We knew this day would come. That Sauron would not allow the Misty Mountains to declare their independence without consequence. That he would order his armies north to grind his former subjects under an iron boot, to massacre and pillage and then finally to enslave us once more.
The Dark Lord sends a massive army composed mostly of rabble orcs, led by an inexperienced commander. According to conventional wisdom, the Mordor breed of orcs is superior to their northern cousins. Surely the goblins will cower in their fortress rather than brave a battle on the open field. And surely a force the size of Mordor’s will be able to storm Moria and crush this rebellion once and for all.
Or perhaps conventional wisdom needs to be rewritten. High Chieftain Uglag marshals his army and marches forth to meet the invaders. He tells his soldiers not to fear their southern brethren. He urges them to remember their training, to draw courage from the fine weapons and armour they carry into battle. He tells them he has a plan.
On a flat field not far from a small elven village, Uglag prepared his army for battle. In his center, he deploys his own rabble soldiers, drawn up in deep formation with the commanders bodyguards directly behind them to ensure that they stand and fight. He arranges his heavily-armoured halberds on either side of the center in a thinner line, knowing those elite soldiers will hold firm. And concealed by cover on either flank, he deploys his strike force: 1500 maulers and fellers wielding great two-handed axes, and possessing enough raw strength to cleave an orc’s head in twain with one swing, helm and all. The trap is set.
The Mordor orcs advance in an undisciplined mass, confident in an easy victory. The lines clash in an explosion of violence. In the center, soldiers fall rapidly on both sides, but the goblins’ deep lines enable them to slowly bleed the orcs’ momentum. The halberds on the flanks are pushed back by the sheer number of enemies pressing on their lines, but their discipline and killing skill leave a trail of dead and dying orcs in their wake as they gradually fall back in good order. The goblin line shifts like a piece of wood with a heavy weight on both ends, bending but not breaking. And then, when the moment is right, Uglag signals the main attack. The axe-wielders burst from cover with a thunderous battle cry, and charge into the orcs’ exposed flanks with reckless abandon. The orcs hold for a time, but as the pressure mounts, more and more of them begin to flee, until finally the entire army routs.
When the battle is over, the goblins count the dead on both sides. Losses are heavy, but more than three Mordor orcs have perished for the life of every soldier of the Misty Mountains. Let Sauron think twice before attempting to enslave us again! And let conventional wisdom be rewritten.

RP is not mandatory here, but if you want to write something, it's always nice.
