hi again,
I don't have enough money to buy a whole new computer out right. So I'm looking into building a new one over time. my intension is to replace old parts of my existing computer until I have a new one.![]()
-Existing Computer Specs: P4 3.4ghz, 2GB DDR2 (533) 240pin RAM, SATA 3Gb/s HD, 7800gt PCI-e video card.
-Desired Goal: A computer with a core 2 duo processor.
So I think my first move should be a new motherboard. one that supports both p4 and core2 duo. right?
-TO THE POINT... What I wanted to ask yall about was memory standard for motherboards. If i want to use my current RAM for the time being (DDR 533) does the motherboard I buy HAVE to have 533 as It's memory standard? In other words a motherboard with a DDR2 677 memory standard won't work?
