Interesting article.
Very interesting interview, indeed. Something to shed some light on this still very much understudied area of modding of startpos editing.
One of the things that intrigued me most was this note by GS in which he says that through editing the startpos one can convert a minor settlement to a major settlements.
What exactly does that mean? That each settlement can be made a major settlement? Or that there is only one settlement within each province that can be a major settlement, but one can actually modify which settlement that is?
I wonder also if there is a way of changing the province compositions with regard to regions they consist of via startpos editing. Does anybody know?
I'd like to add that Dresden and the team at DeI have had such a significant impact on the overhaul of the game that their continued development has definitely warranted a Patreon subscription. I hope they keep it up well into the future.
Well done and informative. If only game companies like CA had people with Dresden's attitude in charge...
Great interview. Thank you for an interesting conversation and wonderful mods.
Always interesting to get a modder's insight. Thank you! I also love the 'Q' used for the questions, it looks great
Awesome!
Nice interview. I hope CA knows that some people (for example me) only buy TW games because modding is possible and modders like Dresden and so many other gifted people are active.
However, some burning questions remain, f.e. is Dresden's avatar a lifelike depiction (I think so)? What is his favorite drink? Or, what are his thoughts about global peace? Will he waste time with modding Three Kingdoms?
@All
Thank you, guys. I'm glad you liked our interview

Yes, only one settlement could be major, but you can modify which will be major or minor.
As for the composition of the province, as long as it won't need map tools (which we don't have) it's usually doable via startpos editing. If you need more specific info about the provinces' tweaks, you could always ask Dresden the startpos Pro
Great interview GS! Superb!
Thank you, OD
It was really a pleasure interviewing Dresden. He's such an easy going and cooperative person, so everything came up smoothly. I'm glad you like it!
Informative interview, the community is lucky to have you Dresden (and GS somewhat).
Good stuff, I didn't realize how annoying editing startpos was back in the day and it makes me even more grateful of the work that was done during those dark times.
@Dardo Thank you for the kind words buddy
@BroskiDerpman
Still is, for a single nation edit (unplayable to playable nation for example) you'll need to rebuild the entire startpos file. Which is extremely time-consuming.
