Hi

I have the definitive edition on Steam. It boots up fine, but when I have chosen a country in the campaign it black screens and comes up with the above message. I have tried running as administrator and changing compatibility to Windows 7, neither of which worked. I have re-installed several times.

Is this the mac version? If so, see my blog.

If not, install my Bare Geomod Kingdoms basic mod folder and try running that (straight forward installation, 13MB) with the desktop shortcut it provides.

I was playing some of my mods today and after several turns I get ctd saying Medieval 2 Total War has encounted an unsuspected error and will now close. Any ideas on how I can fix this problem?

That will be mod related (the message is generic, no conclusion is possible based on it otherwise) - detailed description of the circumstances and a trace log may help the authors to figure out what happened.

I have a similar problem as the op had >>I have a definitive version on Steam<< with the same message >>with the exception that the last word is "exit"<< as aforesaid, though the game crashes as soon as it is opened or I click the play button. I tried the solution by Gigantus, but it does not work. I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bits installed in a Hp Notebook. It meets the system requirements. What should I do? Never mind, I found a solution. I just had to update the Graphics Card's driver. Thank you anyways...
