I Need Some Help With Medieval Total War

ok i just put medieval total war gold edition on my pc and im having problems with it and some help would b nice. when i try to start a new campaign it goes through to the final load and then after it loads it goes back to my desktop. my single battle maps do work still though so i dont know wat to do. if anyone has any help i could use it. thanks

This is a very common problem. Simply forcing your graphics card to 2x Anti-Aliasing is often a simple fix. For myself and my FX 5500 I have to turn the AA on to 8x which causes battles to be so slow as to be completely unplayable. Obviously I no longer play M:TW

If that doesn't work you might try adjusting the sliding bar in Display/Settings Tab/Advanced/Troubleshooting Tab to decrease the amount of hardware acceleration.

I also seem to recall adjusting your desktop resolution and color settings to match the ingame settings as an officially suggested solution but don't quote me on that. I know it didn't work for me.

Just keep trying until it works, it took me seven CTD's in a row until it finally started but it will eventually.

Yeah, that happens with my older computer. (32mb graphics card, yuk!)

Hmm, i recently installed the expansion Viking Invasion and figured i'd rather play the original, (yeah i know you can on the expansion). So i uninstalled Viking Invasion, and re-installed Medieval. All was fine until i loaded an old game, then the whole game minimizes and closed, thoughts?

yeah your lucky i didn't even get that far when i was trying to install it it said missing file and just shut down the install (note i am unfortunatelly using vista) could use some help

Try running the game in compatibility mode with windows 2000, and setting the battle map resolution to the highest setting on the in-game performance options menu.
