House Gardener’s belligerent and unjustified siege of Sunflower Hall is broken. Let this be a lesson to the lords of the Reach. Just because your holdings are vast, and your armies virtually beyond count, does not give you a right to claim whatever lands you set your covetous gaze upon. House Dayne may be a small house by comparison, but we Dornishmen are proud, and we do not suffer tyranny.

The Tor is also captured, completing the destruction of House Yronwood.

Dayne trangressions will not be tolderated. They were given fair warning that Sunflower Hall was rightfully Gardener lands due to being located in the Reach, and the campaign waged against the Hightowers being fully fought by Gardeners. Despite these warnings, the Daynes continued to hold Sunflower Hall.

King Lewyn did his best to maintain a stern, confident expression as he led his army in creeping through the desert. The men were nervous enough already; it wouldn’t do for their leader to show any sign of weakness. It was amusing, in a strange sort of way. The brave soldiers of House Dayne were not afraid of battle, even against a foe of significantly greater numbers, but they did fear the dark.

Perhaps ‘fear’ was a strong word. They ‘disliked’ the dark, even ‘mistrusted’ the dark. There, that was better. It didn’t matter anyway. The plan which their King had devised required marching, and more importantly fighting, on this especially dark evening. There were no clouds overhead, but the moon was barely a sliver in the night sky. The perfect environment for a night attack. Could his forces defeat the two Gardener armies besieging the fortified mountain pass under the light of day where the men would be more comfortable? Perhaps, but of the two enemy commanders, only one possessed any experience in night battles. Bertrand Osgrey would be a formidable opponent, but he commanded the smallest of the three enemy armies encamped in Dornish lands. The other immediate threat was commanded by Prince Mern, who Lewyn knew for a fact had never fought at night. The final army belonged to King Garth, but he was camped farther north—too far away to provide support. If Bertrand and Mern could be dealt with, smashing Garth would be child’s play.

With the enemy aligned thusly, Lewyn had immediately determined to strike at Bertrand in the dead of night, gambling that Mern’s force would be too slow to rouse, assemble and march to Bertrand’s aid. The stakes could not be higher; the fate of Dorne hung in the balance. Yet, Lewyn’s blood rushed through his veins not in anxiety, but excitement. The plan was a solid one. All that remained was to execute it.

As expected, Bertrand’s army put up the strongest resistance. Most of the soldiers were sleeping, but they were expertly drilled and were quick to rise as soon as the alarm went up. More Dornish soldiers perished in this part of the battle than any subsequent actions. But Dorne held the numerical advantage, and fighting in the light of the campfires seemed to inspire Lewyn’s troops. They fought with a desperation that a commander can only dream of, knowing full well that losing this battle meant slavery or death for them and their families. Finally, just as dawn broke over the horizon, the last resistance of Bertrand’s army collapsed. Lewyn turned his jubilant but exhausted army to the west and marched against Mern. With fresh reinforcements, they attacked Mern from three directions and crushed him in a matter of hours. Finally, Lewyn turned to Garth…poor, poor Garth. He was famous in these parts for being a particularly hapless military leader. Would he flee? If so, Lewyn would pursue, catch him and massacre his army. Would he stand and fight? All the better! His frightened and demoralized militia would never stand up to a trained and determined army of Dorne.

Nor did it. Garth did choose to ‘fight,’ though his army broke practically at the first impact of Dornish steel against their line. It was the most lopsided victory of which Lewyn had ever heard.

After the battle, Lewyn sat quietly in his tent while his men enjoyed a much-deserved celebration outside. Gardener imperialism had been dealt a major blow this day. But tyranny was like a weed; cut it down, and it will only grow back, even more pervasive than before. No, for Dorne to ever be safe, the Gardener menace had to be dealt with, once and for all.

The war was far from over.

    Sunflower Hall besieges.

The combined efforts of the Daynish and Durrandon forces to greedily eat up Reach lands will be met with steel. They will suffer dearly for every step they take.

I requested a replay from Gardener last night (he doesn't have enough men inside of his forts). Just so you guys don't think I'm late.

I will look into this today
"I never asked for this, no more than I asked to be king. Yet dare I disregard her? We do not choose our destinies. Yet we must ... we must do our duty, no? Great or small, we must do our duty"

Nightsong is recaptured with overwhelming odds, and the Gardener faction leader and heir are defeated again.
