A troop of twelve riders arrive at the gates of Highgarden donning two sigils: one of House Tyrell and one of House Rowan. The sigil of House Tyrell flew above that of Rowan as an indication of respect for his Liege Lord. To the troops front sat Luthor Rowan and Peregrin Merryweather. The other ten merely knights of his brothers. Luthor was the youngest son of Lord Thaddeus Rowan's second wife and as such had no delusions of grandeur. He enjoyed his lot in life and enjoyed being with little cares. Merryweather was a cousin to Gerold Rowan's wife...maybe twice removed...that Luthor found to be good company. Traveling suited Luthor so travel he did. Often he came to Highgarden with the same guard to drink and enjoy the gardens. His guard never drank with him and so he found Peregrin to be a swell partner. He thought he might make a short stop this time but, one never knew the time table of the fickle youth.

The Rowan party would be let through the triple walls of Highgarden and after servants would take their horses to the stables, would be escorted to Lady Tyrell's solar, where the lady was looking at a painting of the Tourney of the Field of Roses while meeting with the steward of Highgarden before the servant announced ser Rowan. "Welcome to Highgarden, ser Rowan." Lucia says as she returns to her seat, gesturing for Rowan to take one of the several empty chairs in the room, then she orders the servant to bring more wine, fruits, and snacks. "How fares Goldengrove?"

Luthor Rowan gave a deep bow to the Lady and a respectful one to the Steward. He had run across Lady Tyrell maybe a handful of times but never too much interaction. Rowan stand's by a seat until Lady Tyrell sits, but in the meantime

Lady Tyrell, it is a pleasure to be received by you. Goldengrove is fruitful my Lady. It is peaceful and lovely as the dawn. Then again, almost all of the Reach is the same. So much beauty in our homes it scarce seems to amaze me. The common factor in all of the Reach of course, is the leadership and omnipresence of House Tyrell. The
Paramountcy of House Tyrell has led to a glorious golden age for our kinsman I'm sure it will be but trivialized in the annals of history. Sometimes you have to live through a thing to appreciate it and all that came before.

Luthor appreciated beauty in all of its aspects. Lady Tyrell was of beauty, the painting she was looking at was splendidly done, even the chairs were beautiful.

With news from the capital, arriving at Oldtown, Lord Ormund Hightower eventually tasked his elder cousin, Ser Hobert Hightower with visiting the court of Highgarden in order to not only talk with Lady Tyrell in personal, but as well to see after the Lord's son Garmund Hightower, squiring at Highgarden. Eventually the stout man, along with the men who accompanied him on horseback would arrive eventually at the gates of Highgarden, where he would request entrance in order to meet the head of House Tyrell, the Lord Paramounts of the Reach.

"That is pleasing to hear, ser Rowan. We should enjoy the peace as much as we can for I fear a storm is on the horizon.." Lucia pauses to take a sip of wine. "Of course, experiencing a great event in one's life provides a greater perspective on what came before and will follow..but I am sure you did not come here to discuss philosophy with me, ser."

    -------------

Ser Hightower is granted entry into Highgarden and led to the main hall where the Tyrells hold court, which is beginning to fill up with courtiers, the vassals of the high lordship of the Mander, pages, and other persons. Lady Tyrell sits on her throne, flanked by the steward of Highgarden on the left and Ser Ball on the right. As one of the heralds announces Hightower's arrival, Lucia looks up from the letter she was reading and gestures for a guard to bring Hightower before the dias. "Welcome to Highgarden, ser Hightower."

Utilizing the amenity of his cane, the old knight entered the throne room, going stoic through the hall. Despite his old age he still seemed to be fit enough to walk without any further help although only the Seven knew for how long this would remain the case. Arriving eventually in front of Lady Tyrell's throne, he bowed respectfully and indicated a kneel as he probably knew himself that his corpulent stature barely allowed him any elegant moves. Probably it was one of the reasons why one would normally meet Ser Hobert on back of a horse.
"Greetings from Oldtown, mylady Tyrell, still as beautiful as I remember her from last visits", he spoke friendly, with a fond smile on his face, "I still remember when Lord Matthos ruled the Reach and you were young. Back then I had less troubles with my spine, but good old times pass by so quickly. Say, how fares my nephew Garmund? I hope he hasn't made you any troubles so far."
To some point the knight wondered how well both of the children faired, which his Lord cousin sent for training to both Redwyne and Tyrell. Under his own tutorship the heir of Oldtown, Lyonel Hightower, had grown into a formidable boy, thus it peaked his interest what progress the other boys made.

Philosophy! By no means Lady Tyrell. I have come to appreciate the here and now. While few do, I try to appreciate enough for everyone. Would you like to share in a drink with me? If it is impertinent of me I apologize. Third sons of second wives rarely meet with anyone of importance.

Luthor chuckled a bit. He was trying to be light but felt the pressure of his father building in the back of his mind. It was a pressure he would attempt to medicate shortly.

"I see, as for sharing a drink, perhaps once the matter your lord father has sent you here to discuss with me is resolved." She then plucks several grapes from a vine on a dish and eats them.

    -----

"Your nephew is doing quite well, Ser Hightower, and no, he has not caused any problems for the court." "Unlike like the Hewett and Norcross boys." Luthor thinks as he replies to Hightower's inquiry about his nephew. Lucia nods in agreement with Hightower's remark about pleasant times quickly fading before she speaks. "So, Ser Hightower, what business was Lord Hightower sent you here with this day?" "Or is it another Hightower who has tasked you with coming here?"

My father, sent me not my Lady! I came merely to enjoy the fruits of Highgarden and her plentiful delights.

    Luthor said sincerely.

"I see. Then I would say a change of scenery is in order. We can continue our meeting later, Ser Luthor." "Yes, my lady." Ser Tyrell gets up first, bows to Lucia, and then to Rowan, before leaving the solar. "If you would follow me, ser." Lady Tyrell gets up from her seat as several servants pick up the snacks, fruits, and other items on a side table, and followed by several of her guard, Lucia leads the small procession through several hallways of Highgarden to one of the courtyard groves that overlooks part of the castle, including the enormous weirwood(s) in the godswood. "This should allow you to see the splendour of Highgarden and sample some of the upcoming harvest." Lucia gestures over to several large trees, and then over to some vines growing down from the wall. "Although if you wish for apples, I am afraid the larger variety of them are grown on the other side of the castle near the godswood."

That Weirwood is simply magnificent. Everything I see is beautiful here. That Weirwood is... well, it’s great. The sample foods before were great. I cannot believe what is before my eyes. In the dozen times I have been to Highgarden I’ve not layed eyes. Thank you Lady Tyrell.

Luthor would have bowed, but he was transfixed on the Weirwood.

    ——

Following the widespread Ravens, House Rowan of Goldengrove and House Rowan of Derring Downs arrives with standards flying and personal retinues in tow. The larger masses of said retinue were left far off as Lord’s Thaddeus and Gerold Rowan and Ser’s Robert and Mace Rowan ride with only a couple knights..

"It's actually three weirwood trees that have become so entwined they appear as a single massive one, together they probably rival some of the ones in the North in my opinion." Lucia takes a bite out of a peach a servant had handed her. "Your welcome. When one looks out over Highgarden, you can see why the Gardeners claimed the titles of Reaper of the Greatest Bounty and Steward of the Highest Gardens, although I'd say the first could apply to all the Reach as whether it be the vineyards of the Arbor to the gilded trees of Goldengrove, the bounty the Reach provides for us outshines any other region's."

    -----------
Lord Rowan and his sons are led to a courtyard of Highgarden, one on the northern side of the castle where Lady Tyrell was practicing archery with a longbow along with a few of her guards. "My lord Rowan, welcome to Highgarden." Lucia says as she hands the longbow to a servant and walks over to greet Rowan. "I presume you and your kin are here in regards to the coming storm?"

    ------
"I see, and there is no need for tax payments as I have not levied any taxation upon my vassals at this time."
Lucia pauses for a moment to think. "Only event your kin the capital may be interested in that I know of is that some longships were sighted sailing near Oakenshield." "I thought the tournament was in Longtable, not Ashford?" Luthor asks, to which Lucia shrugs. "Perhaps both houses are having one at the same time, only one I know of is the Ashford one as Lord Ashford wrote to invite me to it. so perhaps Longtable's is a smaller affair." She faintly smiles. "If they are true, I'm sure you are not the only man who would trade away things for a barrel of Arbor Gold."

Somewhat with a smile, he took notice of Luthor's words, before he continiued to adress the Lady.
"Other than to send his regards, not too much, mylady", he replied friendly, "With his thoughts more focused on Prince Daeron's training, there isn't much to discuss, as if I remember correctly the recent tax payments were already discussed on letter. I merely wished to visit Highgarden again, while in general asking if there are some interesting events within the other parts of the Reach ongoing. My kin in the capital is always interested in news, so it shouldn't surprise too much, that I get asked about marriage ties and arrangements all the time. But well, some people seem to care if there was another minor tournament at Ashford, who marries whom or if trade on the Mander goes its usual routine."
Although sugarcoated, he was speaking openly about his motives. News from Highgarden were always interesting for the Crown and Hightower trusted the Tyrells as much as they probably trusted their services. A fair exchange of informations would eventually happen.
"Overall though you can tell, that I for myself am not too much interested in any of it", Ser Hobert added jokingly, "For marriage and tournaments I'm obviously far too old and trade only interests me, if it is about wine. If people ever asked if I traded every potential match with me to a bottle of Arbor Gold, I can only state: The rumors might be true."

"That is a question I do not have an answer for at this time, my lord Rowan." She then nods in agreement with his statement. "That is very true, my lord. Rushing to declare for one side or the other would have more consequences than benefits in this situation in my opinion."

    ---------

"I suppose we shall see it comes to pass or not.."
Lucia pauses for a moment. "Or perhaps the raven delivering the letter happened to be a rather vigorous creature."

Ser Hobert chuckled, being so far glad that Lady Tyrell had indeed a sense for humor.
"Probably - even the Red Keep has probably some chicken, who took the black in order to serve within the raven roost", he commented, before getting somewhat serious again, "But aye, we shall see whether anything grave will happen or not. I assume it isn't too much of a surprise, when I state that House Hightower will aid the king, should his cousin dare to stirr trouble."

"No, it is no surprise at all that Hightower will support Aegon as he is your kinsman." Lady Tyrell pauses for a moment. "Just as I am certain at least one of my vassals will honor the oath his late grace had lords swear to defend Rhaenyra's succession should she challenge Aegon."

"Then it would be treason on Viserys and Aegon, as Rhaenyra was probably considered the heir, but obviously isn't if the testament states so", Ser Hobert replied calm, although somewhat angered that Tyrell might speak the truth regarding potential traitors, opposing the rightful king, "There will always be fools, who will break their oaths for a contender to a title - we Reachmen should know best, since the rulership of the Gardeners was always contested by other Houses. If Viserys deemed Rhaenyra unfit because of her heir's questionable bloodline, then it is reasonable for me, why he named Aegon instead. Probably they had a reason after all to banish Rhaenyra and her kin to Dragonstone, when the King insisted the children of my Queen cousin and her household to stay."
He solely shook his head, as the topic was indeed a nasty one.
"All I would advice is to either heed the King's call or to remain neutral, should a conflict arise as the majority of the realm will see it the same way for certain", he concluded, "I can live with a woman on the throne, even if this would be seen as outrageous by most lords of the realm, but what worth would the crown of the conqueror have, if it is worn by a bastard, once Rhaenyra perishes? Even when we don't consider the King's last will to crown Aegon, no one sane would want the children, anyone could have fathered, on the throne!"

"There will be treason against either claimant as regardless of who the late king's will declares his successor, the other will challenge the claim." Lucia pauses for a moment. "You mean how the various houses have contested my house being named Lord Paramount of the Mander by the Conqueror? Nobody ever challenged Gardener's reign, Hightower.and isn't Dragonstone granted to the heir to the Iron Throne, not a location to send those who are banished?"

"Your counsel is noted, ser Hightower."
Lucia takes a sip of wine, while thinking on what he had said.
    -----
As the Red Queen made her approach to Highgarden, she would fly over a party of horsemen carrying the Tyrell rose on their banners. Lucia looks up at the creature as it continues towards her seat, the Lady of Highgarden having left to inspect the fields and orchards around Highgarden, she then spurs her horse into a gallop, rushing back to Highgarden. Meanwhile at the castle, the servants and guards run around to prepare a location for the winged creature to land or to take their posts. The courtiers, retainers, and other members of the rose court however attempt to crowd the various courtyards to try and get a glimpse of the dragon.

Once the Red Queen had landed, it would be a short while before Lady Tyrell would appear, wearing riding clothes and followed by several of her knights. "Welcome to Highgarden, your highness. I apologize for the delay, but a dragon greatly outpaces a horse."

"From what I remember it was because one of the boys caused Prince Aemond to lose one of his eyes", Hightower continiued, not really seeing the point, "If Rhaenyra would be the heir, then she would have been crowned. Anything else is treason. As regarding House Tyrell though, you're right - forgive an old man who confuses things from time to time though."
Somewhat apologizing he bowed, having nontheless a bad feeling about Lady Lucia's arguments. What was she trying to imply? The claim of Aegon II was waterproof, how could there be even the discussion of contesting it?
All he thought regarding any potential supporters of the Princess annulled claim was treason and rebellion. It would be insanity!
