Default Creating a World - Black Settlement Fix for Steam

Following a recent discussion herewith now a summary and the necessary files to fix the issue.

Note: this issue is only applicable to the Steam version of the game!

Underneath a look at the problem (pics by 4zumi):

    Spoiler for black settlements

Red brick castle from the Teutonic campaign

    Native American Tipis

The only way to solve this is to add the settlement folder from the disk version. The installer will provide a BAT\CFG file combo and a desktop shortcut with which to start\run the relevant campaign after the files have been installed.

    Installation
Simply run the installers and follow the instructions displayed - it should be a simple click through affair.

Hmm, it's worth a try. Here you go.

7-Zip will probably be required if you don't have it already.

EDIT: As it turns out, the mighty Gig has already provided a fix for this. As such, threads merged.

Following this discussion, I have moved this thread from the Workshop > Skins, Models and Animations, to here in Tech Support, and am sticky-ing it.

    A couple of questions :

    1) I presume this overwrites the base game folders. So every time one verifies the game files they'll be returned to the buggy versions ?

    2) Can we run the installers on our mod folders. My mod uses perm stone forts so it'll need this to be installed by default, but not everyone will come here to find the fix ?

The installer(s) actually creates a mod set up from the DLC campaigns, no original files will be overwritten - unless you have unpacked them.
The installer will provide a BAT\CFG file combo and a desktop shortcut with which to start\run the relevant campaign after the files have been installed.

    Thx for that.

Checking the files on my mod it has some of the same files as the fix.
So I presume my mod will supercede the fix files.

Playing the mod (over 200 turns) and fighting numerous fort battles the only one I noticed with the shadows was a ME fort, so I'm not sure if I need to replace all the files in the mod with the fix files.

Is there any reason the spanish and danish boats are included ?

No particular reason that I can recall - I must have forgotten to take them out of the folder.

    OK

I've tested this with my mod and it seems to run OK if I do the fix on the vanilla folders, but I'll have to see if any of my files overwrite any of the fix files.
