No need mate, I got your point
Well there is one already but I'd lie to believe some people could actually be objective. I have seen it many times during long serious debates etc

    PS
I just replied quickly from my phone.

Personally i feel that this group should strive to distance itself from the idea of debating, or at the very least the western definition of it which mandates winning as the ultimate goal, more twoards the idea of discussion as an exchange of ideas and viewpoints with people from different cultures and backgrounds in order to further your own understanding of the world.

If it does not do this any behavioral code will fall flat on its ass in time because the intelectual dishonesty, the ideological preaching and the toxicity will still be there just bhidden under fake politness and biased website links.

Nobody in the d&d is ever going to convince anybody else of anything. So we should all take a step back and chill out with the ideological war and the obession with winning.

Anyway, that's how i see things.

Yes, a ‘discussion and discourse’ would be better than ‘discussion and debate’

Indeed. The purpose of the group is certainly not to figure out ways to 'win' debates, but to promote 'noble discourse' - honest, good-faith discussion. I can't tell if you're speaking generally or in response to something though?

Generally, after seeing people here talk almost exclusively about debating.

Would be interested in seeing a VV thread about history and tradition of debate in Western society. I could google it, but I find some of our members have a flair for exposition. Much more enjoyable to read than clinical history books.

This is an internet forum. All discussions and debate are academic.

I think Settra has it right....

The Honourable Dante von Hespburg has joined our Noble House! If there ever was a more courteous Knight of Discourse I have yet to meet him.

    Welcome Dante!

I haven't seen Elfdude or Katsumoto or Iskar much lately, after all it was Iskar or Katsumoto or both who proposed The House of Noble Discourse.
