Richard Baratheon, LORD OF STORMS END

    Age: 35

    Temperament:
    - Reserved: This character is a stoic who generally keeps to him/herself and exercises strict control over their emotions. While this means they're not likely to make reckless moves in court or on the battlefield, they can come across as unfeeling robots to others. +1 battle rolls, -1 Charisma

    Traits:
    +3 Personal combat
    +2 Battles (+3 with temperament)
    +1 survival

    Marital status: married

    Children:

    Godric Baratheon age 7
    Lanna Baratheon age 16
    Lysa Baratheon age 15
    Margaery Baratheon age 12

    Gwyneth Baratheon age 9

As the calm before the storm, Richard always maintains his stoic composure until he is ready to unleash his storm. Though he is illiterate, he has mastered the sword and is well versed in battle strategy. He enjoys hunting, wine, and women in no particular order.

    Other Members of House Baratheon
Davos Baratheon: younger brother to Richard
William, Lancel, Michael, and Lyonel Baratheon: Sons of Davos Baratheon.

Honor as a whole may not be his greatest virtue. He is a loyal swordsman with qualities that make him a valuable asset to some and a liability to others. He is too crass for court, deemed by most as a lowly soldier and nothing more. Word in Flea Bottom has it that though he may be Kingsguard, he is far from a clean soul. He is the dagger hidden in the cloak. The necessary evil some would say. He is discrete in his dealings yet public enough to allow the chatter. He served King Viserys I to his utmost ability.

Temperament: Choleric (Ill tempered) +1 Duels -1 Battles
    +2 Personal Combat
    +2 Assassin
    +2 Survival

Son of twice-failed claimant Arnold Arryn, Ser Eldred is a Vale knight with no home. His father's actions, while in Eldric's mind not unreasonable, have left Eldric shunned at the Eyrie and many of the Vale courts. They say he has traitor's blood, they say his nobility is forsaken, they'll say anything to please the woman who now holds the Eyrie, hungry for power, gold, lands. One day, they'll kneel to a suitable Lord Arryn, one who is not weak, one who knows how to handle a blade, one who is not a woman.

    Temperament:
    - Confident: This character is very self-assured, brimming with confidence and difficult to shake even under pressure. However, taken to an extreme, they can show a suicidal disregard for their life and the lives of others, and fail to take...well, failure into account when planning. +1 battle rolls, +1 to rout rolls against this character.

Forrest Frey, also known as ‘Fool Frey’ for once asking for asking Princess Rhaenyra Targaryan’s hand in marriage, is the Head of House Frey and Lord of the Crossing. Forrest is a headstrong yet caring young man, and can be too gallant at times for his own good. A competent rider, he leads a light cavalry unit as well as having around 800 men-at-arms. Where his wife is merciless and grasping, he is firm yet of conscience. Eager to prove himself, and still sympathetic to Rhaenyra despite being a married man, there was a presence on his mind and in the Riverlands that not all was quite well.

    Biography:

arilda of Hull, so called the Mouse, was no common woman. She had once been a happy girl, living at the shipyards, surrounded by foul-mouthed sailors, extravagant merchants and lowborn fishermen, a quick, witty thing that soon earned herself a nickname. Eventually, she became a lean and nimble young woman, with brown curls and a pretty nose, small and somewhat fragile. Marilda's life was changed forever at her fifteenth name of the day, when she met her children's father. The name of such a man is unknown, and even after her belly swell and she delivered a healthy child, Marilda refused to ever confess who he was or how had she met him. A gasp could be heard the day of her firstborn's birth, for the boy was silver of hair and had liliac eyes, marking him as a dragonseed, a bastard born with the blood of Valyria. Despite the frequent pressure, the father's identity remained a secret, solely known to her and whoever had fathered the boy, Addam. Soon thereafter, a second son was born, as equally possessed of the traits traditionally associated with those of Valyrian blood, Alyn. The young girl was the paramour of a royal-blooded man, thus was plain to see, whom actually was that man was the origin of many rumours and conjectures. It was hard to ascertain, for Driftmark was seat to the dragon-blooded Velaryons and Lord Corlys usually entertained men of the royal line, from king Viserys to his brother, Lord Daemon.

No matter their parentage, Addam and Alyn grew to be two phenomenal children: witty, nimble, beautiful, able and surprisingly precocious. When their mother sold her father's small shipyard and invested her funds in a ship she called Mouse, both children were pretty involved in the bussiness, natural born sailors who climbed ropes and masts and chattered in a dozen slangs with the colorful folk of any harbor their mother's dealings were undertaken, be Pentos, White Harbor or Plankytown. Their natural affinity to sea lead to even more rumours, who were now focused to the ruling house of Driftmark, eyes directed at High Tide's noblest inhabitants. More oft than not, any rumors were silenced, and sometimes few coins were paid to avoid the story to be spread far and beyond. Moreso, Marilda was naturally entrepeneural and an able trader, but she was often suspected to have a secret parton to fund some of her most daring enterprises and projects. And, in the meanwhile, the boys became dashing young men, who were so notorious that their ancestry was hard to conceal for much longer. And history tends to be surprising. When Viserys never woke of his nap and was left to rot in his chambers, the wheels of fate were at work, and to win a war one must do whatever is necessary. A summon soon arrived to Hull, sealed with a seahorse. It was due time both brothers were introduced to the greater world and little thereafter it was revealed they were not simple bastards, but the illegetimate offspring of Laenor Velaryon, or so his father, Lord Corlys, said...

Once Daemon Targaryen's paramour, she acted as his eyes and ears within the city during his tenure as Commander of the City Watch; the nickname among the smallfolk for her was 'Lady Misery', and it was said nothing within King's Landing went on without her knowledge. Though her relationship with the Rogue Prince came to a halt once he had married, they remain friends, with Mysaria providing valuable information from the brothel she ran within the capital.

A young man from a secondary branch of House Celtigar, he grew up quickly. His father took to ale better than fatherhood and so Arthor practically raised himself. He spent plenty of time on the water, raised and trained many birds of prey, and keeps an owl as a pet. As a Celtigar he has the blood of old Valyria in his veins.

    Lady Meredyth Darklyn

    LADY MEREDYTH DARKLYN

Temperament: Idealistic - This person is a strong believer in higher ideals and the innate goodness of man. On the one hand they tend to be inspiring and uplifting figures, on the other they can be taken advantage of by those who live well beneath her expectations. (+1 Charisma, -1 rout/assassination/escape)

    Traits:

    + 15% Wealth
    +2 Survival
    +1 Charisma (+2)

The Dawn of Duskendale is the current ruling Lady of the Dun Fort and Defender of Duskendale, the young and precocious successor of her late and formidable grandmother the Lady Devorguilla, who had headed Darklyn house since the latter years of the Old King’s reign. Meredyth is the daughter of Ser Darroch Darklyn, Devorguilla’s eldest son, known in his time as Darry the Darling, and his lady wife, Ellyn Beesbury, herself a daughter of the famed Master of Coin Lord Lyman Beesbury. She was born at King’s Landing in the 111th year after Aegon’s Conquest, and she was much celebrated as the firstborn child of the heir to Duskendale, after a difficult pregnancy that had confined her mother to bed in the latter months. “The bells of Duskendale rang for a week, when the news arrived,” Maester Munciter recorded in the Dusker chronicles, “and the Great Lady was beyond herself with joy”. Meredyth had not been her first grandchild, and neither would she be the last, but the Lady Devorguilla considered her birth to her eldest son to be a good omen and a sign of the days to come.

Unfortunately, only grief followed the Great Lady’s joy, as Ellyn Beesbury soon proved herself frailer than previously thought. Meredyth’s pregnancy had taken its toll on the woman, and she soon presented difficulties conceiving and even more hardships carrying her child to term. The gods were good, however, and Meredyth was a healthy and robust child who would certainly grow into adulthood. Not all was well, though, for a delicate question of succession had emerged. By all rights, Meredyth was the second in line to Duskendale, after her own father, in spite of having an uncle and a male cousin. The situation was further complicated by the ruling of the Great Council of 101 AC, where the lords of the Seven Kingdoms had decided to prioritize the male over the female line in succession, disregarding the custom of primogeniture, although Devorguilla herself had been one of the few to speak out for the Queen-Who-Never-Was. The Great Lady herself had personal experience with a troubled succession; the daughter of Lord Petyr Darklyn and Lady Serena Manderly, her lord father had passed away when she was only three and ten, in 85 AC. Devorguilla had had to seek refuge in White Harbor alongside her mother and sisters when her uncle, Ser Erwyn, had seized the Dun Fort for himself and his sons. Although King Jaehaerys had set things right in behalf of the Scarlet Shadow Jonquil Darke, young Devorguilla had loathed watching her family tear itself apart. Her exile and the subsequent exile of her cousins, with whom she had had a good relationship, left a lasting impression on her. She was determined not to have her own grandchildren squabble on her deathbed.

As a child, however, Meredyth was aloof of her grandmother’s deep concerns. Her parents, ever faithful courtiers, divided their time between King’s Landing and Duskendale. The young girl loved King Viserys’ splendid court of mummers and musicians, but the grey and grim Dun Fort still held the ancestral appeal of home. She was a gifted child, Maester Munciter recorded in the town chronicles, and a nimble one as well, bringing much joy and laughter to the gaunt halls of the Dun Fort. She received not only the standard education expected of a highborn lady and heiress, but also the basics of swordplay, taught to her in the privacy of the Dun Fort ballroom, so that she would not make a fool of herself when the time came for her to rule and lead the Knights of Duskendale wherever they were needed. At age eleven, her grandmother decided to send her away to Butter Hall, where Meredyth spent the next two years as cupbearer to her aunt Melusine, who was Lord Butterwell’s wife. The Great Lady had had great ambitions for her only daughter, but Alicent Hightower beat her to the Queen’s crown. Embittered, Melusine was married off to Lord Butterwell, and she remained bitter since then. Having Meredyth as her ward was a consolation prize, and she taught her niece everything she knew, political and womanly. Their relationship was often tense, however, as Melusine sought to match the young girl with one of her own sons, aiming to make one of them the future Lord of Duskendale. Her insistent plots received a reprimand from her mother, and when Meredyth flowered the Lady Devorguilla recalled her to Duskendale immediately, lest she be married without her consent. Instead, she sent her granddaughter to her old friend on Driftmark. Lady Meredyth served the Queen-Who-Never-Was as a lady-in-waiting for three years, before returning to Duskendale and marrying her cousin Ser Gunthor Darklyn, in a match arranged by her grandmother. They would rule together as one and the two branches of the family would be kept united.

Young Meredyth suddenly became Lady of Duskendale in 128 AC, only a few moons after her wedding, when Lady Devorguilla was cast off the saddle by a rabid horse, broke her hip and died of an infection a fortnight later, at age fifty-six. Meredyth’s father, Ser Darroch Darklyn, Devorguilla’s eldest son, had predeceased his mother by about one year, having died before his time when he accidentally scratched himself with a poisoned arrow while hunting in the Darkwood. Her aunt Melusine and her Kingsguard uncle Steffon were the last who remained of the previous generations, and they were both far away from Duskendale. Meredyth was alone. She drew strength from her sickly mother, who still resided at the Dun Fort, and from her remaining cousins, her husband Gunthor and his younger brother Robert. Since then, she has done her best to rule Duskendale and the Darklyn domains together with her lord husband. She is a young woman who wants to believe in the chivalric tales of romance and the songs and ballads sung at court, in spite of her grandmother’s and aunt’s lessons in cynicism and ambition, and thus strives to rule her land fairly and ensure peace and plenty in the Duskendale. Her marriage has recently been blessed by the gods too, as Meredyth carries the child that will inherit her legacy and safeguard the future of House Darklyn.

    Lord Gunthor Darklyn

    LORD GUNTHOR DARKLYN

    Temperament
: Sociable - This character is an extroverted social butterfly, capable of making friends left and right. However, they have little time for "boring" matters like finances, and are more interested in buying flashy things to show off to their friends than managing their wealth (+1 Charisma, -2% income)

    Traits:

    +3 Battles
    +2 Personal Combat
    +1 Survival

Ser Gunthor Darklyn, Lord of Duskendale, is the eldest child of lady Rhea of House Rosby and Petyr Darklyn, himself a second born son to the late Lady Devorguilla of Duskendale. Indeed, at the time of his birth Gunthor was her first grandson, so named after Gunthor the Great, a Shadow King who reigned a thousand years before the Andal invasion. The birth of a male heir to the Darklyn lineage was much celebrated, although Gunthor was never expected to inherit. His father, who had been born with a lame leg, had never achieved knighthood and served his lady mother as a steward and adviser, having been named harbormaster of Duskendale upon reaching his twentieth nameday. Though Petyr was not a sullen man, he had never ceased resenting his condition, a sentiment which only worsened after his brother Steffon had been named to the Kingsguard. He wished to raise both of his sons, Gunthor and Robert, to become what he could not – knights of splendid repute and unmatched skill and honor.

To his credit, Gunthor easily took to the yard from an early age, guiding and tutoring Robert as they grew up even as he learned from the Dun Fort master-at-arms. Beyond his rigorous martial training, Gunthor received lessons in lordship from the Maester and from his family, as it became increasingly clear that his uncle would not succeed in fathering sons of his own body. By law, Gunthor’s cousin Meredyth was the heiress to Duskendale, but the law had been murky since the Great Council of 101 AC, which had taken place only a decade before of their birth. As it was, for as long as no sons were born to his uncle Darroch, Gunthor was seen as a potential heir by Meredyth’s side. To simplify matters and to avoid a disputed succession (and also as a boon to Petyr, who was claimed to be his mother’s favorite son), the Lady Darklyn betrothed the cousins to each other. When they were on the cusp of puberty, Devorguilla sent them both away from Duskendale, so that they would grow up apart rather than as siblings (the Darklyns were not the blood of the dragon, after all). Gunthor was sent to Rook’s Rest to squire to Lord Staunton, where he soon earned his spurs both in the yard and in the field, being knighted upon his sixteenth year after having slain four bandits (Clawmen, he later claimed) who had wanted to take off with Lord Staunton’s young daughter, Ysabel.

When Gunthor returned to Duskendale, he did so as a grown man and an anointed knight, basked in glory, honor and chivalry. He also returned an orphan, for his father had died of a bad belly a year previously (and his mother had passed away delivering Robert). As he was wont to do, his uncle Darroch, known as Darry the Darling, was quick to take Gunthor under his wing, treating him as the son he had never had. If the Lady Devorguilla had had any doubts regarding the betrothal, all was set aside upon watching her heir’s interest and love for his nephew. Ser Darroch’s death in a hunting accident came as a deep blow to Gunthor, but he rose to the challenge of becoming heir ahead of his time, alongside his lady betrothed. Gunthor has been Lord of Duskendale for a year and still seems to rely far too much on his late grandmother’s advisers and courtiers. However, the young knight has potential, all agree, and the companionship between himself and the Lady Meredyth is plain to see. If given time, Gunthor Darklyn could prove himself a worthy Lord of Duskendale and as great as his ancestral namesake who lived millennia ago.

Temperament: Confident - This character is very self-assured, brimming with confidence and difficult to shake even under pressure. However, taken to an extreme, they can show suicidal disregard for their life, like trying to claim a ing dragon, and the lives of others, and fail to take... well, failure into account when planning (+1 Battles, -1 Rout)

    Traits:

    +3 Personal Combat
    +3 Survival

Ser Steffon Darklyn is the third and only surviving son of Lady Devorguilla Darklyn and her husband Ser Steffon Hollard, after whom he was named. Since an early age, Steffon displayed a natural aptitude at swordsmanship, alongside a healthy dose of ambition instilled into him by his lady mother. Always a restless boy, he was a mischievous climber in his youth, and the maids and washerwomen said that no stone remained untouched by his hand in the Dun Fort, not even the great gargoyles that crowned the Dusk Court. His mother, ever observant, was quick to sense her son’s potential. “You have everything but discipline,” the Great Lady is said to have told him as a child, “and you could have everything with discipline”. Fortunately, Devorguilla knew exactly what to do with him, and how her third son could serve House Darklyn just as well as his elder brothers.

The name of Darklyn carried certain weight in the turn of the century. Whereas five decades prior their name had been dragged to the mud by Lord Darrol for his treasonous support of King Maegor, though the young Old King had seen fit to pardon him, the next five decades of loyal and steady service had redeemed the ancient house in the eyes of everyone who mattered. The Scarlet Shadow, Jonquil Darke, had played a large role in House Darklyn’s redemption as the sworn shield of Good Queen Alysanne. The Scarlet Shadow was Lady Devorguilla’s great-aunt and, although she did not outlive the Old King for long, her long and distinguished service as the Queen’s Shadow had painted House Darklyn in a different light – loyal and reliable. Although two sons of House Darklyn had served in the Kingsguard before, in many ways the Scarlet Shadow surpassed them without ever swearing a knight’s vows. As such, the Lady Devorguilla found only little difficulty to arrange Steffon’s squiring under Ser Harrold Westerling, as sworn brother of the Kingsguard, even as her eldest Darroch squired under Lord Commander Ser Ryam Redwyne. The two Darklyn squires distinguished themselves in the capital – Darroch for his amiability and Steffon for his sheer natural skill – and both ended up earning their spurs in due time. Upon receiving his knighthood, Ser Steffon served for four years in the Goldcloaks, in that short time even rising to command the Iron Gate. He wished to make a name for himself, as third sons are wont to do, and the Goldcloaks presented opportunity. His mother approved; she needed trusted eyes in the capital, and who better than her third son? His appointment to the Kingsguard came as a welcome surprise.

For the past decade years, then, Ser Steffon had been serving admirably as one of the white swords. He is a renowned member of the Blacks, perhaps more than any in his family. Like his elder sister Melusine, he despises Queen Alicent and holds no love for the Lord Commander either. He deems Ser Criston Cole unworthy of the white cloak, perhaps partially due to Ser Steffon’s own infatuation with the Princess Rhaenyra. His goal in life is to replace Criston Cole and become Lord Commander himself, a moderate ambition for a knight of the Kingsguard in his prime. Of course, with his brothers’ deaths and children ruling from the Dun Fort, there is no telling where Ser Steffon’s ambitions will stop.

    The Lady's Shadow

    JEYNE DARGOOD

Temperament: Reserved - This character is a stoic who generally keeps to herself and exercises strict control over their emotions. While this means they're not likely to make reckless moves in court or on the battlefield, they can come across as unfeeling robots to others (+1 Battles, -1 Charisma)

    Traits:

    +3 Personal Combat
    +3 Survival

When Devorguilla Darklyn came of age and fully assumed command of Duskendale from her mother and regent, the Lady Serena of House Manderly, she wasted no time in summoning the daughters of the blood of the shadow in Duskendale to the Dun Fort. “The Good Queen has her Shadow,” she proclaimed in the reception she arranged at the Dusk Court, “and it is only fitting for the Lady-Under-the-Shadow to have her own too”. Jonquil Darke had become Queen Alysanne’s sworn shield in 51 AC out of security concerns – fanatics of the Faith Militant still lurked in the shadows, and male guards could not always guard the Queen at all times. The Lady Devorguilla’s desire for a Lady’s Shadow of her own came not out of concern for her own security (though her exile in White Harbor had left her feeling vulnerable), but out of her desire to emulate her idol and role model Alysanne Targaryen in every way she could. Having her very own Jonquil Darke was paramount to her ambitions, and she felt justified in calling those baseborn of Darklyn blood to serve House Darklyn as that Darklyn bastard served the Iron Throne. A wide array of girls competed for Lady Devorguilla’s attention, put forward by their fathers, rich and poor, in the hopes of winning her favor. Only few were judged apt by the master-at-arms, who stood by her side, and those few lucky ones were welcomed to the Dun Fort alongside their families.

Jeyne Dargood, at the time twelve years of age, was one of those lucky chosen ones. The girl had been tall for her age, and she had already grown muscle from sailing in her family’s mercantile flotilla in the very traditional trade route between Duskendale and Pentos, so she had stood out among her scrawnier competitors. Upon Devorguilla’s passionate request to the Good Queen, Jonquil Darke had agreed to take three girls as squires and train them in arms and in security. Jeyne Dargood was one of those lucky three who were sent to King’s Landing. When she returned to Duskendale five years later, Lady Devorguilla thanked all three and dismissed all but Jeyne herself, who promptly fell to one knee to swear herself as her liege lady’s sworn sword and shield (the two other girls would also find employment elsewhere, one contracted by Jeyne Dargood’s own mercantile family as a bodyguard and the other as a famed sellsword in the Free Cities).

Thus, it was in that way that Jeyne Dargood came to serve the Lady Devorguilla Darklyn as her sworn shield and shadow throughout all her lifetime. Jeyne, of course, was more than just a bodyguard, in the same way that Jonquil was more than a Queensguard. The two became steadfast friends and confidantes. Jeyne was fiercely loyal and skilled with the blade, but was also a comforting and constant presence wherever Lady Devorguilla went. Upon the Great Lady’s own death in 128 AC, Jeyne Dargood was inherited by the Lady Meredyth alongside Duskendale. Rather than dismiss her from her service, the new Lady Darklyn saw fit to continue her grandmother’s practice. Since then, Meredyth and Jeyne Dargood have developed a strong bond of kinship, and the young Lady of Duskendale is rarely seen anywhere without her shadow.

    Princess Baela Targaryen
    Full Name: Baela Targaryen
    Age: 13 (born 116 AC)
Marital Status: betrothed to Prince Jacaerys Velaryon
    Children: /
    Traits (4 points): Survival +2 Duel +2
    Temperament:
    - Impulsive: This character acts before (sometimes, without) thinking. They might move and decide more quickly than others, but their recklessness can lead them to disaster as well. +5% movement speed, -1 to detection rolls.

Growing up as the daughter of Prince Daemon Targaryen and his deceased wife Laena Velaryon, Baela was brought with her twin sister Rhaena from the city of Pentos to Driftmark, when she was half a year old. Being betrothed to Rhaenyra's son Jacaerys Velaryon around 118 AC, she was destined already to marry her stepbrother and cousin one day. Like most Targaryens, Baela and Rhaena got gifted a dragon egg in order to continiue the legacy of the dragon riders of old. While Rhaena's hatchling was unhealthy and died within hours of emerging from the egg, Baela's dragon Moondancer, a slender pale green with pearl-coloured horns, crest and wingbones, would eventually survive and become her personal dragon. Although she was unable to ride her, the time where she would eventually fly with Moondancer together won't be too far away.
Baela herself grew into a wild and willful young lady, acting more boyish than ladylike. She knew naught of fear, and lived to dance and hawk and ride. As a young girl she was oft chastised for wrestling with squires in the yard, and as she grew older she played kissing games with them. Although she was provocative at times herself, she was quick to anger as well.

    Ser Raphael (Storm) Taranis

Temperament- - Confident: This character is very self-assured, brimming with confidence and difficult to shake even under pressure. However, taken to an extreme, they can show a suicidal disregard for their life and the lives of others, and fail to take...well, failure into account when planning. +1 battle rolls, +1 to rout rolls against this character.

    Traits- 2 Charisma
    2- Survival
    2- Personal Combat

Ser Raphael is a landed knight without a family to speak of. His Knighthood was an honorary one gained when he fought in the place of the knight he was squired to during a tournament. Since then he handled himself in a dozen tourney's placing no worse than second. Eventually he found favor with House Baratheon. A young man brown of hair and hazel of eyes, he is handsome enough to get more favor than Lord Baratheons.
