The purpose of this thread is to present the gameplay mechanism specific to each race, and to list the uits for each faction, with preview of their unit roster.
The High Elves have a diverse army, with a great importance for the Kingdoms of Ulthuan. They can also field some elite version of their units.
In any regions, (in Ulthuan or outside),
High Elves can recruit generic units.
Core units, such as Spearmen, Swordmen, Pikemen, Archers, Armored Archers, Silver Helms, etc. are not limited in number. They are a little weaker and have less men (ex: 100 men in a spearmen units). They can be recruited any where.
Core units have an elite version (Sentinels, Hawkeyes, High Helms). They have better stats, but are twice smaller (ex: 50 men in a sentinel spearmen units). They are also capped. And they can ony be recruited in Ulthuan regions.
Special generic units, such as Axemen, Swordmasters, Temple Guards, Dragon princes, or monsters such as Phoenixes and Dragons, are capped: to increaset their capacity, you'll need more buidings. These units are powerfull and have specialized role (like anti large), but they are weaker than the unique units.
Generic units have the colours of their recruiting faction (ex: dark blue/light blue for Lothern), whatever the regions where they are recruited.
In Ulthuan regions:
High Elves can recruit heraldic version of the core units (including elite units). They have better stats and are a little bigger (120 men in a spearmen units), and the cost isn't higher. They are however capped.
Unique units, such as Phoenix Guard, Swordmasters of Hoeth, or White Lions on Chrace, can only be recruited in a specific provinces. They are much better than the generic special units, but are also capped. They also come with an elite version (Bladelords, Keepers of thye Flame).
In Caledor, it is also possible to recruit stronger Dragon Princes or Dragons, and in Eataine stronger Phoenixes.
Heraldic and units always have the same colour / shields, depending on the regions where they are recruited (independantly of the faction which recruited them).
Therefore, it's best to use heraldic orunique units when possible , since they are more cost efficient, but if you want to field large armies to fight on more fronts, or to raise an army far away, you'll have to rely on generic weaker units.
The mod also proposes a few extra units
- Spear sisters and Bow Sisters are female version of the Spearmen and archers. They can be recruited in any Ulhtuan regions, but not in the rest of the world. They have stats similar to men, and are here mostly for added flavour
- In Avelorn, new units are available: Unicorn maidens, Pegasi maidens, Spear Maiden, Bow Maiden, Elite dual swords maiden, and two handed spear maiden. The Sisters of Avelorn are also limited to Avelorn.
- In Chrace: Griffon riders.

Dark Elves don't really have heraldry or a strong sens of "kingdoms", as they have in Ulthuan.
Each unit exists in a normal and generic version.
- The normal version of most units can be recruited in any provinces of Naggaroth. They have normal stats (vanilla based).
- The normal version of some special units (actually Executionners and Blach Guard only) can be recruited only in a specific region.
- Generic units can only be recruited where the normal units cannot be recruited.
- Most units won't be capped.
- Special units (shades, cold one knights, hydra, dragons, black guard, executionners) will be capped.
This is different from the HE mechanism
- Outside Naggaroth/Ulhutan, High Elves and Dark Elves can both recruit weaker generic units.
- In Naggaorth, the Dark Elvees can only recruit the normal version of the units (ie generic not available). They are not capped, but there is no Elite versions. While in Ulthuan, High Elves can recruit the kingdom version, capped, or still recruit the generic version not capped.
- Generic and normal version have a very similar uniforms, the main visual difference is the border of the info card. The size/stats of the units differs : generic are a little weaker/smaller. It is therefore better to recruit Dark Elves units in Naggaroth.
Since there is no real heraldry, the units keep the faction colours, as in vanilla. While High Elves healdic unit recruited in a region of Ulthuan keep their color.
Exemple
- An heraldic spearmen recruited in Chrace will have red colour, even if it's recruited by Lothern (Blue coloured faction)
- But a dreadspear recruited in Ghrond by Naggarond will have the Naggarond colour, not the Ghrond colours.
- Male dreadlord (3 variants)
- Female dreadlord (3 variants)
- Supreme Sorceress, beasts (5 variants)
- Supreme Sorceress, dark (5 variants)
- Supreme Sorceress, death (5 variants)
- Supreme Sorceress, fire (5 variants)
- Supreme Sorceress, shadow (5 variants)
Spoiler for lord list:
- Death Hag (3 variants)
- Assassin (4 variants)
- Sorceress, beasts (4 variants)
- Sorceress, dark (4 variants)

Reason: a
The Wood Elves are focused on Athel Loren. Each of the 4 Region/Province is associated to 3 Realms.
In these province, the Wodd Elves can recruit heraldic units, with colour and for some heraldic symbol specific to each of the 3 Realms of this province.
These units are normal strength and size, and they are available as regular units, and also elite units, which are stronger, but smaller size.
These units are also capped: they provide a strong core for the Wood Elves army, but since they are limited in number, it's better not to waste them for simple garrisonning purpose.
The Wood Elves can also recruit generic units in any province, Athel Loren or outside. These units are weaker, and smaller size. They are good for garrisonning or reinforcing quickly an army far from Athel Loren, but they are less efficient. Since they are not capped, they can also be used to complement the core strong Wood Elves army, if you wich a bigger army... but it will be weaker.
Outside of Athel Loren, Gaen Vale and Heart of the Jungle, only core generic units can be recruited.
In Athel Loren Gaen Vale and Heart of the Jungle, any special and rare geenric units are also recruitable.
Monsters can also be recruited only in Athel Loren, Gaen Vale and Heart of the Jungle.
Note 1 : The name of units is given only for Talsyn, for the others the units are always in the same order, cf Talsyn to get the names.
Note 2 : For heraldic units, reach Realm specialized in one type of ammunition (hagbane, startfire, swiftshiver or normal arrows), but combining the 3 realms of each province allows getting every type of arrows in every province. The type of arrows is indicated by the halo around the unit icon.

The Empire proposed the following types of units:
- Generic units, recruitable in any region, including outside of the Empire historical provinces. They are a little weaker.
- Heraldic provincial units: they are stronger, but are capped and can be recruited only in their own provinces (as long as you control any region of this province), with their own colours.
- Heraldic city units: the bigger cities (Altdorf, Nuln, Middenheim, Talabheim) also allow recruiting heraldic units.
- Elector Count: Unique units recruitable when you control the Elector Count of a province.
- Knightly order: they can only be recruited in a specific province if you build their chapterhouse landmark. They are strong, but limited in number.
- Regiments of Renown: Unique unit recruitable when the lord reaches a given level
To sum up:
- The core of an imperial army should be the provincial heraldic units, stronger. But they are limited in size. You can have a bigger army by recruiting city heraldic units (same strength, but requires control of the city). When the manpower pool is depleted (i.e. the capped is reached), you can recruit "second class" generic units .
- When the Empire expand, outside of the Empire they can recruit generic units only.
The building requirement for Empire has been modified, similar to what CA did with Bretonnia. Empire units now have only one requirement. For example, the Empire Knights only needs the barracks level 3, no need of the armoury anymore, or the Handgunners can be recruited with only the barracks, they don't need the Gunsmith.
Instead, units are capped in number, and the old additional building provides a bonus to capacity.
For exemple, the base capacity for Empire Knights is only 2. Each stable level 3 increase the capacity by 1, or by 2 for level 4. And each armoury also increase the capacity by 2.
This is for generic knights: each province also has its own limits.
For instance, Reikland Knights have a base capacity of 4, +2 for stables level 3, +4 for level 4, + 4 for the forge, but only when these buildings are in Reikland province.

Faction mechanism
The Lizardmen have generic units, recruitable everywhere, but weaker, and heraldic units, recruitable only in the some regions, which are stronger.
Lizardmen don't really have heraldry, but the Skink and Saurus have a specific colour (based on recruiting faction for the generic, and the recruiting region for heraldic).
Monsters have a generic version, and a "lustria" version, recruitable only in Lustria and some parts of the Southlands. The Lustria version is better, stronger, and usually more coloreful.

Faction mechanism
The Vampires Counts don't have heraldic units tied to a region. Instead, they always keep the colour of the recruiting lords. There units however exist in 3 versions:
- Generic, recruitable anywhere. Weaker and more expensive
- "Undead lands", recruitable in traditional Vampire regions, like Sylvania, Moussillon, former Strigos Empire... Stronger.
- "Raised" : only via the raise dead mechanism. They are also strong, but a bit more expensive.
"Generic" and "Undead lands" are capped, and the cap can be increased with new settlements or buildings.
"Raised" units are not capped: this allow the Vampire to have a large army... If they get enough fresh corps from large battle sites!
