High Chieftain Guorwe sat in his opulent chambers, writing out a letter to one of his peoples’ neighbors. In these times of uncertainty, he found that it was best to write out messages himself rather than leaving it to a subordinate. Receiving a letter written by the leader of a nation would carry more weight and demonstrate a greater level of respect.

He did not look up at the sound of approaching footsteps, already knowing who it was. Barring an impending catastrophe, no one would dare disturb him at this hour unless he had been summoned, and Guorwe had only summoned one person. He waited until the footsteps came to a stop before speaking.

“How is your progress with rearranging the garrisons?”

“It goes well, father,” came the voice of his son, Nurwe. Gourwe let the ensuing silence hang in the air, and his son quickly took the hint and elaborated. “A couple units have yet to reach their assigned posts, but they should arrive soon.”

“Good. And how is our financial situation?”

“Improving. We are now making a profit of…”

Guorwe listened as his son provided the details. Only when Nurwe finished did he finally look up.

“Good. Then this war has already gotten off to a fine start.”

He could sense his son’s skepticism, but the young prince was wise not to show it. He would learn, of course. Nurwe was inexperienced, and still clung to that youthful naivete which told him that wars were won in glorious battle. A wise commander knew that the battle itself is only a small part of waging war. War required an efficient logistical system, a people at home devoted to the cause. Most importantly, war required gold. Gold paid the soldier to stand in line of battle. Gold equipped him with his weapon and outfitted him in strong armour to protect him. Gold also put food in his stomach to ensure that he possessed the strength to fight for his people. The side with the most gold usually won the war.

So it made perfect sense to take all reasonable steps to place one’s military in order before marching to battle. By rearranging the garrisons they reduced upkeep costs and brought more useful units closer to the front. Nurwe did not yet understand the value of taking these steps, rather than simply charging out and engaging the nearest enemy force immediately. But he would learn. And in the meantime, he would obey his father’s commands. Gourwe did not intend to depart this plane of existence any time soon, but he would make sure that Nurwe would be a worthy successor when the time came.

Lumnaz jumped over the lava filled trench as he moved his way towards the elvish fort in the distance. It was a pitch black night except for the burning lava streams and volcanoes to the north. His mission was to break inside the fort and open the gates for his lord Gothmog's army who were hidden with illusionary spells close by. His keen eyesight allowed him to see in the darkness for he was especially bred for this sort of thing. Running on all fours he dashed from behind a large rock for the fort, moving at twice the speed of a man.

Suddenly he stopped in his tracks...An elvish archer appeared on the battlements looking out into the darkness. Lumnaz froze and looked down, for there was a chance the archer's torch could reflect in his eyes. After a minute or so, the archer moved away and Lumnaz breathed a sigh of relief.

He reached the wall and put on his handy climbing claws and methodically made his way up the wall. He knew that the fort's garrison was not large for he had observed forces moving out of the fort a mere week ago towards the south. Foolish elflings! My master is going to butcher your little fort he thought to himself. He made it over the battlements and quietly moved along the battlements towards the gatehouse. He spotted two spearmen talking near the doorway to the gatehouse. Most of the other elves were in the center of the fort in their barracks sleeping with few others patrolling the walls.

Lumnaz crept steadily behind the spearmen, slowly unsheathing his two daggers and with a cat-like leap, sprung on them.

"....hhhhh...." was the only sound the elves made as the blades entered their necks. Lumnaz quickly caught them before they fell and put them aside with as little noise as possible. Grinning in delight at his work, he made his way inside the gatehouse and climbed the stairs to the top. He retrieved his little bow and a magic flaming arrow that would signal for the army to advance and for his Balrog master to distract the garrison.

"Fwoosh". The arrow flew high and fast accompanied by a elf sentry screaming in alarm on the other side of the camp.

Next came a loud roar and a thundering sound as the army approached with the Balrog flying. All of the sentries ran to the other side of the fort to look at the spectacle, waking the rest of the garrison from slumber. Lumnaz took advantage of the distraction and went downstairs and unlocked the gates. It seemed all of the elves had forgotten about the gate itself until it was too late.

Dying, screaming elves were in the center of the fort, fire raging every where around them. The orcs desecrated the survivors and tortured them. Many elves had been staked, some eaten. Others were being shot with arrows to the amusement of the orc archers.

But Lumnaz was standing nervously in front of the blazing Balrog who was giving orders to the orc officers. Gothmog then set his gaze on Lumnaz who was shaking in out of fear and awe.

"You have done well my little servant....now I have another mission for you......." Gothmog spoke in a booming voice

"Yess mastah....a-a-anythin for the dark lord!" Lumnaz said in a fearful tone.

At least I am not dying today he thought to himself

    Ulfang up!
    https://www.sendspace.com/file/ksfk7p
As the forces of darkness lead by mighty balrogs slowly approaching the lands of the elves, the dragons are enroaching and getting closer and closer to the depts of the dwarven holds built within the blue mountain. The dwarves might be ready or not, but their fate soon will unreveal itself.

In the lands of Doriath the children of Ungoliant now run rampart and started taking over more and more parts of the forest with their entangling webs making woods more darker each day. Their chittering now replaced the sounds of all animals, that before run safely within these parts of Doriath. Now to take the woods over hordes of spiders are now attacking the most closest elven outpost, surrounding the defenders, blocking all ways with webs and waiting for the right time to strike at them and prey upon their flesh. Ungoliant herself remained back to observe, if her children can make a path deeper into the forests, so she can satisfy her hunger.

The creatures of the night obeying their dark lord command finally swarmed out of their long forgotten dark forests. Wargs, dire wolves, giant bats and even bears, all hailed and come into life within these dark woods now swarming out with the pack lords at the forefront. Moving within the safety of the night, for their hatred of the sun is also a weakness of theirs, silently enroaching towards the lands of men and elves. The lands of the Avari is now attacked by a horde of these creatures and one of their border settlement is already surrounded preventing any sort of travel even in day lights as wolves and wargs not fear it as much as the other creatures, but while they prey upon those, that are now surrounded they will wait for the nightfall of the right time before commiting to a killing blow and feast upon the fresh blood and flesh of the elves.
Similarly Habriston from Nargothrond made the mistake of traveling the borders of his kingdom thinking that the lands he now observing are safe from the grasp of the darkness. At nightfall him and his bodyguard were assaulted by a swarm of giant bats, masters of the shadows. Most of Habriston bodyguard sacrificed himself to let their lord run away and survive another day. He managed to survive however he and the rest of the elven folk will know, that the creatures of the dark lord are now ready to unleash their terror upon their lands.

This is one of the worst weeks for me when it comes to time, or rather lack of. I know I won't be able to play tomorrow and on Friday. I will have just a little spare time on Saturday, so hopefully I'll be able to play then. If that doesn't work, I'll be able to play only on Monday, since Sunday is just crazy for me, no time for certain. I don't know if you guys are fine with that. If not, just say "Yeah, screw you, Adanedhel, will have someone sub, thank you very much!" I'll be fine with that. Sooooooooorryyyyyyy.

    Fingolfin

Legions upon legions of orcs were spotted on our borders. Some turned aside assailing the walls of our neighbors and dear allies of the house of Finarfin. Scouts also report war-trolls and other fell beasts, but couldn’t quite make out who was leading them. All they could see was a greater darkness in front, but such a dread and panic fell on them that they fled, not daring to stay even a while longer.

Such were the horrifying news that King Fingolfin learned reading a most urgent letter that came from the borders of his lands.

All knew already about the deadly river of lava that suddenly started flooding the entire plain of Ard-Galen. Even from where he stood, Fingolfin saw the heavy fumes and dark clouds on the horizon.
Many of his most brave Elves, that were especially skilled in the arts of camouflage and having the ability to stay nearly invisible in most terrains, were caught and trapped by the flames and died a painful death. Only a handful managed to escape bringing news that the proud Elf was just finishing reading.

Is this the beginning of what we all feared and foreboded, Fingolfin thought.

He went out to his private chamber where all his gear and weapons of war were bestowed. He began, piece by piece, to put on his new armor, that was specially made for him by the best Elvish smiths. He always enjoyed fitting it on, but this time it was a slow, methodical and emotionless process. He stared blankly at his reflection...

Thingol sat grim faced as the messengers read the news, that the spawn of Ungoliant had breached the girdle of Melian both in the north and a force in east , both besieging the two patrol outposts, from where they monitored the girdles protection effect, and with growing anger stood , with his full height, setting the courtroom abuzz from the courtiers seeing the king roused to action.

"Marshall the forces of Menegroth! We shall not have these foul things polluting the forest of Doriath!", said Thingol striding rapidly from the throne and calling for his weapons and armour. It was not long before the small but well trained host of Menegroth , moved out of the caves heading south and eastwards , where they were joined by some cavalry of the home guard defence force.

With the elfven stride rate and excellent endurance , the army made good time to close the distance to the patrol post , and the army stopped before entering combat , as Thingol trying to plan how to proceed by splitting up some of elven hunters to flank the spiders forces. Little did he know that the spiders were already behind the elfven patrol post in the height of the trees and before the elfves could makes ready, the spiders dropped down upon them.

Indeed it was such that one of the giant spawn of Ungoliant dropped almost ontop of the elfven lord, and he just had time to jump clear, but lost his sword, in the commotion of the ambush , as all around in the forest , the elfves drew there weapons and fought back in ernest. A few elfves had fallen to the surprise of the attack, but once the surprise had dissipated , they were slowly getting the upperhand , particularly when the patrol garrison in there treehuts starting to provide covering fire, from well placed elfven shots from the higher positions in the trees.

Thingol himself rolled in the dirt, weaponless until he moved besides a fallen heavy axe warrior and grasped for his weapon and heaved the massive axe blade up with both hands , turning to face the giant spider who darted from side to side assessing the foe he had picked to fight.

"N'alaquel!, n'alaquel! Amin say! spawn en' ungoliant!", before hopping over the foul creature as it moved forward with its fangs snapping for his elven flesh.

Landing on top of the beast , who tried to bend its head to retarget its prey, Thingol gave it no time , bringing the mighty elfven axe smashing down on the back of its head, where it bit deep into the spiders flesh, covering the forest king , with green ichor that spouted from the wound. With growing anger at his lack of command , and being ambushed by the foul spawn , Thingol bought the axe down again , and again , until the thing had ceased to thrash around , although it still had the odd muscle spasm .

Wiping his face , clearing away the ichor , the king , looked like a thing possessed as he leapt from combat to combat helping his kinsmen and people, finding comfort and eager work which suited his rage, in this new weapon , and although it took some time to get the balance, he found it served his need perfectly and named the axe "Namba en' i' taure{hammer of the forest}" as ichor of spiders flowed this day.The battle became slower and slower as opponents became harder to find in the trees, and although some elfs had perished , over half of the spiders had fallen and their now chittering forms began to retreat from the sharp and silver blades of the elfves. Thingol sought though the detritus of combat to find his blade, which had gone unused in the melee, and sheathed his precious blade for other times , as he wiped his new weapon clean, on the body of a dead twitching spiderbody. The day although long from the battle, had proved victorious as the surprised elfves and particularly Thingol had to take stock of what had happened.

There was a growing might of the forces of evil he thought , and they had forces of greater strength than he could imagine , that they could penetrate the girdle showed the danger. Convinced of the growing threat , when he returned to Menegroth , and after being scolded by Melian about the danger to his person , and his ichor splattered appearance, they both agreed that the peoples of Doriath should at least extend offers of alliance/help to nearby peoples such as Nagorthrond , the scattered tribes of the Laiquendi and the men who they had allowed to stay in the nearby forest, of the house of Haldad against the evil that was rising. A message was likewise sent to Cirdan , the shipwight to seek his wisdom about the scope of the situation on the outside of the forest of Doriath and the growing darkness they faced.

The situation on the northern front faired a little better at first , as the group was supported by the rest of the home guard cavalry unit , who bought a sense of command to the situation . The spiders couldn't really cope with the numbers of cavalry hitting them with hit and run tactics . Things started to go a little of the rails , when the spiders began concentrating there attacks on the elfs in the outpost , forcing the reinforcing troops to actually close and fight hand to hand to protect there brethren who couldn't retreat in the outpost. The battle soon became rather disorganised at that point , as the lighter but experience bowmen closed to fight in melee combat , and many elfven lifes were lost this day, but for every elfven life lost at least a spider was bought down in response, but it wasn't until the re-rallied home guard cavalry gave a fully committed charge to the spiders, that they were forced to retreat with over half there force , left on the forest ground. All agreed that the leader of the home guard cavalry , a certain Ovorion had saved the day with his swift action, and he was promoted by the people of the field as a true forest commander .

Gray Elven Ranger roaming the northern marches

Cirdan walked along the calm shores of Falas one evening, as the sun set he was thinking of the events that had recently passed. A huge force of orcs swarmed over an Elven fort, while a Balrog burned all the defenders inside. A Lord under King Finrod was ambushed along the River Sirion, barely making it out with his life. And worst of all, the Girdle of Melian was pierced by groups of spiders. Never before had the Elves been in so much danger, Cirdan knew that the great war of this age wasn't just coming, it had arrived. Threats were abound everywhere, beasts from the south, Morgoth and his great dragon from the north, and bands of outlaw men were growing in the empty lands. The pace of Elves, and even men arriving in the havens to seek shelter was quickening. As they arrived at the havens they could see many of the Falathrim training for battle, and the smithies along the coasts were working overtime while shipments of wood from the countryside were constantly streaming in to make ships for the new troops to sail upon.

Not all was bad in the world though, Cirdan sent Arandur, his apprentice, north with a small group of warriors to clear the hills of bandits and improve relations with the Gray Elves living in those lands. Arandur had been successful and the Elves there were grateful for his help, and they declared to aid the Falathrim forevermore. Turgon had also revealed Gondolin, sending forth a great army to help match the enemy in the north. And Thingol, despite the girdle unfortunately being not as strong as he thought, had defeated the spiders that entered his lands. Small victories, but victories nonetheless. Cirdan stopped his walking as the sun went down entirely beneath the sea, ushering in the night at last. He thought about how quiet it was here, while far away under the stars many were now fighting for their lives.

The elves of Gondolin continue their march north meeting no opposition but the elf lords Ecthelion and Glorfindel knowing the danger the dark lord and his minions present send forth riders to scout to lands..

Not long after the scouts arrive with reports that the road lay clear and that they had met Angrod cousin to our king Turgon on their journeys north but knew little of his plans.

The news is most welcome and the elf lords can only hope that they will soon fight together against the coming storm..

Nargothrond and the House of Bëor

Flames and smoke. Flames and smoke covered the once green plains of Ard-Galen*. Morgoth had unleashed his forces led by his powerful Balrogs which no Elf or Man could withstand. All fled south from their fiery fury towards the fortress of Gobel Rivil where Angrod and Aegnor of the House of Finarfin resided. Sindar, Noldor and Edain gathered in the stronghold. Covererd in soot and burns they looked like a sorry bunch compared to the forces who had remained in the Pass of Sirion. Their spotless armour still shining in the morning sun and reflecting the flames that raged to the north. One of the fortresses to the east had already been overrun and its destruction could be seen from the walls where Angrod often held his wake. If he was not patrolling the walls he was writing letters to the other Lords of the area, asking them for help or warning them for the danger that was descending upon them. Of these the most important were High King Fingolfin and Finrod's vassal Bregolas, High Chieftain of the House of Bëor. With all these forces they might be able to defeat Morgoth's forces or at least bring the onslaught to a halt for awhile. However the Balrogs were not the only problem .

Frontline on the west side of Ard-Galen

Glaurung, the father of dragons had also been unleashed and his spawn of evil creatures crossed the Ard-Galen straight for Dorthonion, or so it seemed, where Bregolas kept watch. If Elves fled before its wake, Man would certainly stand no chance against his prowess, the Chieftain thought. An inescapable fear seeped into his men and that was only at the news of his coming. Insanity would reign once battle was joined and Bregolas feared that day more than anything else he had feared in his entire life. If there was a battle at all and not just a flight. He had to remain strong for his people and so he did, talking to his troops and inspiring them with his calm demeanor, replacing the feeling of dread with determination. Calm on the outside that is, inside he fretted and thought only of the end of his house and people. Often he lay awake in the night and when sleep finally caught him he had horrible nightmares of fire and death. It was eating him from the inside out yet he would face his fate with sword in hand and his feet on the soil his people called home for almost a century now. Not a long time for the Eldar but long enough for the Edain to call this land their own and they would rather die here than flee the northern lands.

Ill news came from the south as well. Evil creatures had come forth from the wild forest of Taur-im-Duinath (Forest between Rivers), south of the hills of Andram. None dared venture there save for the Avari whom did have no contact with anyone and were so estranged from the other Quendi that they could've been a different race altogether. But the Avari were not a problem, these wolves and other less savory creatures were, also the news from Doriath troubled Finrod greatly. If there was a force that could penetrate the Girdle of Melian then that was a force to be reckoned with and to fear. Melian was one of the Maia and no normal spider would be able to defeat the power she wields.

Troubling news was all that 453 brought and it was only the beginning of many dark days.

    LORE

    Ard-Galen

Ard-Galen was a plain to the north of Beleriand. To its north it bordered the Thangorodrim, the mountains protecting Angband, Morgoth's fortress. To the south it was bordered by the Vale of Sirion, the forested highlands of Dorthonion and the March of Maedhros. To the east by the Ered Luin and in the west by the Ered Wethrin.

    Ard-Galen/Anfauglith

This once green and lush plain was destroyed by Morgoth and Glaurung during the Dagor Bragollach. The flames erupting from the Thangorodrim engulfed the plain and turned it into a charred desert called Anfauglith, the Land of the Gasping Dust and nothing would ever grow on it again save on the Haudh-en-Ndengin, the Hill of the Slain after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. It was on the Anfauglith that Morgoth was eventually defeated by the Host of the Valar in the War of Wrath.

    King
    Chancellor
    Marshal

"Tell me how goes our expedition to the east chancellor."

"Well my king we have found a village a bit ruined mind you but there was a few dwarven, elven and human family living there. The land is fertile and we have offered the human and Elves safe passage to more of there people or
is they wish to stay the can."

"Excellent, and what of the agreement with our sister city to split the lands."

"Again my king they have agreed to the generous terms though they have yet to find any large groupings of people."

    "I see."

    "My king."

    "Yes, Marshal."

"I must alert you to a number of problems, While your commander has been in the field getting rid of the filth that tries to infest the mountain homes we have found more evidence of dark creatures. They, they seem to be coming down from the north."

"Yes, my king on that point our expedition has seen more dark creatures as well coming from the north mostly large bats, spiders and the like but..."

"If they are coming down from the north something is pushing them south I hope for all our sakes the elves are not too arrogant to inform us of what is happening."

"And yet my king we are allied it could be that nothing is happening maybe a bad winter in the north."

"Or we will be attacked first by Dragons."

"This is all speculation send the expedition north to scout the area."

    "Yes, my King"

"Chancellor I also want you to send a diplomat to the Host of Feanor we need to know what is happening around us."

"Yes my king, Nori Will be sent with all hast to talk to there current lord Caranthir let hope the elves are in a speaking mood."

"Indeed, now has our sister city agreed to the other proposal."

Captain Morohtar strode up the long stairs and onto the walls encircling Calen Ossiriand, intent on gauging the spirits of his troops. The massive horde of wolves surrounding the castle outnumbered the defenders 2:1, while the few intelligent orcs—intelligent compared to wolves, that is—worked to construct the rams which would soon knock down the elven gates. If that happened, if the wolves were allowed to stream unhindered into the castle, the captain did not believe his garrison would hold.

But he was fully confident that they would not have to fight this battle alone. Word had already been sent to Lindon and Lanthir Lamath of the approaching threat, while the enemy was still attempting to sneak its way through the forests to the west. As if anything could sneak up on an elf in his own forest. Further, the elven settlements were connected by an intricate network of runners and signals, to ensure plenty of time for reinforcing armies to muster and move to meet any threat. So Morohtar told his men to take heart, that Chieftain Nurwe, son and heir of their leader, would soon arrive. He told his men to be ready to sally forth, so that Nurwe too would have reinforcements, when his soldiers arrived to drive the enemy back from underneath from their walls.

Nurwe arrived as just as the orcs were starting to push the newly-constructed rams forward. The wolves, seeing a new foe, charged with rabid abandon. The battle raged until Morohtar’s men, now fully assembled inside the gates, sallied forth and took the wolves in the flank. Despite savage resistance, by evening the entire canine army had broken, over two-thirds of its number slain. The elves did not hold celebrations, for several hundred of their own lay dead upon the field. It was a victory for the Laegrim, but a grim one.

Nonetheless, our people draw courage from this victory, from the knowledge that we possess the resolve and martial prowess to defend ourselves. And, it seems, we are not the only elves to make this crucial discovery. Word is to be sent to Doriath, in response to that realm’s gracious message:

Message to King Thingol King Thingol,

News of your impressive victories over the spiders was received with jubilation in my kingdom. I hope your people also take heart in the news which I hereby deliver. My son defeated a large force of wolves attempting to besiege one of our settlements. I realize that this is only the first wave of enemies which will likely invade our lands, but nevertheless, the elven realms have sent a decisive message that they will not fall easily. With good fortune and steadfast courage, we will defeat the evil creatures and cleanse the lands of their filth.

Our peoples have their own wars to wage, that much is true. But with luck, we will fight together on the field of battle someday as allies. I look forward to meeting you in person. In the meantime, know that you have a friend in the south, and a determined one at that.

    Warm regards,

    High Chieftain Guorwe

Gothmog observed his army marching, causing fear among the orcs when his fiery gaze swept across them. The plains were turned into a wasteland, with the lava rivers flowing from the north and there was no sign of the previous green vegetation any where, in addition to the Balrogs' themselves, for wherever they stepped foot on, turned burned and died.

Gothmog turned his gaze to the south. Beyond the mountains lay the realm of the house of Beor. The humans on the frontier would be the first to fall, as per order of Morgoth for he hated these men Their audacity to create a kingdom on Angband's borders almost rivaled the arrogance of the Elves.

The Balrog Mal shook the ground as he approached the lord of Balrogs, waiting to receive his orders. Gothmog turned to him and motioned towards the mountains with a fiery hand. Mal had understood his superior's command intuitively as all Balrogs did. The Elves will have to wait for now, for men were on the menu......

    House Ulfang up!

Glaurung was closing on the borders of the men belonging to House Beor. His march is slow, but the inevitable fate of doom is coming to the lands of men and elves. To make way and ensure victory the Dark Lord Melkor sent 2 of his trusted balrog with legions of orcs to join the march of Glaurung and his dragons. Glaurung thoughts are now only on the coming excitement of the devastation of armies and desctruction of cities he will cause to the enemies of the Dark Lord. He didn't care about the words of the balrogs mentioning to him that a large army of men is readying up to face battle againts him and elven forces are coming aswell. He didn't care, as his skin is now almost impervious to their childish weaponry and these mortals possess no threat to him anymore. Moreover his hypnotic ability, dragon spell is also at his command and only someone with a very powerful will can even attempt to try to defend againts this kind of attack.
Meanwhile in the Blue Mountains Scatha and his smaller kins supported by the new kind of winged dragons surrounded the great halls of the dwarves, denying their free movement. The defenders are small numbered, but for now the intelligent dragons will not attack straight and wait for the time being, while their slowly make a hole into the dwarven city.

The spiders might have been pushed back, but their numbers are still ever growing. Those that fell are almost replaced, however Ungoliant in rage seeing that her children failed to bring new meat to their mothers, left his great lair and now on her way to leave her footsteps on the lands of Doriath.

The first horde of wolves and other nightly creatures were beaten back but their numbers are far more greater than the neighbouring nations know and now new swarm is gathering to make another attemp to lay waste on the lands of the avari in the name of the Dark Lord. North from the great dark forest of the night creatures Habriston who fled once already now had to flee again, as a small swarm of bats stormed his retinue and their self-sacrifice enabled him to retreat without suffering great wounds, for now. After the raid concluded the small swarm rejoined their host and now besieging the first city of the elves, they spotted, circling around the walls by wolves, not letting anyone in and out, while the bats harasses anyone that dares to go up to the walls.

    Fingolfin

    [IMG][/IMG]

Today was an important day for the king and his people. During a special military council, under a great canopy, with a view of the mighty mountain range of Ered Wethrin, where many captains and chief advisors of the king were to be present, including Fingon, the king’s son, and the Elves of his household, it was to be decided what will be done about the threat of the north, and what steps were to be made for the upcoming days, weeks, and months.

After everyone had gathered, Fingolfin opened the sitting with a few suitable words and the debate began. The events concerning the sudden attack of the Balrogs and orcs on the lands of Angrod were discussed, as well as the latest movements of the enemy upon the lands of Dorthonion. The king’s son, Fingon, took this opportunity to inform every one of the present state of the armies, and the news was good. All the necessary preparations were made; the soldiers were well armed and equipped, and they had gone through many military drills to accommodate various circumstances. Adequate supplies had been stored for the upcoming months and more was being brought in every day.

But what move was to be made? Should King Fingolfin lead a splendid array of Elves to battle to try and counter the enemy’s movements leaving the lands defenseless? Or should he stay put, defend his homeland, but abandon the men of House Beor to torment, slavery, and death? The voices under the canopy were divided, but Fingolfin knew what he would decide would be final, and he knew his people would follow through on whatever decision he made, even were it be disastrous in outcome.

The council was going on for several hours now, arguments both for and against an aggressive move were presented, and the sun began to sink behind the great mountains, when a messenger brought news of a great host arriving. Soon the echoing sounds of trumpets were heard. The men of House Marach have come. Soon Galdor and his captains joined the council. The Elvish lords saw in their eyes a hot, fierce desire for battle and great deeds, and they were glad to have such allies.

The debate continued to late hours of the day and Fingolfin, after many lonely and worrisome weeks, was content, almost happy. The decisions were made and the debate was over…
