Default Roman naval attacks on greece itself?

Just downloaded XGM a couple weeks ago, and Im playing as the greece, and i was wondering if rome is likely to do a naval attack (Landing at sparta and or Coriinth), or do they invade from land? Just wondering because they just recently declared war, and im not sure if i should keep a large garrison to protect sparta ect, or focus my forces on expanding north.

That may sound like a stupid question, but i have never seen a roman naval invasion lol.

You should be safe for a while, but when the Marius hits in they will invade from Macedonia, so you should keep your units there, no need for more than 2-3 unit garrisons...

Its very rare for them to launch a naval invasion against you. And they definately wont do it if you're at war with them and also have a land border. So if you've got a land border just defend across that and you should be fine

On BI-XGM naval invasions might be more likely though, having a small army for internal defence shouldn't be a bad idea, of course if you leave the royal guard in Sparta it's usually all you need...

I haven't seen the AI commit to too many naval invasions, my honest recommendation is strong naval forces, 5 x trireme should do it, keep attacking and get experience!

Acctually 26 turns for Spartan Royal Guard would be more realistic as it took 13 years to train them (and +10 years for Aristocrats, Kings...).

They can easily determine the end result of a battle, thats why i hit them with onagers, balistas, and archer auxillia at range

I hate auto resolving naval battles cuz I so know I can beat those romans with my greek navy when its evenly matched

but usually it's a stupid narrow defeat or something
