installers might be doing things I don't want it to do. Deleting files, renaming folders, etc. Not only do I not have control over what they do, I have no way of knowing what they're going to do.

3) Every install is one more thing clogging up my "Installed Applications" list, for no purpose really when it's just a file unpacking operation.

4) Platform agnostic. Windows, Linux and Mac all know how to unpack an archive. Linux and Mac can't run an installer exe written for Windows, not directly. So you really should be making three installers, if any.
