    Icon3 Tribes Of Britannia


    Summary
    Work has begin on an iron age conversion mod for the Thrones of Britannia game. This would replace all in game factions with historically (as close to) accurate tribes and to completely overhaul factions, unit rosters and game balancing. i am not expecting this to be rushed and will personally be working on this in my spare time and will welcome others on board where needed if this interests anybody.

    Setting
    The settings for this mod would be set around 54BC and during the roman invasion of Britain, this will see the many tribes of Britain in full swing and with their own internal struggles and feuds intact. I would also like to base these rivalries on historical records to as close as possible. The Romans would be introduced similar to how the vikings would be spotted off the coast of Britain and the people have to prepare.

    the plan is to turn the viking sea factions who spawn later in game into a roman faction so i dont think it would be too easy to make them playable but possibly if i can change the spawn time and make them present at the very beginning of the campaign i dont see why not. failing that i can always just provide a roman faction with a small piece of land on the coast like a landing zone of sorts

    I am looking for a challenge so i will be taking my time with this. for example i am currently only working on the faction placements images below. and then over time i will work on the smaller detail and units and such.

    I like this idea, perhaps they could have a small territory in Kent or something?

    Might I suggest that you contact some of the guys at Divide et Impera (Rome II) and Ancient Empires (Attila) to see if you can borrow some of their assets. They've done an incredible job with authentic unit models.

    Yes i have been looking into this faction to begin with. i am going to be giving them a tiny village in kent to be seen as a landing zone of sorts.

    Yes the units from those mods do look incredible but i am not sure if they would want to let me use them. cant hurt to ask i guess

    Quick Update from ModDB

    Mod Development 08/03/2019

    Hi All,

    This week has seen the mod being posted onto the TW Centers homepage as an announcement so a big thank you to the staff for that one. This mod is currently a hobby project of mine and i am learning as i go along. this week has seen me begin work on the roman faction, i have since learnt how to import the units from Rome II over to TOB and have been able able to model them to the Norman units. the Norman roster is only used for one factions so this will be my target for conversion when it comes to getting rome into the game.

    Here are some screenshots, some slight issues with a couple of missing textures but that is nothing i cant fix.



    Some colour issues are needing to be made as well but i feel this is some good progress on getting the roman invasion faction into the game. A quick note this faction is playable to the player.

    Good Luck with your project, perhaps you could import the Testudo Animation from Rome II, as from the screenshot it seems that they use the shield screen animation

    I second this. Those two teams have done a lot of work and research. Definitely worth asking the authors of those mods. Mods are often a patchwork of smaller works sewn into one.

    OwenSnelly, best of luck! This is a very ambitious project and I hope to see it come to fruition. Would love to see this vision fully realized. Very cool concept. You an do something special here.

    Yeah i did plan to import this actually, just using the shieldwall one already in game as a bit of a preview!
