What is your favorite historical time period, I'm not talking about just the place, but rather the time.
I think my favorite time period is the Ancient time period, more specifically, the time of the Roman Empire.

Ancient period definitely.
Well, I can agree with that.

Definately Ancient Period. It's what brought me to TWC in the first place (heard about RTW).
Specifically, I love military history. Thermopylae and Cannae are my favorites, but there are many more.
The ancient period (Greco-Roman history) just seems like a time when individuals could rise to greatness - Vespasian was a good success story, but there are many others. There was a lot of freedom and the world wasn't marred by society.

I also like the way warfare was fought in the Ancient period, in modern times, I think that war is harder to fight, because each country is capable of tanks, planes, artillery, and some even have nukes.
The Ancient period was a simpler time for warfare.
Medieval, but that includes much of the late 'Dark Ages'.

Very tough. Dead split between Dark and Medeival. However, I consider Dark to Overlap into Medieval, so I vote Medieval.
I just thought that the times of 300 AD. to 1080 AD. were the Dark Ages. I suppose another way to look at the Dark Ages is "Early Medieval Period".
I'll say colonial period. Ancient times surely are interesting, but I think I've had an overdose now. :p Since the release of Europa Universalis III is closing, I've become more an more fascinated by the early modern times. Clash of cultures and especially warfare and imperialism at that time are interesting.
I think I need to read some good books about this period, any suggestions? =)

How absurd men are! They never use the liberties they have, they demand those they do not have. They have freedom of thought, they demand freedom of speech.

Yeah, the Colonial Period is interesting, it was also a golden age for piracy.
Definatly the ancient agesSo many great people and fantastic empires and cultures.
Okay, right now the Ancient and Medieval periods are tied, with the Colonial period getting a large following as well
Edit: It seems Ancient period broke that tie, and has an extra point!

my timeperiod is actually 1470's so late medieval time.
Dark ages because of all the radical changes that took place during it, such as Justinian's conquests, the rise of Islam and the Frankish empire.
Of course ill pick the Ancient times.
Modern era of course

Medieval is my favorite time period by far. Gotta love the Mongolians.
Ancient times, philosophers, greece waaay ahead of their time.
I find it sad that christianity destroyed both of this in the late ancient time![]()
You have a certain mentality, a "you vs them" and i know it is hard to see, but it is only your imagination which makes up enemies everywhere. I haven't professed anything but being neutral so why Do you feel the need to defend yourself from me?. Truly What are you defending? when there is nobody attacking?
I say medieval i grew up with it although my interest has spread to the dark ages and the ancients times of antiquity, you just can beat the image of the gallant knight in shining armour, hence why I reenact the time period
