Perhaps it is just me but it seems odd that a team that has made either entire campaign expansions or a DLC with several factions is now making a single faction DLC... It seems like overkill to me.

Not really. 3K will be probably more similar to Warhammers than to Rome2/Attila. So this single faction will probably feature a few equivalents of Warhammer Legendary Lords/ starting characters. Basically it is culture pack for Rome 2/Attila where faction is more similar to culture group...Plus CA will probably continue the trend to have really different factions...Plus majority of assets must be new not like for Empire Divided or Rise of the Rome where the team could re-use a lot of previous work..

That's my read of it too. Each Warlord is equivalent to a faction within the same culture in Rome 2 and/or a Legendary Lord in Warhammer. So it's essentially a Culture Pack, with the culture being the Yellow Turbans, and the factions being He Yi's faction, Gong Du's faction, and Huang Shao's faction.

ToB is getting another update so Jack´s team is probably doing that and History DLC team (Bulgaria/Sofia) who is responsible for the last three R2 DLC is doing Yellow Turbans...but Greek Strategos not so long ago suggested something small. Maybe the engine guys are putting together tools or something not like DLC..

The same branches - "nightly" (first added 9th September), "guru" (first added 19th September), "cakes" (first added 9th October), "sparrow2" (first added 15th October) - are also being used by the other Total War games as well (e.g. Attila, Warhammer). The latest Rome II DLCs / patches were using the branch codename "miller", and I don't see any new branches specific only to Rome II in there (e.g. "miller4") to indicate an upcoming patch for the game, or any new SteamDB Unknown App IDs in the DLCs section either.

I think RII will get TED and Hive. Ted the most. It's just a prediction but I think CA will want to give this small tool as the last thing for RII at some point but we don't know when.

Yes, these three DLCs were made by Sofia/Bulgarian "new" CA team. The one which is now supposedly doing Yellow Turban DLC.

If you mean why there are constant updates for all TWs, they are updating launchers, ads, probably just changing these ID numbers we are seeing in steamDB are probably stored in some doc for sync purposes...


...Anyway. This Luke1 depot/branch is exactly something new just for Rome2, no such depot/branch for any other TW.

Other than a few Assembly Kit fixes or a map editor, I'm not sure what else it could possibly be if the update is mod-related - we already got the mod troubleshooting / launcher / workshop file size uncap features in the last few patches.

Sounds like mod manager due to ♔Greek Strategos♔ foreshadowing. If they do the map editor for one TW, people will expect it/demand it for others as well...
