Thread: On the Royal Doorstep

    Default On the Royal Doorstep

Rosby lay only a few leagues from the capital, the castle sequestered safely in the shadow of royal power. In any ordinary conflict, there would be no force of arms that could subvert Rosby without awakening the ire of the host gathered at King's Landing. But this was a war decided by dragons. No castle, not even Black Harren's fortress, could withstand the devastating effect of dragonfire, death borne on wings from above. So, one morning, the bleak winter sun would be blotted out by two crimson shadows hovering above, descending towards the courtyard. It was Caraxes, the Blood Wyrm, and Meleys, the Red Queen, two of the mightiest Targaryen dragons that were second only in wroth to Vhagar himself.

"Men of Rosby! Strike your banners, or die a traitor's death!"

Shouted none other than Daemon Targaryen, dragon hovering just high enough to be heard. It was just as the scouts said - the castle was protected only by a token garrison, with most of the men having left to join the massing host in King's Landing.

Rolled with a 19/20 chance of the castle's garrison resisting.
    - modifiers for the presence of dragons and a large host.

Due to the presence of Dragons and a large host nearby, Rosby's gates are opened by the garrison commander.

"See, not so hard. A shame, I would have liked to see this fool's fortress burn."

Daemon grinned at his cousin, and landed Caraxes within the courtyard. Swiftly he dismounted, sliding off the Blood Wyrm's back onto the cold hard cobbles.

"Listen closely, if you want to live."

The Prince announced, drawing Dark Sister from his scabbard and pointing it at the keep.

"You men will empty Lord Rosby's treasury. Everything you can carry, and bring it to Duskendale."

    Lowering the blade, he continued.

"Oh, and bring me Lord Rosby's family. If they resist, the whole keep burns. The same will happen if any raven or rider is sent to the false King."

The garrison commander and his soldiers nod rather quickly in order to get out of the presence of the dragons. They didn't want to be near the winged firebreathers, dashing off to perform their tasks. A small group of men, no more than ten strong, heads to the keep to secure Rosby's family as hostages (need Xion's posting for this).

The remainder of the forty men heads down into the vaults, securing the treasury. However, the garrison commander is willing to have him and his men pocket some of the money for themselves.

The Black's manage to secure 85% of the treasury (42,500 dragons), the remainder 15% mysteriously vanishes (into another's pockets)

Wagons were loaded, Rosby being emptied of coin and supplies. The Lord's family were placed on a cart of their own to Duskendale, with Daemon observing the process to ensure that it was done as swiftly as possible; the very tangible threat of dragonfire drove the garrison to work as hard as possible to please him. It took the better part of the day, but with no word being sent to the capital, the entire thing was completed unmolested. And so the Targaryens left as quickly as they had arrived, leaving Rosby penniless and the lord's family captured.

(Guess I'll just re-use this thread)

Prince Daemon sends a rider to Darry requesting the surrender of the Keep to the Queen and her forces. Failure to comply will be met with dragonfire.

Due to the massive army and dragons
    19/20 chance of sucess

    1 fail
    2-20 sucess

    roll 20

The defenders waste no time surrendering the keep. 30,000 Dragons are recovered from the treasury
