Is no one talking about this? I just saw the movie last night and thought it was pretty good. Not quite and dramatic as Hero although more than enough tear filled moments... I basically went to see the battle which feature 1000 extras. I thought the assault on the iron walls was awesome and I'd see the movie again just for that part!

Edit: Although I think I like Hero best I voted COTGF simply because they went all out on the battle scene, which we rarely get to see in movies.

I thoguht it was great, until the finale, which was definitely not as artful as the rest of the movie. COuldnt they think of a better way to portray the ending? And the 1000 'extras' were 3d. They looked so obviously 3d. MTW2 has better graphics.

The 1000 extras were multiplied, but you still have the fact that they used 1 thousand extras. You didn't even get but 500 horsemen in the lord of the rings not counting orcs I guess, but personally I love it and to say MTW2 has better graphic than superimposing a real person is a little crazy m8

seriously, just look at the way those figurines were moving. It just wasn't done that well. A pity because the plot was so intriguing in the beginning. The finale was just bleh. The fighting scenes were great, except in the finale too, where they lack the art of those in the beginning and the middle of hte movie.

Honestly I really don't see where you're coming from, I've got a brand new pair of specs and I still can't figure out which was CG and which wasn't. I assume it was the sene where the Imperial army is lined up behind the iron gate? All they did was pretty much stand in formation.

As for the final battle that rocked it was like Helms deep on crack arrows flying, and then the crazy pike bridges they made heh, I loved it!

Well the duel between father and son yes was the best action sequence in the movie. I can see where you may think the Son was kinda lame at the end fighting off the imperial troops, he seemed a little slow - but remember they weren't trying to kill him that wanted to take him alive.

And to the other person no there's no flying, but there is a lot of grappling hooks and some pretty extraordinary feats of skill

I don't like any of the above movies, but that's probably because, being ethnically Chinese, I am rather unimpressed by all manner of kung-fu and such. I'm much more fond of Infernal Affairs, a Hong Kong gangster thriller.

Good movie but too short a time to sqeeze everything in, thus making the storyline shallow. The moral of the story is broad covering filial piety, loyalty, betrayal, lust for flesh and power and distrust that actually existed and contributed to the downfall of every dynasty. BTW, did the Tang Dynasty ladies wore so little historically?

I think they had plenty of time to develop the story, but it played like a soap opera (all in doors) if you know what I mean. They could have really developed a better sense of the period and the people of that day if they would have brought in more colorful characters and taken the cast outside a bit.

Anyway the moral is there, but it was really hard to pick any one character's side they're all a bunch of back stabbers (two, three, four wrongs don't make a right!) lol... so there you have it, by the time the fighting began I was more than ready to see some action.

I thought over all the costumes, armor etc were excellent even though they wore elaborated ceremonial armor in battle, but that's were the fantastical side of the movie shines through. As for the women, well I'm pretty sure the top of the breast was more wild west bar saloon than medieval China, but I could be wrong on that.
