Considering the issue risen at PotF 38 Vote thread, please see below

First I removed Morticia's entry on user's request, and only because the case with copy/pasting is controversial and not yet defined by the rules; in normal cases I wouldn't have removed a entry once it got to the vote (but would do on request if still on nominations phase, of course). Similarly, I wouldn't have removed it only because of a "missing rule", just to be clear.

However, it is absolutely true that we didn't consider copy/pasting in the rules, since copy/pasting per sé isn't an issue I guess, while I agree it might be so if the entire nominated post is based on a copy/paste.

Here is a draft of the proposed rule

- Copy/pasting for the purpose of sourcing is fine, but a post which entirety is composed of a simple copy/paste isn't considered a valid nomination and will be discarded if nominated

a bit of insight: the "copy/paste issue" has to be blatantly obvious for it to be confirmed, the PotF team cannot check any single nomination and anyways the issue should be very limited (so far only one case over 38 rounds).

input is welcome, please do feel free to propose your version of the rule if you don't like/agree with mine

As the apparent party pooper, copy/paste is a rare issue that somehow arise in the latest round. It was the post I was going to vote for only to realize last minute that it looked too professional. A Google search showed the entire post was a copy/paste. That kinda eliminates the purpose of the competition. There should of course be quotes from articles, speeches, posts, sources in general, etc.

Wording of the rule looks fine. Could be shorther:

A nominated post should:

1. Be focused and relevant to the topic(s) being discussed.
2. Demonstrate a well-developed, insightful and nuanced understanding of the topic(s) it is discussing.
3. Be logically coherent, well organized and communicate its points effectively.
4. Support its contentions with verifiable evidence, either in the form of links or references.
5. Not be deliberately vexatious to other users.
6. Not be composed of a copy/paste in its entirety.
